Whats the consensus on the best firmware to use on these without the GHS dropping. I have 10/24 dropping GHS with 0720 set as the Voltage and S3 Standard frequency.I also have one running on the 12/19 beta and its worse. The funny thing is I own 4 x S3+ that should be able to run at 225 Freq.I dont care about a reset button at this point. Just need a known good firmware. Thanks
Try the 10/13 firmware. It has that problem with the Save & Apply, but that's about all its ills (as far as I remember it's reset button works and I have been running it OK till now!)

There are many many hardware versions of the S3, not all of them support variable voltage AFAIK.

@dogie and @BITMAIN can you please tell us witch versions of S3 support voltage setting? Is it depending on hardware, PIC-firmware or software?

So please inform us about different hardware, PIC-firmware and cgminer versions. I notice changes to the files in the different firmwares.

regards Tomten

Its not firmware or cgminer based, I believe its DC/DC based. There are a few variants of DC/DC. There's no real way to track them seeing as they were/are sold under S3 or S3+, and may or may not span batches.

I have two S3-B2 where hash rate always drops after some time. Both are re pasted. That helped one a bit, it stay stable for 12-24h before dropping.
I have tested all firmwares, with similar result. The 1126 firmware gave me some hope, with 0760 voltage both run somewhat stable for 24h.
But that was temporarily, they did both drop after that. And a restart, witch always have got them up to speed, did not help much. They fast dropped
down to about 350Gh/s (30-60min). Playing with voltage seemed to help a bit, but always dropping after 1h.
I tested 1219 firmware, but that was worse. Barley got over 400Gh/s.
Now I am on 1013 firmware, with my updated cgminer-monitor script that restarts when hash rate is low. That is working good.

So please inform us about different hardware, PIC-firmware and cgminer versions. I notice changes to the files in the different firmwares.

Can you do combinations like
07650 = 0.765
07350 =  0.735
Would these examples be a correct way to use voltage. Just making sure

I would like to try to get 231 Freq working any ideas on where to start voltage wise between 0.7xx and 0.7xx

Thanks
That question is best addressed to bitmain tech, also I am neither an electrical nor software engineer; saying that, there is no reason not to try that particular setting (or a combination of the lot), seeing I have tried all the freqs listed in that table without letting out any blue smoke from any of the S3 variants I've tried them on.
As always, at your own risk!

I just had to edit my post looks like 0720 is right for 225 freq but have to monitor for 24hrs make sure theres no unexplained drops

Seems low to me, but I'm going to try it, myself

Seems low to me too from what I have been reading but right now my GHS is consistent above 432GHS.

I derived the table below from the BM1382 datasheet, the red numbers are the non shipping OC's (and therefore estimates for the settings and speed), however the rest are straight from the datasheet.

So the datasheet recomended voltage setting for freq 225 is 0.72v, i.e 0720

I am running the 231 on ALL 106 s3's.   some i did 072, some I did 068.  it did NOT make a bit of diff.  all the ants are running OK.  except some are dropping blades.

I have 4 x S3 antminers . I had the 10/24 firmware on them seems like MY GHS was dropping from 450 to 340+ but never going back up to 450 or even close any ideas. When I reboot the GHS jumps back up for about 10-12HRs then back down again. All set at s3+ default 225. I changed the voltage to 0770. I just installed Doges firmware on one of them to try it. Any one has any ideas it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
I know I am quoting myself but it looks like 0720 is normal voltage for 10/24 firmware running 225 Freq and 0725 for Dogies 12/19 Firmware at 225 Freq looks right. I will have to let them run for 24hrs and see what happens. Might have to go with the 12/19 firmware if everything keeps running okay because it looks like the 12/19 is running better then the 10/24 . Ill keep everyone posted. Thanks

My question would be, if the wattage is not changing at the wall, is it doing anything at all???

edit: referencing the voltage.. changing the freq definitely changes the watts at the wall

has anyone used the --log-file options?

I am having issues with one miner, and bitmain support asked me to enable this feature.. doesnt seem to be working very well though..

        PARAMS="$AOPTIONS $POOL1 $POOL2 $POOL3 $_pb $_ow $_bec --api-listen --api-network --bitmain-checkn2diff --bitmain-hwerror --log-file /root/cgminer.log -D --version-file /usr/bin/compile_time --queue 4096"

Thanks Dogie.  I'm very new and not very computer literate - I can see how to update the firmware, but where does it tell me the current firmware?

Can I get some beta testers for a new S3 firmware please? Download link is here, it *should* be good to go but as you know....

Rolls back to the last good patch in Oct (1024), but fixes voltage adjustment and the important reset button. Hopefully.... let me know.

Hello Dogie.

Could you tell us what version of CGMINER has in this versión of Firmware, please?.

Is posible test the versión 4.8 or 4.9, please?

Best Regards.
Antuam

I'm not sure, someone else will have to answer that for you. First step is getting a stable firmware with working reset button again.

Hello everyone

Hopefully someone can help me.

I rigged up my first 3 s3's last night and they were running at about 450gh/s, so all OK.

Overnight they all went down to about 200gh/s, so I turned them all off and started them again - they then went up to 450gh/s again.

They have been working for about 4 hours and now one of them has reduced again, but at the moment the other 2 seem to be OK.

Any advise would be great!  They are new from Bitmain yesterday,.

Thanks
Adam

UPDATE- Today so far only 1 of them is doing it, just reducing to about 200gh/s approx. every 4 hours.

What firmware are you on? If its later than 1024 then install 1024 again or my beta firmware.

Can I get some beta testers for a new S3 firmware please? Download link is here, it *should* be good to go but as you know....

Problem: Power supply shutdown suddenly with in 5 mins of starting miner.

What is your exact PSU?

below is screen shot of psu

Yep, PSU problems. Its not sufficient to power an entire S3 as both PCI-E cables are on one rail.

do what i did, go to "scheduled tasks" and input this

0 */4 * * * /sbin/reboot

this reboots ur miners every 4 hours or u can select whatever amount to put in, i found they lasted 4 hours and then required a kick in the ass to get the ghs back up there.

I am not really good at linux. Can you please provide instructions on how to do this. After I get to the command prompt of putty. Also is this a known problem with the S3.  Thanks

A reboot wont fix this when the S3 drops a blade, I have to shut down psu for a few seconds and power back up again.

I hope bitmain fixes the dropping of the blades issue.  I have about 2 or 3 drop every day (out of 106)

Which firmware are you dropping blades on?

I think all mine are on 10.24.....
