The Vega GPU cost a lot comparing to other GPUs which cost less and have the same (if not more) hashpower.

It is reported that the RX Vega has a hashpower of ~30.9/s - 32 MH/s but that doesn't mean it has to cost double as some other GPUs that have 25MH/s

$1k is a lot, the Liquid-Cooled Frontier Edition cost $1.5k, calculate how long will take the ROI comparing to a Rx 480 or RX 580 8GB

I'd rather have 2 x 1070 than 1 vega @ $1K

To Hash or not to Hash, that's what the question
August 14, 2017, 03:54:03 PM
Just checked ebay, one dude posted receipt of morning purchase from Microcenter... sells it for $1050

I have a feeling, that once AMD will realise that nobody wants those cards... they will change their policy of " ...not having miners in perspective..." if they wont, it will be a HUGE failure to address market needs. I have a few clients who wanted vega today... talked to them they said they are considering just buying 1080ti cards...

maybe they want release vega mining edition? unlocked or something else
considering the problems with the number of video cards for gamers, they probably made conclusions and a large hash may not be.

RX VEGA = EPIC FAIL!!!!!

whats wrong with amd what do they expect ..Huh only miners buy amd cards all prof gamers i know use nvidia for gaming they are much more supported in games than amd will ever be and thats the truth... and now this only 31 to 40 mh/s is super slow for a card that uses this much energy ethereum miners get 1060 now because 2 1060 outperform the rx vega by far and they also use less energy and you get 2 for the price of one vega right now so this is a whole joke from amd sorry but this sucks!!!

what about hashrate on other algorithms for Vega 56 / 64 ?

Equihash/sigt/c11/skein/lyra2rev etc etc?
look forward, i have posted nicehash bench

So it produces more MH/s in a powersavemode, than in turbo? So with more memory on board, and more heat it produces, its performance may be even lower. Hmm...
what? HBM barely uses power

It would be nice if at least ONE review would realise that "Ethereum mining" is NOT the only GPU mining that happens.
Makes most of these reviews totally worthless.

NowInStock has been pretty much worthless during the "shortage", it responds WAY too slowly.

I agree its almost if the people writing the review are  not miners at all but just gamers... and to get there extra page view they throw half-ass job written words on mining.

It's worked for me. I have been able to get more than 6 cards over the last two months thanks to NowInStock, mostly though Amazon. I keep a browser tab with my alerts open and an alarm that goes off when cards are available. The email notification does have a delay, depending on your email provider.

For example right now you can pre-order Gigabyte AORUS RX 580 8 GB cards for $300 from Amazon.

So i went to our local store to grab one...
Sales person said they had only 4 (!!!) and they got sold out immediately first thing. This is retarded. Its either AMD doesn't have enough supply again or they truly against miners, which will ph_ck them up big deal. Sales person said they will have 4 cards each day for the next month or two and you wont be able to reserve or order them online, only in store and in person and with printed out page with SKU#  (Microcenter)

Sign up for the NowInStock tracker. Seems like it's the best way to get notified when the cards come back in stock.

AMD VEGA :
Same price than nVidia GTX 1080 (VEGA64) or GTX 1070 (VEGA56)
Hashrate lower than a GTX 1080 (non Ti) and power consumption twice.
Noise and heat production are very high.

And probablt some big bugs with they BIOS.

Who want to buy these shitGPUs ?

Top kek this sucks.
I hope youll be able to sell it on ebay or something

Meanwhile NVDA shares are up 6% and keep climbing but I'm sure it has nothing to do with the hashrates  Roll Eyes

http://cryptomining-blog.com/9000-quick-look-at-amds-radeon-rx-vega-64-for-crypto-mining/

so far the results are not "stellar"...

edit:

this quote in particular is telling:

Probably the most important performance that people what to know about is the hashrate for mining Ethereum (ETH) and other crypto coins based on the Ethash algorithm. Unfortunately the out of the box performance from Radeon RX VEGA 64 using the latest Claymore Dual Eth miner that comes with official support for Vega is just around 31-32 MHS. We’ve seen claims of much higher performance being theoretically possible, but we are yet to confirm if it is and if these claims are actually real or just speculation. The not so great thing is that this hashrate is achieved with pretty high power consumption and the higher the temperature of the GPU goes, the lower the performance drops and it is really easy for the air cooler VEGA 64 to get hot.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

it's like the good old 290x - hot and hungry.

The Vega 56 manages around 31MH/s for Ethereum, and the Vega 64 does 33MH/s. Overclocking the VRAM helps boost both cards closer to 40MH/s right now. So at launch, that's not super promising.

40 MH/s on overclocked settings.  Probably 45-50 Mh/s with BIOS mods and driver optimizations?

31-33MH/s should be already overlocked, so by no mean Rega could reach 50mh/s in the near future...
And the vega cards would cost twice watts per mh/s than gtx 1070... shitty card, either from gaming or mining...

Vega Bios is locked, Gamer Nexus stated this on their review. Maybe AMD will focus their drivers for mining after they see that only miners want to use this card as it's a bad cost benefit for gaming.

This card will be very good for those who don't pay energy. Anyway, ETH miners should be scared right now.
