Dude you are WAAAYYYY out of the loop... The s7 mines BTC - not altcoins, and BTC miners have been rated in THs since late 2014. The s7 speeds range from 4.3 to 5.3THs

I'd watch out for temps with an intake of 35c, you will want fans full speed at that temperature or overheats can occur. Ducts like these work great and iirc Phil recommends these to lower noise as well.

I wasn't thinking about s7, but just antminer's in general.

With regard to room temperatures, what you stuck a big hose like this one onto the exhaust so that the exhaust air goes directly outside: https://www.lowes.com/pd/IMPERIAL-12-in-x-300-in-Insulated-Polyester-Flexible-Duct/50401798

Then the intake air is at 35C. Would that be OK?

Oh well, and yeah ambient temps keep em as low as you can, if its too hot in there you have heat exhaust problems. S7 is still profitable if you have low power cost, with the bitcoin cash thing and all

When you guys are talking about temperature, youre talking about the temp of the circuits? Is that the hottest temp anywhere on the unit?

What is the ideal room temperature?

Dont forget to set your fan on manual setting. dont put 100%. I run mine at 30%, its relatively quiet and temps are 59-64c. It is winter outside, so that helps a lot (its my garage heater lol). dont run above 70 to be safe, but some do.

I think this will vary depending on batch. Considering batch 8+ were using less chips and higher freq..... should be more tempature.

Pre-batch 8 were talking more chips and lesser freq. I would think less temperature I think that is something to consider. But once you start to talk underclocking I'm sure you can get quieter and less heat. As some have mentioned.

I just don't mind the noise or heat with my mining area it's kinda a moot point on noise for me. My fan's are loud but put out a lot of CFM and move some serious air. So sound has become a moot point ever since I built my mining area.

My batch 9 underclocked to 600M runs about 65 degrees C with fans at 32% / 3,000 rpm pulling about 1,225watts on 230v.

Thanks all for the responses.

It got to the point where I was leaving the windows wide open all day/night which isn't a wise idea considering I live in a town house (fire regulations meaning the windows can't be restricted and so anybody from outside can pull them wide open). This was even with outdoor temperatures of 5-10 degrees celcius through the day.

I bought a mobile air con unit for $400, it's vented straight towards the mining setup and has dropped the room temp from a staggering 30 odd degrees down to a nice 18 degrees. I just need to drill through the wall to properly vent the AC unit and then I can close the windows and the neighbours can stop worrying about the noise coming from my front office room as I'm sure they think I'm some kind of cannabis grower Grin

They're now hashing at 4.72Th/s and 52/50/49 temps and fan speed set at 50%. With the door closed it's pretty quiet, you can just about hear it from the bedroom and other rooms but nothing at all that's remotely distracting.

Ack! I just thought of something. I look at my miners from the exhaust side so when I say the left side that's looking at it from the exhaust side of the miner.

Thanks I'll try putting it on it's side. Does it matter if it sits on its left side or right side? I'd rather not have the larger heat sinks facing down. I worry about gravity eventually pulling the heat sinks off.

After putting the miner on its left side without moving the position I can say that the temperatures dropped from 77 down to 72 after running for about 2 hours. Now I left it on its side and swapped the position of the S7 with the one next to it. It's been running about 10 minutes and the temperature is around 61. This is all at 650mhz on a batch 10. The other miner that is now in the "hot spot" is also on it's right side now and still running at 62. Thanks for the tips VirosaGITS and Legacy2005.

could try moving it away from the other miner. i had 4 next to each other and only 1 was showing hot. so i moved it and now its much happier.

could be that the batch 10 is just in an air dead zone. could crack it open and check all the heatsinks/paste perhaps they werent done properly it is a mass produced product after all.
