God is great
In Christian or Catholic countries and places, you'd see and hear their sermons that are against gambling. But look at the believers, they don't mind gambling and they treat it just a casual activity that can be done by anybody.
I think one of the reasons why some regions don't encourage gambling is because of the negative side effect of gambling, it is not as if gambling is bad for people to consider as a game for fun, it is not encouraged by some of these religions because people abuse it by going to the extent which they won't be able to have a self control to a limit that is responsible. The attitude of some gamblers in gambling  which can lead to financial problems that is why some religions and cultur don't accept gambling.

Let's consider how each individual culture, nation, religion or confession treats gambling and why. If you try to understand this issue and come to some rational grounds, you can learn interesting things. Feel free to share your views on the facts and reasons for different attitudes to gambling, and if it is easier for you to go the formal way, then I can offer you the following template:

I live in a democratic country where there is a diversity of culture and religious practices so I can say there are part of the culture and religious where gambling is taboo and there are part that have liberal views on the matter.
But gambling is thriving in our country because of the economic condition. So the citizens are taking a chance to change their lives by betting on the lottery.
All I can say is that when there is diversity in culture and religion and the government is democratic in nature, there will be diverse attitudes towards gambling.

All I can say is that we should be responsible in our gambling activities in any casino we enter to gamble. We should not lose the limits on the money we gamble,
limits on ourselves, self discipline and self-control as well.

These things I mentioned are important for gamblers, they can contribute a lot to help us so that we do not become like others who became greedy and addicted in the end
because of their gambling in this field.

Roman Catholicism or Christian are somewhat not strict with their beliefs in gambling, not like the Muslims that are really very delicate on it when that subject matter comes in. So yes, even if we see Jesus in the bible going against gambling per se, it's become a norm for this religion to be open as well with gambling.

And just like in the Philippines, predominantly Christian but they still have the biggest casinos.

  • Newport World Resorts - formerly Resorts World
  • City of Dream Manila
  • Solaire Resorts, which has 2 casinos
  • Okada Manila

I'm from the Philippines btw.

The reason why it seems our country has a lot of Christians or Roman Catholic is because it’s required to fill up on our birth certificates about our religion meaning we doesn’t have a choice whether we have religion or none.

Many are just Christian in the paper or seasonal religious but keep doing gambling, cigarettes, drinking and other religion sins because this is the culture of non religious in our country.

Only those people that has strong dedication to church has negative overview to gambling while the rest still break the church rules and just ask for forgiveness later on.

I amd from India and people have been betting here since ages.
Although it's impact is still considered negative but people still prefer to gamble.
People here consider someone who is a gambling addict as a bad person and they call them "Juari".
What is the meaning of Juari in India? After I browsed online about it, I saw a 2 hours and 35 minutes movie and also somewhere that make me conclude that the meaning is gambler. People that gamble on gamble are called gamblers. I do not see anything offensive about it. But did you mean Juari as a word to refer to gamblers in India is seen there as offensive?

I`m an atheist who live in religious country. Officially religion can`t tell us what to do, but in fact, they always do it.
I don`t ready to use such template but i think that i can answer in common.
All religions are against gambling. At least i`ve never seen another situation. And i don`t thing that it is possible to change. Their point of view is about "all money gamblers spend in the casino, they can give to us. And we decide ourselves how to spend it for our purposes." I even can`t imagine something that can change their mind.

In my country, gambling is prohibit but many people still like gambling and play it by hidden. With the advance of Internet and availability in many places plus people can access Internet from their devices, they can visit online casino and play it when they are alone. The attitude to gambling from people is negative because they see many people gets a big problem from gambling which is addicted to gambling.

The condition of this attitude can change if people can control themselves when playing gambling. It needs awareness from them to know how to treat gambling as an entertainment and realize that gambling is not give them a big chance to make money.

It is more or less clear from what I've read here that tolerance to gambling varies not only among different religions but also between the same religions in different countries.

Not in this line, but in this connection, I wonder: have different cultures and religions different attitudes also when it comes to trading? wherever dominates low tolerance, do they have the same reluctance when they talk about trading with cryptocurrencies, or they separate it?

Although this is gambling discussion and maybe it's not the place to dig into it, I think that adding a question about differences between trading and gambling in user's culture or religion might add interest in this topic.

Our attitude toward gambling isn’t really tied to our religion, you know it’s very simple, either your beliefs allow gambling or they don’t. At the end of the day, it’s all about how we, as individuals, understand the risks. Knowing that gambling can ruin lives should already make us more cautious. If we see ourselves as mature, we’d treat gambling purely as entertainment, not a get-rich-quick scheme. Chasing money, especially without the skills, is where the problems start.

In my one religion gambling is totally prohibited you know as a Christian you don't need to engage yourself in such activity, because in the process of gambling probably you can be addicted  to an extent of gambling using the church fund which is not good as a Christian.

Is obvious that the reason why most christians are engaged in this gambling activity is due to how bad the economy is and also lack of employment made so many christians to start engaging themselves in such activity nowadays you will see pastors in a gambling shop during weekends probably on Saturdays, most christian can even decide to do it secretly without anyone knowing about it. Of a truth gambling is not that bad as we thought, the only problem is just being responsible and also knowing what gambling is all about.

1. Christianity and Islam frown on gambling and the nations that are core Muslims will not allow it. But I don't know the culture that forbids gambling.

2. My opinion about gambling is positive, it is your choice but it should be strictly played only by full-grown and well-mature adults.

3. Well, be it religion or culture, the mindset about gambling is what we are being led to believe, a choice they are forcing on us. It's our choice to weigh it and choose what we want.

4. Nope, as long as religion, culture etc exist, it will linger.

Gambling in different cultures and religion are often seen or know to be negative or very negative because it's a short Curt to addiction and addiction can make a person go contrary to the religious teaching. The same thing applies to culture no culture accept bad behavior and since most gamblers are know for their attitude then gambling is often not seen as a good thing.

2. What, in your opinion, is the attitude to gambling (positive, negative, very good, very negative).
Gambling attitude can be classified according to the gamblers way or betting addiction. A gambler can be positive or very good if he plays withing his discretion or gambles with what he can afford to lose. But can be negative or very negative if he plays above his discretion probably try to chase his loses and ends up becoming negatively addicted. So it depends on individual.

I don't criticize other religions for not allowing their members to gamble. But I believe it was not the religion that could stop us. It was definitely our will. In fact, even in RC, members are not encouraged to gamble, but it is dumb because the majority of gamblers are RC. It is really on us to decide whether to gamble or not. Besides, gambling is not as bad as people think about it.

There is a reason why it was created. In fact, it was started during ancient times. Which means that those who want to gamble are welcome.

People around me see gambling as a negative activity. That view comes from a social perspective, regardless of their religion.
Social factors greatly influence that view, because there are indeed more gamblers who are addicted and destroy their own lives. The cause is directed at the gambling, not the gambler's fault.

But for me or maybe young people now think more openly. Gambling is neutral. There is no compulsion for someone to gamble. And the gamblers themselves determine their purpose in gambling. It is not gambling that is addictive, but how gamblers who cannot control their gambling activities better.

Religious people are experts at lying and manipulating people. In most religions that I have seen here in my country, for example, gambling is seen as something created by the devil to lead people away from the path of God. But gambling is created by people and has nothing to do with the devil. But since religious people want to make money with the donations that believers give, they talk all kinds of nonsense about gambling and unfortunately many believers believe it.

I don't know if any major religion accepts gambling, pretty much all of then condemn gambling as most of such religions compare the benefits and harms of one thing and based on such conclusions they all forbid gambling. They most likely have concluded that there are more harms than benefits to a person from gambling and based on that they all have made gambling illegal.

There are some places which I don't endorse nor their religion nor their culture that encourage you to gamble especially after you have lost someone in your life.

No religion encourages gambling, and they were created thousands of years ago when people really needed something to be under control and that's why the religion was invented to live as a big group of community instead of many smaller groups that needed some strict beliefs including not gambling but now we are living different so those are irrelevant now and we are at place to decide how and when we should do and if we do it should not affect anyone including ourselves.

Religion like Atheism do not talk about gambling at all but talk more about science and finding solution.

Religion atheism Shocked! Truly, the internet changes minds. Sometimes I'm afraid for the future.

This is exactly what I meant in the second paragraph.

Christianity do not against gambling but no place in the Bible that talks about gambling.

I would not want to literally emphasize on a particular region but what I have experienced so far on various kind of religions over gambling is that... Non has ever endorsed it to say... Gambling is a practical and advisable activities on their religions, they have all been discriminating their fellow religion persons who gambles like gambling is an abomination to their religion.

So far... I have not seen a dedicated religious persons gambling and every dedicated religious practitioners has always have that insights that whoever that gambles does not have morales on their religions.
Very correct, even when one records a success in gambling, the majority of the people (especially religious leaders) who celebrate them advises them not to return to gambling. I know a guy that won over #35 million, and came to church for thanksgiving and the Priest took his time to admonish him to leave gambling if he wants the money to be useful to him.

I still believe gambling beliefs is depended on the economic standing of the inhabitants of such area, for example:
In many underdeveloped and poverty-stricken areas, gambling has been seen by the youths as a major escape route from poverty and as such addiction has dealt with such people on a large scale, therefore furnishing the mindset of such people that gambling is destructive.

Among the rich, gambling is seen as a lucrative sport and a means of catching up and having some real fun among themselves, so they see it as a recreational activity, although some of them gets excessive with it and are destroyed financially.

In my country, no religion have I seen that validates gambling, neither have I seen any family or religious gathering that speaks well of gambling, you can also see on the global scale the perspective on gambling where countries like Saudi Arabia and North Korea bans totally any form of gambling while Japan and Saudi Arabia only allows limited gambling practices.
