i just wanted one for novelty purposes, wasnt looking to marry anyone.  id forfeit my return too, but i cant say the others that bought 10+ would want to do the same.  they could sell some to minimize their risk.  but i still have the opinion to get someone, not in this group, to pull names out of hat.

From friedcat's first announcement post: "After shipping we do not refund, but still guarantee a six-month warranty of free replacement like our blades. However the replacement should also come in batch (10 at one time)."

So, I see it so, that arklan must keep these 19 extra miners for half a year and replace any defective units his customers might have in that time. But can he mine with them on the meanwhile and what should be done to income, that's a tricky question...

[...] the total order, including my five, was for 511. and they mailed 530. the extra 19 are intended for warranty replacement if any of you guys get deffective ones.

I'm curious what you do if there are extras. My guess is it will be more of a hassle than you hoped for!

530 delivered - 511 ordered = 19 miners

19 miners * BTC1.99 = BTC37.81

BTC37.81 / 511 ordered = BTC.074 / miner

I can imagine you don't want to hold the risk if a miner won't work, but if you can't afford buying everyone out, you have unwittingly become a warranty salesman! i.e. individuals are given the option to return on warranty from you.

For example, if I believe strongly these things will last I would ask for BTC.074 for each miner ordered and forfeit my right to a return. If more than 19 go bad, you're not going to be able to do anything in either case!

If you do end up with leftovers that do mine but you don't have the capital to buy us out you could consider offering shares. Each ordered miner earns the buyer a share.

320 MH/s * 19 = 6080 MH/s

6080 MH/s earns BTC1.91 / week.

BTC1.91 / 511 = BTC.0037 / share per week

One could then sell their share of Arklan Mining on BTCT. If one person ended up with 27 shares they could force sale of a single miner.

maybe i should start a group buy?

Yeah, you definitely should. Because  you seem to be knowing how it should have been done. On hindsight.

you tell me how long it should take to get 100 packages ready.  i only ordered one, not that big of a loss. im wondering how these other people who ordered 10-20 feel about this.  in reality, those should have been sent out first, so what, 16-20 packages to get ready.

"with the escrow fee and the shipping fee, plus my handling fee (6 btc paid as 3 miners) this comes to BTC 2.1013 btcper unit.  this is a revised price from 2.0808."

i guess i was wrong with the 12 btc, says here only 6 btc paid as 3 miners.

i just want to know why packaging wasnt ready.  once you opened the 200, it should have went straight into packages and to the mail.

So, NOTHING was mailed yesterday?  No one will get their miners now until Tuesday at the earliest?  That's disappointing.

I will simply say that having the long weekend to pack them all up, I would expect some serious up rising if they do not all get shipped bright and early on Tuesday.

Stay positive people.

Failing to ship today is what I would consider a fumble, but recoverable.  It would have been better to have let people know.  I bet I was not alone in imagining ~arklan down at the post office taking care of business when in reality it looks a lot like he was puttering around trying to get 8 miners going on a USB hub.

A plausible reason for staying home (in addition to car problems) would be to avoid having $100,000 (e-bay prices) worth of gear left on his porch.  If that is the case, he might have said so....and earlier in the day.  I would probably be finding out if the shipper would to will-call rather than home delivery if I were in ~arklan's position.

Now, we are well ahead of the schedule I imagined, but that has more than a little to do with The Cat's performance, and not a very good rational for introducing other delays.

I call it like I see it.

emails should have gone out to every order and you should have asked and told thats there was going to be extra money and extra erupters.  I assumed you were buying some, why else would you start a group buy.  im sorry i didnt pay more attention to this thread, but i dont understand why extras were sent for warranty.  so to get warranty i go through you?  you say there's 19 extra? i dont understand this statement. "i can happily package the extra three and mail them out. they'd go to hephaist0s. in fact, you make a valid point. the 19 should come from the last batch, after all others are mailed. so, pack them i shall."  it sounds like things really worked out for you, maybe i should start a group buy?

5?  then why are you mining with 8?

Stop bullying!

If you are accusing him of intentionally delaying packages so he can mine with them. Please directly make an accusation.

Why things are behind schedule has been explained (at least to my satisfaction) in the thread.

I don't think anyone is intentionally "bullying". You need to remember this is as much a business transaction as anything else. Taking away emotion, there is a supplier with a product, customers, and an exchange of money. Any "customer" has the right to ask as many questions as they want after the "supplier" has received "money" and the "product" has not been yet been delivered. As to if the questions are "friendly" or "bullying' is all relative.

are you not going to answer me?

His name was on the top of the original order spread sheet as having 3 for payment of putting together this group purchase. I count 3 in the picture he posted and he is entitled.

As for the "lead turning" of the shipping labels; well, that would have been good "head-work" but there was no mention of how shipping was going to be handled prior to everyone buying-in so it is as much our fault as it is his for not thinking of it earlier.

yea, lesson learned... i'll do better next time!

and fyi, 2 extra came from the order of 80, bringing mine ot five. he sees 8 in the screen shot of bfgminer.
