Strange: everyone seems to get around 200 Mhsish or more with their 5770, but mine (overclocked at 900) does not go beyond 178-180 Mhs with Phoenix miner, patched phatk, using this script: -k phatk DEVICE=0 AGGRESSION=6 VECTORS WORKSIZE=128 BFI_INT FASTLOOP=false.

Any advice?
(More aggression does not increase much the performance and it hogs too much my puter, while at 6 it stays fairly responsive as I need.)

BTW: with this setup temp is at 75-76 C. Should I change termal paste/ increase ventilation, or that's fine?

256 Worksize, downlock memory to 300.

Overclock MORRREEE!!!! IF you hate long-living cards you can get 1080MHz core

Make sure your AfterBurner.cfg file looks like this

[ATIADLHAL]
EnableUnofficialOverclocking = 1
AccessibilityCheckingPeriod = 0

After restarting afterburner, go into settings and tick "unlock gpu voltage control"

Perhaps that is not sufficient, you may need this lines, too:

UnofficialOverclockingEULA   = I confirm that I am aware of unofficial overclocking limitations and fully understand that MSI will not provide me any support on it
UnofficialOverclockingMode   = 2

I changed the title.
Because I´ll buy a ATI 5850 after holiday. I´ll install is, and take the mainboard out of the case.
The only creepy thing is the power consumption.
I don´t think, that a 305W power supply is enough for this card and an intel pentium 4
Can anyone please post any advices for the power of a new power supply?
Nils
Corsair cx 430w seems to be the best choice of good quality psu with a low pricetag, the 350w might be able to run it depending on the quality, but doubt it will.

I believe you can get around ~350-380 mhash at around 70c temperature on the card which isn't really much, i think alot of people go to 80-90c without problems (yet) with the mainboard outside the case (doesn't really help airflow much to now have it in the case).

I think you should go for a 5850 and not 5770 personally, what i have seen it's only around €40-50 more than 5770 and it delivers almost twice the speed, have better resale value if you'll ever think about selling it. Shoot me a PM if you're interested to buy in the future since i probaly won't get rid of the card for some time, not really in a hurry to sell it but if a good oppertunity shows up i'll probaly get rid of it since i won't be using 2 cards in the future anyway.

You can PM me if you're unable to get those speeds (even if you end up buying from store/someone else) and i'll happily help you if i still visit the forums by then.

Thanks for your offer. But I´m at holiday next week, and so, I don´t buy anything now.
And the airflow:
I won´t have a case. I´ll take the mainboard out of the case.

If you are looking to buy a 5850 i might be able to sell you one if you want (currently pulls in 333mhs at 830/300mhs clocks at AGGRESSION=9, temp at 60c) for about €130. Also have an unused 430w corsair psu that i could throw in for about €30, should be able to run your setup without problem (my 550w runs 2*5850, i3 processor and 2*1tb hdd's without problems, but i believe it's really at the limit and that i am lucky it actually runs it all). The card has been used for 3 weeks about 8-9hours each day, it's an Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 5850 Extreme. Depending on where you live shipping might end up costing almost as much as it would cost to get everything in new condition though.

Anyways, what you should expect to get from this card:
with bad airflow in case, wanting to use the computer for other tasks such as watching videos and card at about 60c: 320-340mhs
with bad airflow in case, not wanting to do anything else with the computer and willing to go up to about 70-75c: 355-365mhs
with good airflow in case, wanting to use the computer for other tasks such as watching videos and card at about ~55c: 330-350mhs
with good airflow in case, not wanting to use the computer for other tasks such as watching videos and card at about 70-75c: 360-400mhs

The good airflow numbers are kind of speculation since i don't have good airflow in my case and can't tell for sure), looking at the mining hardware comparison chart on the wiki is also recommended, you'll be able to get about ~3-10% higher mining speeds due to improved miners + small tricks to speed up mhs though.

I would prefer 5850 ATI for a little extra budget. You'll like it in a long run in terms of efficiency.

What sorts of speed are you getting out of a 5850?

Yes, and I have only one of the slots in the computer space.
Because that, I like to take out my motherboard etc. out of the computer case.

I can simple take out the mainboard and power supply out of the case.
And then, I haven´t any restrictions for cards.
I don´t need CD-Rom and HDD, too, because I use Linuxcoin
For 60€ more, I can buy a ATI Radeon HD 5850
The only thing that worries is the power consumption.
I only have a 350W power suppy. Is that enough for an Intel Pentium 4, which isn´t used when mining and an ATI Radeon HD 5850?

Double-slot cards don't use two PCIE slots - they just need two slots of space in teh computer case! Smiley (Based on what I'm interpreting oyur issue to be... Tongue)

I would be sufficient, if it´s a very good power supply with 80+ gold or something like that and if you make sure the CPU "idles" while mining.

I´ll try. If it´s not enough, I must by a new one.

The 350W PSU will most likely not be enough. If not lacking watts, then lacking amperes for sure.

I need an new box...
The 5770 is a nice card. I'm using one with the GUIMiner and getting 209 Mhash/sec (core 950 MHz and memory 350 MHz).

And your English is fine  Cheesy Welcome to the forums  Cool

Yes and no.
My slots are build so, that the only PCIe Slot has only 1 "Output". This Thing, were VGA and HDMI from the card shows out of the case, you know?
The 2 SlotCards have the second "Output" above the first Outpout. And there is no exit.
