I mine Bytecoin (BCN) with my Core i7 2600k at work. I transfer it to Poloniex to keep it there and I exchange it when the price goes up. I don't think that Monero is more profitable to mine than Bytecoin. I have tried to mine it too but I have been much more successful with Bytecoin and price has gone up considerably lately.

HODL coin, good time to mine as it's been having some good flip action over at coinexchange.io recently.

@GabryRox : Where did you came up with 120W bro ? maybe in idle . All 3 CPUs should eat around 300W. I have a i7 4790k and it eats 80W alone, the 6700k i think it draws the same power and the 2600k should draw more .

Mine XMR with CPU. Coz it uses less electricity and is profitable

ATM there is really nothing, I really hope some smart guys can come out with something that is really CPU based.  Or else we are totally controlled by those big mining companies.

Sorry, but this is simply not true. Certainly XMR is quite profitable mining with a good GPU now that the price has jumped like 50%, but even before that, when it was at around $8 at the time of this comment, it was still reasonably profitable. Here are my stats to prove it:

-i7-2600k hashes 210/s
-i7-4790k hashes 310/s
-i7-6800k hashes 360/s

So, a total of 880 H/s using a total wattage of about 120.  That is a daily profit of about $1.50 at current rates, but was close to $1 a day before the current rise in price, so XMR has been profitable to mine via higher end CPUs for quite a while.

Now, of course, there is a big kicker here... this "profitability" is based on existing CPUs in existing systems.  Meaning, you already have the system running and aren't using your CPU for anything else, so you wanna try a bit of mining to make $.  In this scenario, you most certainly can make a bit of profit as I have shown above.  However, if you are talking about justifying the purchase of a brand new higher end CPU like a 6800k at full price vs say a g4400 or something like that, then it really probably won't ever ROI for you, or at least not for a very long time, inless XMR really goes through the roof. If you assume $400 for that 6800k, it would take close to 2 years to ROI fully at current rates. But, I think most people are asking this based on PCs they already have, so those are very good candidates for CPU mining XMR.

Try ArtByte, the official pool pays a bonus to all CPU miners, thereby keeping CPU mining profitable.

ArtByte (ABY) is traded on Poloniex and Bittrex

I am looking for some mining stats and I can not seem to find anything on this.  I am interested and I have a number of computer si could dedicate to this mining, however I need to see some mining stats please?

This is a scrypt coin right?

Yes you can mine scrypt and most algos with CPU... but its a complete waste of time and power.
IF you have a pretty heavy new CPU like Core i7-3960X you still only get like 100kh/s scrypt.... using 200w or more maybe. Loss of money.

Also most light algos are asic dominated... like scrypt.

Why spend i7 time and power when you can get a little gridseed asic doing TEN times the i7 speed with 65W power...
(random example of shit asic still utterly smashing any cpu.... )

So maybe if you have a couple of 100 servers with free electricity ... you could mimic what a few asics could do.

IF the algo is available to asics or GPU .. its a complete waste of time for CPU.
GPUs smash CPUs like asics.
Thats just the way it is.

You can even mine Ethash with CPU ... but again you'll need like 60 machines to mimic a semi ok GPU.... and thats just 1 simple gpu.

Which coin i can mine with intel quad core 3000? Or i will need to upgrade my pc?

Almost anything. The question you should be asking is, which coins can I mine profitably (depending on what your definition of that word is).

One of my mining machines runs a i5-3210m, another an i7-3770 so just because it's from the 3 series of core processors (Ivy Bridge) shouldn't immediately disqualify it. Of course I should clarify that CPU mining on those machines adds very little to my overall mining output.

I am playing with Litecoin right now.  I am not sure how well I am doing since it took me almost 3 days to mine 1/2 of one coin, but it is something I am playing with.  I am just wondering if there is something I can do to mine faster?  I have over 30 computers in my house, of which I can turn all of them on, since my electric is included in my rent, but I do not know what to mine.

Litecoin, like all Scrypt-based coins, is dominated by ASIC miners. No point to even TRYING to mine it with a GPU much less a CPU.

Hi guys, can you suggest me what is the best to mine now using CPU ? Is Monero still good  ?

Thanks!

It depends on your price of electricity, the hash rate of the network, and the hashes your CPU can produce, but the consensus seems to be that Monero's value will continue to rise. That makes it worth mining to me, but maybe not for everyone.

So XMG price is dropping like a stone. Time to mine something else...
Any suggestions?

It largely depends on your cost of electricity. That alone makes most CPU mining unprofitable (unless the price of the coin skyrockets and/or your electricity is dirt cheap or free). If it's free, mine Monero (XMR).

I have to ask why you suggest this coin for CPU mining?  Can you recommend me to any threads where I can read more about this mining and if I like this mining, can I upgrade to a GPU or a better miner in order to make more?  Thank you for your opinion in advance.
