Amazon Payments is a direct competitor of Bitcoin. They'll never do it as long as we're the competition. That's like asking Microsoft to sell Apple products.

That's also like expecting Paypal to accept Bitcoin

Paypal is a little different in that they are trying to branch out to other payment systems. You can even use Paypal to pay in brick n mortar stores now.

I don't see Amazon integrating it because most Bitcoin users prefer purchasing Gift Cards from their BTC, then spending those gift cards on Amazon instead.

One such service is "Giftcard BTC"

Paypal is the first, amazon will follow it and other big companies will come as well.

If PayPal really is successful in integrating Bitcoin, Amazon may be tempted a lot more to integrate it natively! An interesting turn of events today... I wonder if we see Amazon integrating it. It would be one of the best things to happen to Bitcoin!

Most vendors fear Bitcoin integration because they simply don't understand it. Most of their "arguments" were already discussed in the FAQ of Bitcoin.org

It's a great news. If Amazon will start accepting BTC what would be great. I will ask Amazon for BTC payments. I think they will start accepting very soon.

Me too hope that Amazon accepts BTC. Can we make a request on their page on Twitter and Facebook? Mass-request may help. If anybody is making please let us know and also include best payment processors or give links to guide on making a payment processor themselves. Smiley

Check out this Twitter...  "@amazon just sent me an email saying they will accept Bitcoin "

I tend to think the Amazon agent has no idea what Bitcoin is.....at least that's how it comes off to me.

Considering that was over 3 months ago, it was certainly faked or agent has no clue.  Sadly...

Would Coinbase or Bitpay be able to scale to this level anytime soon?... seems like a massive undertaking for them.

A few pages back I posted on the virtues of using Purse.io to buy things on Amazon using BTC. I now want to share a warning about using Purse for Amazon gift cards and maybe other purchases as well - see this thread:

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.8647519

...feeling like I just took a lot more shrapnel in the cryptocurrency war w. scammers. And none of this would be happening if Amazon would just accept BTC directly.

Nice to know, thanks.
