Atari, the legendary entertainment company behind Pacman,
huh ? pacman ? i thought they became famous because of the legendary game space invaders   Huh  and the pacman was popularly known because of namco .
I don't know the entire story of who actually developed pacman but checking pacman developers on google it shows atari as a developer too, alongside Namco, Namco Networks, interactive brains and gremlin industries

Players who earn $DG will be able to use the tokens to get involved in the running and management of the casino.
is there any further explanation on this part?

No dream is too big and no dreamer is too small
Atari, the legendary entertainment company behind Pacman,

At first glance I thought it's referring to Manny Pacquiao but I realize it's the game itself which is the Pacman that I have played when I was a kind when family computer ( if that's what its called) was still very popular, yeah, the word "ATARI" I still remember.

Well, I think this is a good news that they are entering in the crypto space, should help them improve as this market is getting bigger and players will benefit on that success.

Way to establish their name in a manner where they don't need to compete against the giants in the gaming industry. As of the moment, the only anchor they have with society is the fact that they made Pacman, and some other videogames in the past, but hopefully with this new project they have, they get to build their name and pioneer the crypto gaming industry.

I think that point needs to be expanded upon - How?

Would users be invited onto an advisory board?  As I theorised three posts earlier, a user (or even a group - declared, or not apparent) could exert influence if they acquired enough $DG.

How would you know if one user was representing others who'd funneled their funds to that one (Shill??) user?

I enjoyed my childhood playing their games, and if they still live up to the tastes of the generation they used to cater in the 90s, then perhaps their gambling venture would surely be a hit. I'm pretty sure that a lot of gamblers would like to try this casino not to fill their gambling needs but to rather see whether it would relive some nostalgia that they are feeling considering that it's Atari that owns these games.

On another side, I see that companies are already seeing that the crypto gambling community can be one of the most profitable aspects of cryptocurrencies and not just trading.

So the bigger the gambler, the bigger the controlling interest in the Casino?  A gambler with deep pockets could (in theory at least) wrest control of the Casino from its creators and then steer the Casino towards a rival's brand name (or, just park the casino and point it to their own brand).

I somehow can't see that happening.

They would have safeguards and clauses on the ToS to ensure that that's not gonna happen, for sure.

That is a pretty bold statement that players can get involved in the management, but I think that there is something deeper in play with that statement because if they were to do so then as @Timelord2067 says, a big player can destroy the casino with enough money.

We all have played their games, all of my age who were kids during late 80s and early 90s and I only have beautiful memories from their games. This is a great move from them but I don't like the fact that they are using tokens, better to start in full with all the major cryptos accepted and this would be a hit.
I see it quite the same way. I loved the Atari games back then and still play them now and then in emulators, sometimes with friends over a few beers, still incredibly fun.

However, I am very critical of the introduction of a token. I would rather see well-known coins like BTC, ETH and ADA supported here. They can sill implement the whole NFT thing, there are also certainly enough people who will then collect purely for nostalgic reasons, but I wouldn't use a custom token as a payment-requirement at all.

Atari, the legendary entertainment company behind Pacman, has announced plans to launch a cryptocurrency casino with new partner Decentral Games.

The Atari Casino will be built in a virtual gaming district in the Ethereum-based Decentraland metaverse. The gaming district, known as ‘Vegas City’ will be host to Atari Casino on an initial two-year deal starting in May of 2021.

The virtual Atari Casino will feature Atari-themed games and Atari non-fungible Tokens (NFTs). Players will be able to play games using MANA, DAI, and ATRI (Atari) tokens. Prizes will be offered in Decentral Games’ native token $DG.

Players who earn $DG will be able to use the tokens to get involved in the running and management of the casino.

cool . does it mean that we can get the experience of running this casino ? thats new to me and they are too kind to allow this service , for sure different types of people ( gamer , non gamer , non gambler , gambler  ) that are going to try this  . itl also be better if they will add esports along with that casino because it was related to video games

I believe that Atari's move into the cryptocurrency gambling industry will give a huge boost to the development of both the company and the entire gaming entertainment industry. The year 2021 showed that people are willing to pay huge money for exclusive things in the form of NFT tokens. Atari caught this trend at the right time and I am sure that their success is waiting for them.

It is good news for the gambling industry because Atari is an old games company that still exists for a long time ago. So it can attract more big companies to cooperate with the other projects and launch their cryptocurrency casino, and if that can happen from this year, we will see a new face of crypto gambling games. Perhaps, that can bring a new experience for players out there who doesn't know much about crypto, so they can search for how to use the crypto and how to play on the gambling site. Cryptocurrency worlds need more good news like that to grow more than what we see.

It seems Atari has procured this gambling license for a record 7.5 million dollars in the last financial period.

https://www.globenewswire.com/news-release/2020/08/13/2077631/0/en/Annual-Financial-Results-2019-2020-Atari-delivers-another-financial-year-of-profitable-growth.html

So I assume that they won't be planning a very simple crypto casino here considering the amount of licensing fees they have paid. It's definitely good to see known brands are jumping into the crypto gambling bandwagon. Hopefully such known entrants will increase the overall reputation of this market.
That is a lot of money for a gambling license. I hope that despite the chances that they are going to be a different casino, I hope that they won't stray too far because people might be alienated when they replaced a lot of the classics that you see in a casino. With more NFTs coming in the market, it will only get harder for us to find the right one to buy.

This is nice considering that NFTs are the current talk of the town and Atari going to join in is a big thing especially for their fans and I am pretty sure that their NFTs are going to be exploding in popularity. Their casino operation though is a little bit confusing for me but hey, what works for them am I right?
