Why would he even do that for large scale 2nd gen rollout? Surely he's not going to shut down gen 1 yet.

Looks like ASICMINER turned on their datacenter, watching the blockchain with interest...
They're hashing at 28.09 over the past 48 hours.. Nothing spectacular yet. Unless you count the two blocks in the last hour, which is likely luck.
That wasn't my interpretation of why they found two blocks in the last hour. We'll see.

This is modular design. You don't need to shut whole mine to upgrade. I suspect that is rather a major hardware failure. Hope they will be back fast. Hopefully a major hardware upgrade!
