What you should care as an investor is that the long term growth is sustainable, and if a solid proposition for growth exists, you should be happy that the company has the chance of reinvesting profits to fuel its growth.
That means, no dividends for shareholders.

In that case, I can make you the happiest investor alive:  You're unlikely to ever see any dividends.
No need to thank me.

If you don't know the difference between stock price and value, you better stay away from investments.

Value:  What bagholders would like you to believe the stock is worth.
Price:  What the last share actually sold for, usually a fraction of "value."

@Bonam:
Now that you know, stay away from investing in Bitcoin securities regardless (unless you're into humiliation/losing coin).
Not a single offering on Havelock, for instance, is trading above its initial listing price.
Not. A. One.

That is an absurd argument. What matters for the company is building value, not satisfying some speculators in the secondary market.

In the bitcoin universe, where the overwhelming majority of possible investments are scams or failures, it's important to continually demonstrate that one does not fit into that category.

As for value... sure, I believe in value investing and use this strategy with my USD denominated investments. Tell me, what is the P/E for Asicminer? What is the Return on Capital? What is the fair value per share based on your estimates? Truth is, there is no recent hard info out there, and the last (outdated) financial report that is out there does not paint a particularly positive picture.

In a marketplace where trust is limited and accountability is non-existent, generating a continual revenue stream for investors is important to demonstrate legitimacy, even if that sacrifices a portion of the profits that could otherwise have been re-invested in growth opportunities.

It is a startup, no matter what universe you are living in.
All of us are actually angel investors, regardless of the fancy IPOing term they might have used for their crowdfunding.
If you don't want to deal with risks, go put your money in hedge funds and play in etrade.

If you want to support a growing company, do fucking support it.

I don't get all this talk like it is possible we hav. We know there are o't sold or deployed anything.  Remember that giant farm everyone was talking about last week?  The one that had 5% of the network and was only ~2/3 completed.  The one that you could clearly tell from the pictures was filled with Hashratio devices built with BE200s.  That facility alone will be eating a minimum of 15 PH of AM chips when finished.  That is one facility, one customer.   The article wasn't even clear that the 5% figure was for the entire site, and not just one building, that makes it possible (if not likely) that site may wind up being 40 PH+ installed.

we know there are other partners.  We know there are direct sales.  We know there is self mining.  This generation of chips is obvioualy a disappointment, but it isn't like the company is about to go under.  Everybody need to take a couple deep breaths and chill.   Or don't, I'll buy some more shares at .12.
I wish I had more available btc to put walls up and accumulate shares

If only I had some divs.... Tongue jk

Anyways, if there is no relevant income stream for gen 3, we still have gen 4: Remember, it make more sense to just hold your shares and wait for better times.

Sometimes, yes. Other times, a company's value slowly dwindles to nothing over time. Gen 4 is a long way away and there is no guarantee of its success or profitability. I think AM should return to paying out dividends on a consistent, predictable, schedule, even if (hopefully only at first) these dividends would have to be very small. Even paying out a tiny dividend would demonstrate that AM is still working for its shareholders.

I gotta add, I was saying "It may make more sense to hold on to your shares" that didn't come through correctly I guess. Of course we don't know when gen 4 will hit the market (if ever) and how it performs against the competition. But it may work out great! AM is in no ways dead even if gen 3 and self-mining fizzles.

So August passed with no dividend. Are people expecting a September dividend now? Personally, I am growing increasingly pessimistic about AM being able to generate any meaningful profit to pay out in dividends.

Well effectively no one knows. Friedcat just said that he 'hoped' we would see dividends in August, nothing more. No solid promise or anything. There seems to be quite some movement in the sales-addresses and also some minor movements in the dividends addresses. I believe he is re-investing mining profits in order to scale up. He doesn't want to break any promises so he waits until things worked out. Anyways, if there is no relevant income stream for gen 3, we still have gen 4: Remember, it make more sense to just hold your shares and wait for better times.

I put this in the speculation thread for a reason....still you can see the sales address and other addresses are very active
I looked into some of those addresses again from the sales thread

on 8/15 coins from sales thread start moving to
https://blockchain.info/address/12ucMegjPDx7n8UHryWRRmRJYDCpZGtjUb
then from there it only goes to two other wallets

https://blockchain.info/address/1K7AuMJwVfZg3UVjinnjT2HzG4pJvACat6
not to much action on this one, small round numbers as soon as receives BTC it sends out

you can tell this is a incoming sales address
https://blockchain.info/address/17EA1UT5amSvasuhzUDPs1pLgxdrbRYLAX

from sales the coins are sent to these addresses multiple times, I think these are the ones to look out for
https://blockchain.info/address/12WVzVu5kNovXKS3vMfmm4knaK5T5bYfZn
https://blockchain.info/address/3MkwFfGNQDve7vz1z6gUDVxkuQpcSV3Mz8

Chips, un-boarded, do not make mining hardware.  Staff of 1-3 receives chips, boards chips.  Boards wired, working miners.  If you'd quit playing DotA and actually go to your engineering classes, you'd know that.

My earlier explanations have been more than patient for the aggressively naîve troll, but hopefully they can be referenced if anyone needs an explanation on why DC hosting fees would be smaller than would be expected for a full-scale IT operation for a typical company working with fiat-priced products.

So...you consider yourself a little Phinnaeus Gage and you started digging for information about me over the internet. So now we got that covered too. Getting angrier with every post huh?

I know that chips unboarded do not make mining hardware, but instead of ordering the massive amount of chips (more than the total hashrate at that moment actually which I find pretty strange) of 60PH just to look at them AM could have ordered 50PH or 40PH or 30PH and with the money difference they could self mine. I consider this a bad decision. Prove me wrong!

Regarding the DC. Why are you comparing it to a full-scale IT operation? I feel that you invented this to lie to yourself about the lower fees/costs because I have never compared it to anything! I only said that there are some DC costs that you just can't ignore when you are trying to deploy 30+MW. I never said about a regular DC or a full-scale IT operation. Actually the fact that for bitcoin mining you only need a ghetto/minimalist DC is well known and was already discussed on the Hardware forums. You just need good cooling and space in order to do it the cheapest way possible, BUT the electrical costs are still considerable and you can't ignore them!

*I wish I was so good at DotA as I am at bitcoin mining!

Assume this is an address that belongs to a bitcoin exchange where all this sales money was sold at for dollars. Then they are indeed in relation with the addresses, but with no divs dispersed from there. It means absolutely nothing to have a "relation".
You can find the transaction  of some addresses begun in June or August.
Meanwhile AM sell miner at for bitcoins

Yes, the chip numbers are up in the air, but remember that they include sales to Rockminer, BTCgarden, HR - many of whom assemble and resell miners across the customer segments I mentioned this morning in addition to mining on their own or as franchisees.  Ergo, the entire 60 PH isn't necessarily coming from ASICMINER alone, but rather its now been split both vertically and horizontally across the transfer (chip) and miner markets along the resale and company mining channels.
...
- chips/hardware scale widely to individual servers via controllers, minimizing the bulk of the assumed costs in a reference model
...

You lost me with these 2 statements, but if the costs are so small why didn't AM start the self mining 2-3 months earlier? They had chips just sitting on shelves instead of putting them to work. I see there a big loss in revenue.

When will FC share the speed of AM self mining? When will dividends come? I have a feeling we will not see any of them in September either.

Also what's the status of gen4 development? Nobody knows, but AM is king!
