Wattman is part of AMD drivers. Open up AMD’s Radeon Settings app and click the Gaming tab, then Global Settings, and finally the Global WattMan tab.

Who is the best for vega ? wattman or afterburner ? thanks .
Wattman + overdriventool + notepad with regedit are the best

Thanks for this information. What does notepad mean?

Afterburner cannot alter Vega drivers yet as they are still in beta.  I hope they will allow full access eventually as I dont want to use wattman, some prefer to use OverdriveNTool to access the figures directly but that requires the custom profile be selected and applied first within wattman.
I'm using OverdriveNTool and it is working good regardless of what settings are selected in Wattman.
I'm using AMD Radeon Settings for HBCC only

Apparently, the RX Vega refresh in 2018 is going to be on 12 nano metres, as opposed to 14 nano metres.

So, remember to have some capital for the upgraded GPU line next year.

Any word on which quarter of the year the refresh is aimed for?

I read that a 7nm like Navi next generation is also possible for Vega refresh.  I dont know if that comes later perhaps but its possible greater gains appear then happened with 480 and 580.

AMD is always quite unknown, Navi itself was rumoured to appear in 2018 Q3 which seems most unlikely of all

Hello, I have 2 vega rx 64, and one of them hash less than another, with identical settings. 1 - 1900 h/s, 2 - 1700 h/s. Second one with HDMI emulator plug in, so the main card. Do someone know how to solve the problem?

I have a card that ran fine for 3 days with softplaymod 0.9V 1400/1100 but now whenever its on load whether it be mining or a benchmark like furmark it instantly crashes. the GPU tach lights turn off and the fan suddenly seems to run at full speed.

A restart doesnt even fix it. I have to fully shutdown the rig.

Any ideas what could be the cause? I've tried moving slots, risers, PSU, DDU driver uninstall and reinstall, no softplaymod at stock settings and it still happens...

So is it crash at full stock setting now?

Try test one card a time, find out the broken one then RMA.

BTW, why you want to run furmark?

Blockchain mining use a part of GPU only, not all.  So you can not measure steady through 3D benchmark.

try to remove 2 rx 560 cards from rig.
With current amd drivers there is a problem with HBCC for Vega if you have more then 4 any AMD cards in the rig.
Also 32 gb virtual memory can be not enough

Thank you for the recommend. And also I find the 8G system RAM looks not very enough.  Grin

Any thoughts why my hashrate is dropping?

Either HBCC is turning off somehow (some other program or task starting?) or your fans aren't high enough (put em around at least 3000) to keep the HBM mem cool enough to sustain the high hashrate

I've had the same problem - I don't think it's HBCC, becasue I can restart the miner without touching HBCC and speeds are back to normal. That made me think it was temp - but even with fans over 4000rpm in a cool room it would still happen.

I tried both using the iGPU, as others have suggested, and going into Control Panel - System - Advanced System Settings - Performance Settings, and then switching to adjust for best performance (Disabling all the windows animations). That worked for me.

How much ram do you have?

I switched to iGPU, windows best performance settings set, no programs running (only Windows Defender and Avast).
Added 4gb of ram. Now at 8gb... can see HBCC slider, but it's not movable.
Fans over 3800 rpm... temps never exceed 55C.

I see some difference, it doesn't drop as much as before... around 100 H/s. EDIT: Only the second card drops from 1900 to ~1800. The first one starts at 1550 and stays stable.

Both cards runs two threads (2016, 1800).
I guess i didn't win the silicon lottery with the first one.

What is your hashrate? Care to share P-States settings?
Gonna try fiddling with the beta overdriveNTool.

You need 16GB of RAM, put slider to 15GB.

hi all, tell me which is the best card from all the Vega:  GIGABYTE, MSI, Sapphire or HIS ?

billhinge tell me which is card you use and what miner you use?

The original AMD FE from July, no brand, xmr-stak-amd

Hmm, so I have 3x Vega FE in now

running 32GB system Ram

Config has 6 threads

2016 & 1900 per card but its maxing out at 4600H/s fo 3 cards using same settings as I was using for 1 card
(found trick was to set a custom fan profile in afterburner than turns up fans to near max above near 40C so that the core & mem settings load asap) and save all good profiles

Anyone know the relation between threads, weight and system RAM? (using fixed 100Gb swap)

draw on wall is 934w and about 200w idle

just wondering if there is any bus limitation?

maybe a new B250 board would help?

Tried an overclock on cpu to 4.4GHz and switched to PCIe x1 - no effect

noticed afterburner had sync cards set so I checked global settings

2 cards had HBCC at 3200mb and 1 had 2300mb (the min)

I unchecked the sync cards and restarted xmr-stak and afterburner and the one with lowest hbcc is running 200h/s slower

on the face of it , it looks like resource congestion  Grin Huh

Reset everyting and each block of 2016 threads is doing approx 745H/s (x6) with hbcc at 2388 on each, all syncronised in afterburner

PS upped virtual Ram to 120GB so it seems like its real RAM thats the issue

There is still no difference between the brands.  AIB cards are not yet available, Ive not heard of any variation especially.  There is some warranty differences there and not much else.    The only thing you can note is revision number in gpu-z and this alters some % performance some say

Having had the 17.10.1 screw windows to the point of being unbootable after a failed uninstall I used windows 10 repair to do a complete cleanup of drivers but keeping personal files. Neat trick to get rid of old drivers and afterburner settings. Now back at 2100H/s with one card running at 68C and drawing 320w at wall inc mobo etc at 80/90w.

back on good old blockchain drivers

Ok, I'm going to set up a new rig with just FE and see if I can enable HBCC.  Can you walk me through your setup and settings to 2100H/s?

I have 3 vega fe but this is just a single card installed

blockchain drivers and afterburner 19 on virgin windows 10 - 'restore' clean from usb install to clear out the crap
card bios switch away from power connectors (supposed to be for water cooled fe only)
custom fan curve, temp 68C, power max but could possibly tweak, core 1648, mem 1100 steady
HBCC max at 32G - not sure if that makes a diff?, virtual ram managed by windows - got same result by setting to fixed 100GB
PC has 32G, i7 skylake at 4.00ghz on 18 month old z170-ud5 th using mining bios settings
save

two threads 2016 at worksize 8 in xmr-stak-amd
card drawing about 280W but unfortunately I can't get the undervolt on afterburner to work, reducing power can reduce watts but I'm scared to spoil it  Grin

not sure what the magic numbers are in xmr-stak config for a third thread

Perfect, thank you.  I'll start getting it setup tonight with a fresh windows 10 install and 16g of ram, too many kids to do anything during the day.

Are these settings (Monero and Vega - the definitive guide - REDDIT thread) actual for FE?
Or are there any "specified" settings for FE?
Does the rule of "NO MORE THAN 4 VEGAs" is actual for FE (want to set 8 FEs in ONE rig)?
