The question is:

could there be more mods, if they volunteer and abdicate the "mod wages"?

I would assume it's more a problem of finding people they trust, rather than fiscal issues.

On forum sites, taking on a mods is usually a...dubious process.

I understood mods are paid. So its obvious, why no new mods are added.

Leads me to the question: Are there any unpaid (subforum) moderators?

If no: Is there a chance the creation of a new position/job as "unpaid moderator" aka
"voluntarily non contract moderator" is possible?

I'm pretty sure they're paid pennies

Yeah, they stated it's not much. They all share a small cut from the advertising.

Is there a list of all staff members / mods etc?
