This August 1 segwit implementation is a hot issue among us bitcoin holders and earners. It sent the bitcoin price downward in my opinion because of the uncertainty after this implementation. Some are in fear that they convert to fiat for sure hold of their money. Also me, I just buy stable altcoins Smiley Still I do believe after this brouhaha, bitcoin will recover. Just think positive.

Bitcoin will NOT split and it will NOT scale.
Bitcoin will remain the same as it is today for the next 6-8 months. I.e. Status Quo

All my holdings are now in Altcoin and I am not going to sell whatever bitcoin or Altcoin I have.Instead of fueling the bearish market, we must have patience and stay positive.

August 1 is approaching

Bitcoin will split

I transferred all my Bitcoin to Monero for the upcoming rise, then back to BTC in October

at least next time you want to advertise an altcoin because you are bagholding it, do it with an account that is not called "moneroman"! use something that is not too obvious you are shilling Cheesy

Maybe the author does not try to advertise the alt coin. He's just a beggar and is looking for someone who will give him the right advice. I also made many mistakes before.
Concerning the date of August 1, it seems to me that we hear a lot of rumors and many of them are exaggerated

bla bla bla

Nonsense!
Stop shilling altcoins here!
Furthermore a split is far away from being set in stone. Probably more very unlikely imo!
Pretty lame attempt to scare people out of their precious Bitcoin!
At least you should have given a few reasonable points why you think the chain will split.

And lets assume it will happen, I'm pretty sure Chinacoin, Jihancoin, Corporatecoin or however you wanna call it, will be a big nothing burger! Hashrate alone without a majority of users is worth nothing. It goes like this: users -> demand -> price -> miners!
And not the other way around!
So I say let Jihan and Shilbert make as much noise as they want. I don't care!

whenever there is a drop in bitcoin simultaneously a drop seen in altcoins as well. Why not get things offline rather than investing in another risk

Right now converting bitcoin into fiat currency is really bad idea because we don't know what is going to be the price after the August. Because again we have to buy them at higher and transaction fee, if we convert them to any other currency which is workable then we can easily convert them to BTC. OP did a right job Monero has a great future.

it is actually not a bad idea either. going all out is stupid.
the risks of a split and a big drop are rather small but they exist. this means if you think you have a lot at stake then sell some small portion and keep the rest but if you don't have a lot of money at risk (hav <20BTC) then holding it is a better idea. since it can easily go up with a higher chance and you will be left holding nothing

I don't hold any bitcoins (any significant amount that is) but If I were to have unlaest 1BTC, I'd be selling 50% and keeping the rest. That's the best move I'd be taking, just in case.

That is a good idea and actually I am doing the same right now. Monero is a stable coin and I kept on mining it since 2015 and i havent experienced a huge price downfall with monero. But I did not converted my btc into monero but instead I traded it to LTC. I believe that Litecoins will increase on value on August 1. In my opinion Ethereum, DASH and litecoin will be the coins that most of the btc holders will migrate into and thus I can sense a huge profit coming with my investment in Litecoin. But of course I am holding some monero on my wallet and I am not yet selling it since I am waiting for a huge spike before I will sell it.

One shouldn't transfer his/her crypto assets now, we are 17 days far from August 1st. The FUD, which will be created on the days just before August 1st, will make alternative coins/tokens price crashes dramatically, that is the right time to transfer.

we don't know whether bitcoin will split or not. you are just making an assumption. in fact the chances of a bitcoin split are very poor in my opinion.

and besides, if you are afraid of losing money this much then go back to fiat. it is a well known fact that when bitcoin falls it takes all the altcoins down with it. and we have seen in the past few days, bitcoin went down 8% and altcoins dropped 20-30%

So if I am getting it correct, just cause Bitcoins may and I am not even sure it will spilt you decided to shift out of Bitcoins for a alt? Instead you could just have put your money in electrum, sit back and forget about Bitcoins spilt or no split. This way you yet have your coins and how are you sure that monore shall rise, and that bitcoin may or may be close to where you sold them. It's a very risky move, in case you haven't done, just shift to electrum and sit tight.

I like Monero, you know, but such a poor opening post (coming with someone with your name, no less  Roll Eyes ) is not exactly what I would call informative. Reporting.

Thank you for the valuable feedback. I welcome newbies in all of my threads.
