Anyone else notice that a S3 seems to let out a beep when a block is found? I've noticed this on a couple of occasions, maybe it's just the pool I'm using.

Shipping is included. I prefer DHL over UPS. You have a choice.

Just put down for two more on batch 5. I bet Bitmain is betting on another few rounds of low difficulty jumps to justify the slight decrease in price between batches. Judging by how much of the network they can control when they batch test, I'm going to bet the price is probably in line with expected network growth.

It all depends on how you calculate your ROI. If you have a bunch of equipment that's already paid for itself, you can choose to calculate that hash towards your most recent purchase and write off the hardware much sooner. Much easier to calculate any gains down the road that way.

...it also might involve a little bit of lying to yourself too, but trust me it's much more fun this way.

Price includes shipping

Anyone know what Bitmain charges to ship S3's to the US? Need to figure out if it's worth trying to get into a batch or wait for re-sellers to get them.

The pricing for Batch 4 S3s are terrible! The batch 1 price after discount was 0.694.  By the time one would receive a batch 4 S3, a batch 1 will have mined ~0.25 BTC.  Do the math people!

They were also almost a pre-order for unproven hardware, so it was a bit of a gamble and should have some benefits. Blame spoon for not being able to deliver the SP30 at spec, now there's no in stock competition in sight for the S3.

BA is on the verge of shipping their X3 which is apparently getting somewhere in the neighborhood of .81W/GH. Bobsag from Minersource posted pictures on their thread of the 1/2 unit he received getting about 1.08TH @ 850-890W.

And I am by no means advocating for them, I got burned on some X1's. Just putting the information out there.

I should also add that BA hasn't dropped the price of the X3, we're talking $5,949.15 or $2.70/GH right now.

I have a piece of them.  300gh worth nothing to speak about.

 I have 2 s-3's mining.
 I have 2 s-3's in batch-4

I may order 1 more set of 2 in batch-5.

 I will decide later today.

It's a decent price.
If I was getting it in a few days.
No way I'm pre-ordering 3 weeks out.

EDIT: Also, maybe next Bitmain, you'd consider opening a batch at a time when people who work a conventional job could access it?  I missed batch 4 by 4-5 hours, and it was sold out.

Ha that's awesome.

About the asic status - I have one S1 that will always show one board dead after power off and back on. I'm not kidding I have to reboot it like 20-30 times and it always goes back to all zeros. Once it is all zeros it is totally fine unless it gets powered off again. So try reboots. Power cycles on this one s1 just throw it back into all X status. I have to reboot.

Thanks I tried rebooting and using all 4 PCI-E slots and nothing changed I also reset the Antminer back to factory setting and set the IP address and my pools back up again, then rebooted still nothing, so I opened it up to see if there was excess Thermal Paste and there wasn't, if anything there didn't appear to be enough on some of the chips, so I spread it over carefully to cover each chip, put it back together again and hey presto all 0's again! very strange but hey I am glad to have gotten rid of the -  Smiley

Is it just me or does the units that actually handle OC seem be very good units, the 2 I've found so far takes 250Mhz without breaking a sweat Oo

How long have you had them at 250? Any increase in hw errors?

HW errors barely seem to move, seems discarded is the thing to look out for when OCing more than HWs, or chips shutting down as usual.
I'll update if I remember it when I'm done going trough all units and had them running for longer.

Haha, somebody is a little sensitive.
Not at all. Merely hoping to inject some levity and perspective.

Who might you suggest I patronize to receive ~2.6TH/s shipping out August 7th for cheaper than 3.39 BTC @ < 1W/GHs?

The pain of bfl never goes away - can't believe they are still in business...

Nice to see Batch 4 sell out so quickly Smiley Picked up another 6 in Batch 5 Smiley

Wow, cant believe the batch 5 price is only 0.01 lower than batch 4.  An S3 should make ~0.09 during that time.  Each batch is a worse deal...
as long as the batches keep selling this fast the price will not drop to fast.

Seems that Bitmain realizes batch 1 (@ ~0.7 btc each) were way underpriced if they can get 0.65 btc a month later.
