cheap shit is cheap

and shit

and overpriced

and hazardous

glad i refused to partake of bitmains repetitious bait & switch game albeit a bit late

I have to disagree. Out of ten S3 that I bought, one worked slightly below ad rates (~418 Gh), one worked at par (441 GH), one at ~465GH and the rest (seven) at 478GH.
I only applied updates until August, all machines were working nonstop with nary any interruption.
I am a very satisfied S3 customer.

I've got three, on the open market, so probably the worst of the bunch.
1 x 420 2 x 470, October firmware was great, even latest latest firmware, has caused me to no longer be able to run 3 on my one PSU, and one to never get above 430GH/s. Draws more voltage, by 150W over the three.

I have had good luck with 20 plus s-3's and of 10 plus s-1's I had one bad one that minersource helped me out with a crossed shipped replacement.
So at least 30 working units to 1 bad one.

So I boughts (25) S3+ B11 a few weeks ago. Firmware were all dated August 2014. I had done my research and already knew there is big trouble with latest firmwares. I checked bitmaintech/support and found a firmware for s3 called antMiner_S320141216.bin that was dated 12-16-2014 . Downloaded and applied to all 25. Everything is running perfect. But then I keep reading the threads, and notice there is no mention of this firmware even existing. I return to bitmaintech/support and noticed the firmware is now been removed. I dont have hash speed issues, infact I average over 500Ghs on all. So Im not sure what to make of this. Sounds like it was uploaded and I downloaded it within a small window of maybe a day or less while it was up. It appears Bitmain found some kind of issue with it, and quickly removed it. It has worked flawless for me. Just wanted to mention it. Ill post it on my site if anyone requests it.

Vegas

Vegas theres a 12/19 Beta that seems to be okay you can ask BitmainWarranty PM for a copy of it. Send your email address to them. I have been running it for a day with no issues so far.

I have just 3 of them on a 1300W G2 EVGA. I found the problem, the one in the middle is so bad it was causing the power supply to shut down, and hopefully did not damage it. When I plug this middle miner in, the power supply cant even turn on. It seems this middle S3+ was bringing down at first one side, and then eventually all 3 miners.

Just a few of my miners:
Gig switch, goes to other smaller switches
Sitting on concrete with wire shelves. The blue stuff is to make the concrete water tight, blue max. Left and right set of miners go to other drops
20 amp wiring, each side has its own drop: (have many of these, only 3 miners per 20amp drop)

Hi mrpark,

You have so many ants i believe you know how to do some troubleshooting, can you check which part of S3+ is broken?
Thanks for your time on the troubleshooting, wait for your update here.

The one Antminer must be shorted inside, when a power supply is connected it wont power up at all.

Please try below steps:
1. Reconnect all cables and connection before you power on this S3+
2. Exchange the control board or hash baords from other good unit to test which part is broken.
Please send an email including your email box and order ID to [email protected], transfer the discussion there.

Is there a setting with the new firmware to make the S3 more energy efficent?
Does changing the voltage and frequenty lead to better power efficiency.
I need to make some room in my farm for 2 S5's and only have 4 kw.

Hi SunnyIgor,

In order to 100% make sure the latest version is fully good, engineers is doing the final testing, and will be issued soon.
However several customers have tested it, feedback it is working well. We would like to send one to you if you need to try it in a hurry. PM me your email address Smiley

Check sum
7df1b12d28b25e10aac37e2eafc7397b

Figured out what the problem was. I changed the /etc/init.d/cgminer file to turn on the API. I copied in one of the forum and it was missing the tail end of the original code

PARAMS="$AOPTIONS $POOL1 $POOL2 $POOL3 $_pb --api-listen --api-network --api-allow W:127.0.0.1,W:192.168.1.0/24

This is the tail end that was missing

--bitmain-checkn2diff --bitmain-hwerror --bitmain-voltage $_vl --version-file /usr/bin/compile_time --queue 4096"

So it look like voltage and error checking was gone

Fixed now working great

The firmware is the same then, are you using the API to change settings or just as read only monitoring?

I had to add the --api-allow W:127.0.0.1,W:192.168.1.0/24  . But I commented out the one that was there and copied a new line in that was missing the --bitmain-checkn2diff --bitmain-hwerror --bitmain-voltage $_vl --version-file /usr/bin/compile_time --queue 4096" . I allowed full control and monitoring. Thanks

Sorry to post that question here.

Not sure, but Antminers seem to be very stable on ckpool.

I have a batch of S3+ I bought, all are running on 1300W power supplies, At first they worked, but now suddenly I can only get 228Gh/s out of them ( I see many post with the same issue), even when i reboot or try 1013 image. I am not too happy about this, what can I do? I guess I have beg you now to use a beta firmware? what to do to fix this. I just found out I missed days of mining because of these miners which are not stable.

Can I send these piece of crap defective S3+'s back and get a refund for S5? No, because you charged me out my butt for shipping so I can't return them to you...

Every other tab i get some HTML error message.

XML Parsing Error: not well-formed Location: http://192.168.1.118/cgi-bin/luci/xxx/admin/status/miner/ Line Number 348, Column 34:   Modify voltage and Save&Apply, then need to Power off and Restart -------------------------------------------------------------^

Can anyone tell me what to do with these half baked pieces of junk that dont work with bad code, and I tried all the images, still same crap. And dont give me any crap about it's my power supply, I am using EVGA G2 1300W. And it's not just one miner.

How many S3+ on your power supply? you say batch of? you say not just one? what's the watts at the wall?

SSH in using a tool such as putty and execute the following command(username and password are "root")
Code:
sed -i 's/Save\&Apply/Save\&Apply/g' /usr/lib/lua/luci/model/cbi/cgminer/cgminer.lua
