MSI RX 470's 4 GB ($199 NewEgg) are 110-120 watts each measured at the wall. I only have two so far, but I got this number from 60 watts system idle with no cards and 300 watts with both cards while mining. So the math is 300 total - 60 system = 240/2 cards = 120. It does fluctuate a bit (280-300), but 300 is the peak. I am thinking I can run 4 card rigs with a 750 watt PS easily, saving money versus those 1000 watt+ units.

The memory clock on this particular model is set to 1650 factory, but I have already successfully increased it to 1850 and am getting 21.5 MH/s stable. It crashes if I go for 2000 (which yields 22 MH/s before crashing), but I think I can work on the settings and voltages to get it to stabilize. I have only had it a day, so I just want to let it run for awhile to make sure there are no other issues before playing around with it too much more.

120W whit stock settings?

Correct, 120 watts per card is out of the box readings. I am working on tweaking the settings now and think this can either be reduced, or the hash-rate slightly increased.

Is there any progress with your tweaking?

Bump! I´m interested in performance of MSI´s 470 4G. Anyone?

Still nothing new about 470's hash rates ?
I will build a rig with them, but i cannot decide between 4G or 8G

It is better to buy the RX 480. It is just 20% more expensive, but can hash better apart from the Ethereum.
4GB 470s do 27-28Mhs easy with custom rom.
Imo the 470 is a better buy at this point. I have mainly 480s myself but thinking about stacking up on more 470s.

my four card biostar z170 rigs should pull only 480 watts to do  87- 90mh entire system.

thats at the wall?

whit wattman do you work at settings? Win 10? ethminer?
[/quote]

note the word should was used  in the future tense.

Ie I don't have four rx 470's built or tested

I do have  two builds with 4 rx 480's    and they get 590-610 watts and 97mh to 102mh

5 x Rx 470 8GB Nitro (on stock out of the box settings)
ethminer: 22.2MH/card - 112 MH/rig but 1040W at the wall, so its almost 200W/card
claymore: 24.6MH/card - 123 MH/rig and 1120W at the wall

The 4G version does 19.8Mh on ethminer.

110w for 22mh is okish, considering that a nano can do 80w 23MH and a 1070 can do 30MH with 90w or less, yes they cost double of a single 470, but the efficiency is welcome for me

yeah  it is a tough call  but for me I think I will spot push to find 199 priced rx 470's

my four card biostar z170 rigs should pull only 480 watts to do  87- 90mh entire system.

that is pretty good.

I still need to see what a rx 460 will do. I have one on friday  149.99 from amazon is cheap  if it can do 18mh at 80 watts

I use the PowerColor Red Devil Radeon™ RX 470 4GB GDDR5

I am getting 22MH

Nice to hear that as mine is coming tomorrow same card!
Stock setting for 22?
What's your power usage?

It's factory default settings. No OC.
I'm not testing power usage yet.

I use the WattMan to tweak the power limit.
Power usage is about 100w.

you need to add the wattage from the pcie i remember that gpu-z does not show it

the settings can get gpu-z to 75 watts he is at 95 watts .

My settings are :

stock for gpu  freq and volts

stock for ram 1750  freq
ram volts 960

 fans are at 1200-2500
card temp at 79-68
-40 for power

I get 75 watts on gpu-z
I get 150 watts for whole system
My system is 40 watts with no gpu at all
so I am about 110 watts for the entire card.

This was measure with my hot -kwatt meter   which reads 10% higher then my other k-watt meter.

I have 2 different sapphire models of the rx 470
they get 22mh and use about the same power.
the reference is a decent deal for 199

VCOGOLD16 is the code

so 199-15 = 184
