Yeah I don't have to dispute your opinion but on the other hand, I really don't think it is actually a mistake if a new casino decides to start an application software from the very onset of their starting stage because I've seen casinos especially the local ones in my country and that is because there was an allocation for it.
When starting any business, in other for you to ease up the process, what truly matters is the capital and irrespective of the team you have for any project, if there isn't enough start-up capital, the building process wouldn't be an easy one.
I personally prefer using app versions of most of the local casinos around me and that's because it's convenient for me rather than the web version.

Good quality web sites are designed in such a way that a gambler can get all kinds of advantages. That's not exclusive to apps though. I think you're still at risk even if you use websites. Phishing is still a popular scam method, and they don't need you to install apps to do that. Most app scams are probably fake apps, malicious app installation, and so on, so it doesn't really reduce the risk of getting scammed through phishing links or keyloggers. A good way to prevent this is if the developer allows users to build their own apk or provide a hash for the apk so that the users can verify the app.

I've never heard about ongoing security audits for apk development. Probably not the norm since it is costly and the incentive to do that is low if you can just ask the users to submit bug.
