I feel sorry if you are struggling but, whether we admit it or not, the blame is on you. Anyway, forget about the past and try to move on. Better for you to explore the other boards. There's nothing wrong of becoming an alt fanatic but do not isolate yourself inside of it. Find where your other interest and excel on that. And if you really want to have a greater chance of getting merit then be more active from now on (the more entries, the more chances of winning Grin). You supposed to be a FM having 100 pages of in your history but you only have 16. So keep grinding and good luck.

Ps: I actually want to give you one merit to get motivated but unfortunately I don't have smerit right now, sorry.

Hey thanks for the encouraging words. However, i didn't understand this bit - "You supposed to be a FM having 100 pages of in your history but you only have 16." Could you elaborate?
Also, i think someone gave me a merit so it's cool! Maybe i don't think I've been approaching this correctly or been posting in the wrong forums or doing too many bounties. I like giving advice, or posting funny stuff, what's a good section to do that in?

Maybe start by rereading the forum rules? You're posting more then 3 times in a row.

There is no shortcut to get merit. There's no special place to post funny content either. Post something useful and unique,it will eventually comes to you. I'm not sure why you need to gain merits tho unless you want to take part in some sig campaign. With your experience as a (ex)writer for Huobi Global, wouldn't focusing on copywriting services a better choice for you?

oh dang! replies to peoples comments count as posts?? never knew that.
I remember being a Jr Member earlier and now i'm back to newbie that's why i want to get some merit.
And yes, copywriting is actually my niche, but again i don't think that would apply to any of the sections on here... may Off Topic, I guess?

I checked first two pages of your post history and it's clear that you mainly posts on altcoin related boards.

Do you think your posts deserve merit/s? Then submit it at @CryptopreneurBrainboss merit giveaway thread (https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/no-rank-barrier-100-smerit-monthly-giveaway-concentrating-on-alt-subboard-5210222) He's one of the few high rank members who merit altcoin related topics. Don't forget to read the rules he set though.

My personal suggestion for you is to explore/read other parts of the forum. It's not that altcoin boards are bad, it's just that most merit sources rarely visits them because it's a spamfest.

Do you have any other interest? Your twitter profile says you're a poker guy. There's the gambling board in case you want to discuss with other poker players.

By the way, this topic doesn't belong to altcoin board. Perhaps it's better suited for Off-Topic.

Hey this was really helpful. Thanks a ton! I am a semi-pro poker player but didn't even know there was a poker section on bitcointalk. LOL!
This feedback was very constructive and if I had any merit then I'd give you some! hahahaha. Cheers!

I've been a member since 2017 but somehow have not been able to earn a single merit. lol. Does anyone else also have trouble and what can be done to increase ones chances of getting some?
I feel you mate even  i didnt recieve any merit coming from someone else, in my third year in these forum i havent recieve merit maybe its due to my low quality posting but i admit it. Im still happy reaching the full member rank.

Could you share some details on what helped you earn more merit over time. The kind of posts you posted, etc?

I've been a member since 2017 but somehow have not been able to earn a single merit. lol. Does anyone else also have trouble and what can be done to increase ones chances of getting some?

You need to post something informative, new or funny in order to get a merit. Your post should be something which other person enjoys reading and give you merit for it. Repeating the same information again and again in spam mega threads wont help you gain any merits even if you keep posting for 10 years.

Ah thanks! what's a good place to post funny content, in your opinion?

I checked your posts and I did not found any of them that deserve one single merit. Posts in bounty thread reporting link, are in the rank of spam. it is not read by managers either and especially not old high ranked members or merit sources. When you post in other section than bounty, it's mostly part of some pointless discussion on useless mega threads, which also no one reads or is interested in. These threads serve to fulfil post quota for signature campaigns.
You need to stop with posting just to write something here, try to be active in discussion and talk with other members here. As @Bttzed03 says, find something that is close to your personal interests and find topics about it, then discuss there, be constructive. It can be gambling, poker or whatever.

You are registered here Feb. 2018 not "since 2017", and you are offline from 27.November 2018 until 20. August 2020, then when you come again, just reposted one of your post two years old. Which is, by the way, the only article from Steemit.

you seem to consider us idiots so you're copy/paste some old news for us, you still expect someone to praise you for it. this is the digital age and Bitcointalk with people here is one of the most advanced. You can't sell us garbage here.

edit: This topic probably belongs to the Meta section

haha yeah that was my bad actually. I remember being a Jr. Member when i was last year and thought it went back to newbie because my activity was low, so i reposted a couple of articles I'd written earlier when I was a writer for Huobi Global.

Oh, complaints about merit have become constant from newbies. Despite that you have been on the forum for a long time, this remains a problem for you.
Perhaps this is simply not your forum. Maybe it's time for you to change your mind and go to cooking or home economics forum. I didn't even bother to read your posts. It can be seen from the reviews that you are an ordinary spammer who hoped to monetize your account. But due to a lack of want and blaming everyone for your failures, you stayed where you started.

I was actually content being a jr member but when i saw i was relegated back to newbie i felt a bit jibbed. It's true that my account does seem a bit spammy but I feel it's because i used to take part mostly in bounty campaigns and I was also a writer for Huobi Global and this was a good place for me to showcase the articles I'd written. However, besides that, I have also offered quite a bit of advice to people on bunch of threads. Maybe I'm not posting in the right threads. What suggestions or constructive feedback would you give?

Not always true because there are merit sources in altcoin sections, from tk08 to Cryptopreneurbainboss. I also received some of my merits in altcoins boards. So at the end, boards don't play as barriers to earn merit,. The barriers are quality of posts and contributions posters out in their posts.

I earned my merits from Altcoin discussion and Service discussion not bounties.

I'd say it's a good 5-10x harder to earn merit from the altcoin sections than anywhere else. It's so hard to be noticed and so few have merit to hand out. That's a fine effort on your part.

Okay, I checked your posting history and, personally, I think you're just a spammer and don't deserve even a single merit. If you disagree with my opinion, show us at least one of your posts that you think is worthy.

Aside from multi posting (which is against the forum rules, btw), all these posts are just copy/paste from steemit articles that serve no purpose other than promoting your referral links.
Plus, given the posting gap of almost two years, this is probably just one of your alt accounts.

Generally,  from my experience I can say that forum members are very fair here and if you write good quality posts they will reward you with merits.
You even have many merit giveaway topics where you can report your good quality posts and ask merits.
Honestly,  if you couldn't get any merit until now,  than check your approach here,  where you write posts,  what you write etc.

Start by forgetting the altcoin section if merit is your desire. No one has any there to give out. After that try a post that is more than a redirect to Steemit. Looks like most of what you're linking to is your writing, but your writing isn't on this forum, it's over there.

Is not about the trouble of getting merit, the problem is people -even merit sources- finding it hard to find post/what to merit. Make it easy by contributing/making post good enough now don't make more merit post, rather make post that can/or will get merit.

Well you’ve got one now, so the OP has served it’s purpose. To move on from there, there are plenty of tips in the posts in this thread, but it all boils down to putting some effort and time into creating content.

There are of course topics, styles and better places to post than others, and Altcoins is not one of them. If you’re into numbers, take a look here to get some insights, and then contrast with the content being created (numbers do not speak for the content, they just point to it):   BitcoinTalk Merit Dashboard.

The first is thing to do is to have your mind far off gaining merits, make facilitating posts in the forum, read and understand the sticky/pinned posts in threads and also get yourself familiarized with the forums rules and regulations, then boom! you'll see yourself gaining merits even without knowing!

I think all of us are rooting for a merit, it is impossible for you to not take merit as your motive.

It is nice to build a reputation and trust for some other users because that will help you grow in this forum. You just need to do what you need to do in order to become a reliable user here. Answering some facts, stating some reality and truths about the surroundings. Sharing quality opinions and information will make you earn merit once you justify yourself with that.

Newbies are impatient with that, as soon as possible, just do your thing, and little by little you will achieve what you want.

Earning merit is not child's play dude, you got to work harder, think better, spread your discussion above 2 or 3 areas, with reasonable contributions, the moderator's eye are really everywhere for us to get our proper recommendation. It was even easier before 2018 to get merit and new rank, but now it is more demanding.

Earning merits is really a reward for your hardwork, reward for you effort and patience.

You don't need to beg for it, you should work for it. If you think that you deserve it, then never hesitate to do extra every time you make a posts. Make a quality discussion, quality posts, and reliable information that will help each and everyone of us in this forum become updated and knowledgeable about the cryptocurrency industry and the world.

It is not that bad to urge for a merit, but I want you to know that never rush things because it will come to you in the right time.

Yeah, it looks like op is just focusing on altcoin boards, and I agree with @Bttzed03 that, why not try exploring more section here in the forum op? Also, op already said that he's a member here since 2017 (though he registered in 2018) and I doubt that he has not realized why he doesn't have merits. Op, might as well want to try observing why others get merits and what's with their posts that you don't have.

Try giving more quality posts and for sure there's someone who might appreciate and find your post useful and give you the merit you are looking for.

I think you can really struggle with the merit if you are just a member who is focusing on the bounties because the merits are only given to the member who has a good, quality, and constructive post no one will give merit by just sending reports.

Also according to your post, you are a member since 2017 so you will have a lot of time to make a lot of research and understanding what are the possibilities you can contribute to our forum many members left you behind and got their rank up to a full member above.

Hopefully, right now you enlighten that you need to have merit too to rank up. Merits reflect your good contribution.

Getting merits isn't an easy task, for it you need to share some good quality content on the forum, some hot news or useful tools...

But you need to post in other sections of the forum, if you only post in altcoin discussion promoting your steemit account, then you will never get merits.

Share your ideas in boards like Trading Discussion, Bitcoin Discussion, Project Development, and you will get some merits for sure if the ideas are good and clear.

By the way, i think the fact that you are worried about merits deserves one merit, so, good luck and remember, while more involved you get with the community, faster you will grow...

If you know what you are saying or at least have some basic knowledge with respect to a certain topic, then you can definitely earn that merit without you expecting it. Perhaps, it would not hurt you so much if you can spend some time reading articles, bitcoin posts, and any other crypto related stuff that will establish your capacity to contribute on a meaningful discussion later on.

The thread below contains good discussion with regards to your concern created by @mu_enrico
