There's a tipping point and it's very much dependent on hardware. What works on one gpu/sdk/driver combo may be meaningless on another. I fought with it for a while to find the sweet spot for my 7970s with my drivers...

How many stales are you getting with that though? Whenever I use 6144, I get about 10% stales.
i'm only getting a stale on LP, 0 else.. rbut i'm also using http://notroll.in, the share target is a bit higher

yah thats weird if i set mine to 14 it gets tons of rejects what card and settings were you using??
i use 2*6770, but only testing on 1, i use

worksize 64 doesn't seem to increase speed under any combo, so thats a no go. Must.... tinker.... MOAWR.
It should also note that I'm basing my speeds off AVG after about 20 seconds. I'm just trying to get the settings into a close ballpark before I do long term stability.

edit: worksize 64 and 8192 threads seems to be the winner, hitting a high of 322.

So far, for my setup on a 5870(850/1200) (win7,cat 12.4, app 2.6) works best with:
worksize 128 gap 2 thread 6144 i 14 -g 1 at 318kh/s

Okay I updated the git tree to allow intensities up to 20. Bad idea on 7970, perhaps it's quite ok on 5/6xxx.
