You gain respect when you make meaningful posts and you contribute to community development more than your rank.

There are plenty of legendaries I have absolutely no respect for. And plenty of lowlier members I do.

Most legendaries won't have earned it through merit, there's a tiny number of those, so the only thing you had to do before the merit system to become one is shitpost for long enough without getting banned.

I guess the only benefit you enjoy is the money you get from wearing signatures because you get higher stakes. You gain respect when you make meaningful posts and you contribute to community development more than your rank.

Yes, it does not come easy at all. I think it took me 3 or 4 years before I reached Legendary. You had to be active, even before the Merit system was introduced and you had to post constructively or your account would have been banned. It was even harder to do, because people participating in Signature campaigns were under the magnifying glass and you had to post quality content or people would report your posts to the mods.  Tongue

No matter if you did this with or without the Merit system, it is still a big achievement and a Mount Everest to climb.  Wink
As of writing, my total log-in time is: 35 days, 1 hours and 54 minutes. Maybe with challenge from merit system, I might have to spend 2 or 4 years to become a Legendary member, but it does not a big matter, and does not an ultimate goal to be here.
I learned a lot from the forum, after merit system kicked in. Honestly, before the lively operations of merit system, I did post shit, but after that I realized my problems, and shits I brought to the forum. I accept the challenge, changed myself, improved my English, keep learning, and yeah, essential thing is save posts/ threads that I think helpful for future reference. Merit system took me more than 1.5 years to rank up to Senior Member from Full Member, but when I hit it, I was extremely happy. Because I do realized that my decent efforts are make sense.
Looking back, I also see my knowledge, and skills in crypto increased considerably. That are one of main purposes to be here.

I think this is the closest answer to the question especially for those who ranked up after the activity and merit system were introduced. You need to put in real time and effort to achieve that rank.

If you are interested in Bitcoin, ofc it is super cool to have a legendary account in this forum.

This forum has a lot of history. Being someone who is contributing to the forum, participating in discussions, helping newbies and learning is interesting. Becoming a legendary is like leveling up . I wanna get there.

as I read in xtraelv signature"we are surrounded by legends here"

If you are just interested in bounties, it is also useful because you will get higher payout... But I believe that in a few months /years  legendary spammers will be worthless accounts.

The reference to legends doesn't just refer to legendary accounts. It refers to people who have contributed to the crypto community in various ways. There are bitcoin heros on this forum like Satoshi, Theymos, Hal Finney, Adam Beck etc. As well as various villains like Alexander Vinnick,  Ross Ulbricht, Michael Brown etc as well as people who are still making history.

Space or not what this person post makes sense and understandable, many replied and you seem to be the only one complaining,a newbie that can still post a neat post like that is fine by me

What is even more interesting to me is the fact that you where registered 2 days after your buddy Samayuki.
You are from same region, and you have very similar activity.

PS
I was just giving my honest advice not complaining,
and my point was not on his english skills,
but rather on what to focus more.

All the best

If you earned your legendary status, then it is nice to know that you are contributing to the forum, and that the members recognise this. I think it is sad if you think that the only reason to become a legendary is to fly a higher paying signature. Many legendaries don't have paid signatures.

Legendary is only a rank-calling, nothing more. You don't need to be a Legendary member to be a real Legendary in the forum.
nullius is a Full Member by now (due to his lack of activities last one year), but even more than one year ago, @nullius was a real Legendary, in my opinion. At least, in his high-quality posts on technical issues, and he is a merit-beast.

Moreover, overthinking on reasons why you should become a Legendary, how far you have to go to reach it, how many merits you have to earn more to meet that rank's requirements; all of them will solely hold you back, rather than moving forwards.

A user at member rank can make a higher quality post compared to post made by a Legendary spammer. If you can do it, you will become a real Legendary someday.

Yes there's, you gain the experience, knowledge, sign of satisfaction and believe you can accomplish anything you set your mind at. If you can achieve the legendary status with the new system (merit system), it only means one way or the other you have been productive to the forum as a result you must have gained the previous benefits i listed above. Also any reason to try to rank-up generally makes you a good forum users, which benefits the forum in regards to making the forum conducive for Intelligent and decent conversation (AKA spam free forum).

As much as I encourage everyone to try becoming a quality forum user, I don't advice you put too much attention on the merit system as it can distract you from other benefits the forum offers or lead to depressions/desperation as you will get frustrated when you're not getting the merits you were hunting for.

Once you reached hero member, you already have the most fancy possible signature. And therefore there is no difference in the earnings between a hero and a legendary. At least i am not aware of a campaign which distinguishes between heroes and legendaries.

There are some ad signature campaigns which will pay a bit more more if you're a Legandary vs Hero member:

Advantage of being legendary in bitcointalk:

1.More signature space

2.Five stars under your profile.

3.While being a participant of campaign chances of getting more rewards.

1. You get the maximum signature space when getting Member (4000 characters).
And there is no difference regarding the signature between legendary and hero member.

2. You get 5 coins once you reach hero member. When turning legendary, the last coin turns half blue.

3. Usually there is no difference between a hero and a legendary member regarding the rewards.

It is very hard to understand your question.

Best thing is first to practice and learn english a bit better

I don't know what exactly you don't understand in OP's question.. but i understood it without problems.

Maybe your english is not good enough to understand his question ? OP's language skills are definitely good enough to be understood.

Yeah, maybe I could  phrase it a bit better,
and it is regarding lack of spaces in his sentence

... respectful rankand higher bounty reward?is there other things that can motivate me to want to be a Legendary member?pls share

and my suggestion for him was not to aim for Legendary rank and then lose motivation,
but to go step by step... one rank at the time. At the moment he is still a Newbie .

I hope you understand.

PS
My English is far from perfect, but I am still learning every day.

It is very hard to understand your question.

Best thing is first to practice and learn english a bit better,
or be more active in your local Bitcointalk community forum section.

You give yourself a reachable goal, Jr.member, than member...
and maybe even highest ranks who knows

The legendary title just shows that you are long member of this community.
There is no real impact at all. Especially in comparison to the hero member status.

Once you reached hero member, you already have the most fancy possible signature. And therefore there is no difference in the earnings between a hero and a legendary. At least i am not aware of a campaign which distinguishes between heroes and legendaries.

But you don't need to reach one of these both ranks to get a reputable member on this forum.
Your actions count more than the title below your username.

15 people have made it to Legendary needing merits in the process (14 were Hero Members to start with, and one was a Sr. Member (@bob123)).

So i am the first Sr. reaching legendary after merit got introduced? Sounds sweet.

Its nice and all but don't put too much effort trying to rank up your virtual points when you should be doing more things in real life and making memories.  Reminds me of people that spend all day on video games to get a virtual badge when it ultimately just shows how much valuable time you wasted.

There are lies, damned lies and statistics. MTwain
<...>
This is the current set of profiles that have formally ranked-up under the Merit System:

15 people have made it to Legendary needing merits in the process (14 were Hero Members to start with, and one was a Sr. Member (@bob123)). In addition, 70 profiles made it to Hero, 122 to Sr. Member, 194 to Full Member, 3.420 to Member and 10.565 to Jr. Member.

This is interesting to see too:

The reading is that 734 profiles could have made it to legendary (minimum 775 activity- not considering magic number), but only 15 of them have made it so far. Likewise for example, 1.331 Sr. Members could have made it to Hero (by activity), but only 70 comply additionally with the merit requirement.

<...> So i am the first Sr. reaching legendary after merit got introduced? Sounds sweet.
Yep, as per my calculations.
