The popular belief is that if ASIC is real, GPU mining will die, or become less profitable, or not profitable at all.
My earnings went UP and continue to go up.  And I have you, the ONLY guy to show an ASIC hash rate screen photo, telling me that it wont effect GPU mining.

No, your BTC earnings have gone down because of ASICs.

Your USD earnings have gone up, but this is because of the Bitcoin exchange rate which has increased dramatically by 3.3x from January to today ($15 to $50), completely compensating for, and cancelling, the higher difficulty caused by ASICs.

Keep in mind that very few ASICs have been deployed so far (less than 300 units of Avalon batch 1, plus the ASICMINER farm). A lot more has yet to come, at which point you will definitely notice your USD earnings as going down (within 2-4 months to be somewhat conservative).

My GPUs earn about .5 BTC a day, which has gone up for no apparent reason.
Did you remember to substract electricity cost and depreciation of your hardware? How's your variance?
They are not working hard, not overclocked, and please explain how my GPU is to prove ASICs are real?
They're working hard even if you haven't overclocked them, and what they're doing is using math to validate a blockchain that shows ASICs owners mining at huge hash rates compared to GPU miners. If you don't believe the blockchain, you don't believe the work your GPUs are doing is valid.

A youtube video is better because it wouldnt be some picture of a random computer case, or as above, an empty rack with some fans on it.
As pointed out above, the Avalon doesn't even have a screen card. One could cobble together some heat sinks, make a PCB with dummy components, and make some simulated openWRT and cgminer output to coinvince you - you say - but that's still easier to do than fooling the blockchain.
Millions of views not required.  Lets be reasonable.
Yes please be.
A day old account, with 1 video, from a cell phone.. really?
Yes really.
The ONLY avalon video has every single indication of being fake.  1 video on the account, created the same day as the account.  Low quality.  Offshore... in China.
In New York actually. The people who have followed events might recognize the Bitcoin Foundation offices, and the fact that the YouTube video was posted also on the Bitcoin Foundation website. Despite what you might think, the authenticity of a YouTube or Twitter account does not depend on postcount or age. I've seen parody and troll accounts on YouTube and Twitter with more posts than the official.
If you were selling 100,000s of $$ in equipment I would expect more effort to be made in proving they are real, so that you can sell them.
They've posted some photos themselves, but Avalon rely on third parties and the blockchain to verify their product rather than producing fancy videos in-house, since to reasonable people - even reasonable felons - the former would be more convincing than the latter.

Why bother posting the link?

Judging from their posting history, some people on this thread probably even deny the existence of the Custom Hardware sub-forum.

Rest assured that anyone selling machines that make money will ship them out the door on the exact day that they can make more money getting rid of the machine than they can running the machine.

That is the exact day they can sell it for more than it's worth.

Understand now?

Youre right, its obvious: it is not reasonable for asic companies to sell miners.

Right, unless they failed math.   It's an electrically powered box full of money.  They'll be glad to sell them on the exact day that they can sell them for more money than is left in the box minus the cost of the electricity required to get that money out.

What do you think they're operating a charity for poor hungry miners?  Giving away money boxes for less than the money's worth?

Yeah! that's it!  They're altruists, only in it for principle, values, and the good of mankind!

Or do you think maybe they're in it to make money?'

LOL.

I own 2 homes fully paid off, have zero debt, dated a porn star, a covergirl model, an actress, and am a semi famous felon.  But you didn't ask that, nor did I ask you.  I am keeping this to the point.. ASIC.. not personal resume bullshit.  It is apparent that you are a fraud dancing around the facts.

Is it a fact that you are listing yourself as a     Female, Age: 30, Location:    Seattle, WA (including a matching picture) in your bitcointalk profile? So where lies the truth here? GIRL = Guy In Real Life? Credibility == 0?

Quote
So you have shown cgminer.
Congratulations, you are the FIRST person to EVER show anything even remotely respectable as some shred of evidence that their is an Avalon, with a hash rate of something.  Why the hell did you put so much effort into evading, insulting, and avoid this like a fraud?  Was that so hard?

Actually that was not one of my pictures, I just linked to one of the many other pictures people have been posting of their Avalons. You did search through the forum, right? Currently in the Custom Hardware section there are a handful of
threads about the Avalons being delivered and how to config them

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=76.0

Quote
Another offshore "customer" that has "verified" they have an ASIC... but you are offshore, in China no doubt.. so I cannot trust you.  You are most likely part of the Avalon campaign to talk US buyers into sending untraceable cash.

I have stated in many of my previous postings (you know, click on my name for the profile and then "Show the last posts of this person.") that I'm based in Brussels. Not exactly offshore but in a sort of tax haven according to the OECD

Sure you can't trust me but just look at the facts... I've stated before that I have a few Avalon units running, and they perform just fine.

total power consumption is about 1820 Watts for 200 GH/s. How much do you need to undervolt a GPU to get those figures (GH/Watt)?

Quote
Currently my GPUs have seen ZERO decrease in earning so I find it hard to believe all of this talk about increasing difficulty.  Yes the BTC difficulty goes up.. but who cares when the profit stays the same?
I am on about 4~ 4.5 Gh per day, earning .5 BTC per day from old equipment.

You are getting the same payout in the last 2 months, every day, where difficulty has risen from 3 million to about 5 million? Great rig, don't sell it!

Quote
Quote
Let's talk again on the 15th of May
It is the 15th.  So what's up?

it's the 15h, of MARCH. Give it another few weeks until all those shipped ASIC boxes trickle through customs and get hooked up.
In May BFL will start to deliver their ASIC equipment

Difficulty will only go up. And up. And up. Feel free to post in May how much daily payout you are getting, I'm looking forward to that.

Quote
So you are trying to predict the future.

I usually don't make many predictions of the future, but the smart money is on 'diff going up'

Quote
The popular belief is that if ASIC is real, GPU mining will die, or become less profitable, or not profitable at all.
My earnings went UP and continue to go up.

There are many postings of people pointing out of new miners showing up mining at insane rates. Asicminer is currently mining at BTCguild under user ID 67117 getting 4,923.36 GH/s,

How do you explain these stats?

http://eligius.st/~wizkid057/newstats/userstats.php/15RSB5xKn5MLiARuroqbypq5B4qdYLQorv

http://eligius.st/~wizkid057/newstats/userstats.php/1HQFE7GXdBUwi7A5wifUAVcuBuUyY7P1pB

See the numbers these miners are mining? Care to guess how many GPUs one would need to hook up in his living room to get this? Oh wait, it could be a botnet, right? Ever heard of Occam's Razor?

Quote
Court records show that the BFL guy plead guilty to mail fraud which amounted over 5 million USD.
His past hardware was a retag job, nothing he designed or made, or outsourced.
BFL is also 8-12 months past shipping date.  So no thanks.
In the USA you get zero consumer right protection if you wait more than 30 or 60 days (depending on the card).
So BFL is having people wait for months, so that they can not do a chargeback

Must be that "sacrasim" you talked about

I don't have the habit of replying  to 14 year old trolls, but hey, it's late, the bottle is half full and I feel lucky ;-)
I am not 14, nor have I intentionally insulted you.  Nice to know that my few GPUs will be earning for another year when you apparently are so fake you have to result to childish insults.

Shows that zero US buyers received what they paid for.  Further supporting my unfortunate theory that this is a Chinese Scam.

Telling me that you cannot provide video because an Avalon lacks a video port makes me more frustrated.

You are frustrated and are getting more frustrated. That is at least one thing we both agree on! We are making progress here...
So you are not going to admit that you intentionally made up a lame excuse to avoid providing video?

Quote
Quote
Is English a second language for you? No offense.  I only ask, with respect, because it appears that you lack the ability to realize when I am being sarcastic about inventing numbers, or the ability to understand that anyone can lie about numbers, or the common since to realize I am not asking you to display video from the output of an Avalon machine.

English is not my second language, it's my forth language. After French, Dutch and German which are the mandatory languages in our fine educational system of this twisted country where I currently reside. I can do some Swedish (and thus Norwegian and Danish) and Spanish too, but only after a few drinks. Oh and Italian too! I sometimes put my GPS navigation in Portuguese but that is mostly for a laugh.
This is the 3rd example of you intentionally evading a direct request for evidence, no matter how many times I ask.
You respond like you are confused telling me "but there is no video output on my beer" type crap.  I smell a scam.
I speak 5 languages and code in 12 programming languages.  I own 2 homes fully paid off, have zero debt, dated a porn star, a covergirl model, an actress, and am a semi famous felon.  But you didn't ask that, nor did I ask you.  I am keeping this to the point.. I am asking you to take a video camera in your hands, turn it on, press record, and point it at an Avalon, and show something that says "Avalon" on the machine, or say "this is an Avalon", and then show your computer screen or whatever device is running your mining software, and point the camera at the screen while the screen displays the hash rate.
Then stop the recording, upload to youtube, and PM or public link it.

The Avalon is a stand alone solution, the mining software runs on the Avalon. There is little (modified version of) the TP-LINK TP-WR703N inside Avalon that runs cgminer. See the problem?

Oh how convenient that you cannot provide a picture of the hash rate!  Oh wait... but then you did?  So where is the problem if you can run cgminer?

Be sure to use a YouTube account without a scammer tag, with millions of views and subscribers, HD video quality, and red text, all to make sure that it can't possibly be a lie.

Seriously though, why would he believe a YouTube video when he won't even believe the blockchain that his pile of GPUs are working hard to verify 24/7. It's easier to fake a YouTube video than to fake out the blockchain which has several petaflops of distributed computing power behind it. Maybe he should have got into a currency backed by funny cat videos instead.

Here's a question for you.

Take a look at user 67117 at BTCGuild. (see: https://www.btcguild.com//index.php?page=rankings)

What, in your opinion, could possibly give a single user 4.8TH/s?

OK, sorry for being acerbic earlier.

You will most likely not find Youtube videos of the machines mining.  The people who bought them probably want to remain anonymous or don't use Youtube.

It's hard to get 66GH (most people can't do this at home).  So if 10 people are showing up on BTCGuild with 66GH, you can surmise they have an Avalon unit most likely

The fact that JGarzik wrote up his review should be credible evidence enough.  Not even a ASICMiner or BFL fanboy will refute the existence of his unit working at stated speed.  Same the the Foundation's unit.

While it is conceivable that people could be faking it, to what end?  To fuel sales to the ponzi scheme companies?  Avalon and BFL both have previous generation units they have sold.  And it is damn near impossible that the 5TH you see mining under 1 account on BTCG was anything other than ASICMiner.

The question you should be asking is
1) How much am I willing to layout out for an ASIC unit knowing I may not get my return on investment (if the code for BTC changes ASICs can't adapt)
2) Which company do I trust?  Avalon from China, BFL with nonstop delays but future ability to produce massive amount, or buy shares of ASICMiner and let somebody else worry about the mining
3) Is it better to buy BTC now and wait for the price to go up rather than waste time/energy worrying about ASICs

Difficulty is going up.  If you're not seeing less earnings either you're mining on luck based shares and are getting increasingly lucky or you're not doing you math right.  Any rewards calculator can show you this.  Just look at the users in the big pools who have 60-400GHs - you think they all set up large GPU pools due to the price increase?

You can mine LTC, but it takes a while to learn (not easy like LTC) and seems to use more energy than BTC mining (at least with my setups).

My fake machine mined 18000000 BTC in one minute.  Is that good enough for you too?

That would be awesome but you can only mine BTC 3600 per day in the Bitcoin network so I wonder what kind of testnet you are using ;-)

How about some pictures?  Better yet some video?

How about looking at the consistent stats for 3 machines at a pool?

If you have one, can you please show some video?
You can leave it turned on, plugged in, and mining.
Just show it and the screen mining, with speed, and that the screen isn't KVM'ed to another room full of GPUs etc.
Should be easy.
I'll make a video of whatever funny "you were right, I was wrong" quote in return.

How is that even going to work, the avalon does not have any video ports, only wifi and ethernet.

I can hook up a laptop and show you whatever screenshot from my FPGAs next door. You need a web browser or ssh to log into the machine and show you cgminer running. How can you tell?

Anyways, if you want pictures, here is one

**PICTURE HERE**

Bonus points if you can guess what the text on the boxes said (it's not that difficult, 2 degrees of connectivity with Avalon even)

It seems people on forums who disagree with anyone like to insult or talk like they are superior.

This is an old picture.

I could make a custom case that would not be recognized by google image search,
Put multiple fans, fan grills, ports, and chrome thumb screws on it,
then quote some reasonable, only 2 generations old chip technology numbers,
get some engineers from freelancer.com to write up some tech talk babble...
then take preorders, and circulate multiple pictures of my hardware.

So you picture is great,  THANK YOU for the picture.
I mean that.  Thank you.

But are you in the USA?
Can you show me the screen with hash rate?
Please don't be unreasonable and tell me that an Avalon has no camera built in.
I didn't ask to see video output from an Avalon, but video OF the Avalon.

Oh and I do have video of my BFL mini rig prototype that makes 1000 BTC per day.. (JOKING!)

If ASIC is real, I will move the GPUs I have to litecoin.

If ASIC is real, shouldn't that have dropped to .4 or .3 or even less?
ASIC is suppose to be all super fast!  I would love to buy 10 of them if I could trust any of these "trust us with your untraceable, non-refundable money" companies.

PS: no I cannot guess what the text says.
