I follow aurora coin from the beginning. I still hold a big amount of coins in cold wallet. I am wondering what went so wrong with this coin and the price is going lower and lower... Huh

Basically a number of things are going on:
- Cryptos are in downtrend after the rally last year.
- Adoption of Auroracoin in Iceland is slower than initially expected.
- The reformation of the Auroracoin foundation to a Crypto foundation probably has caused some panic among people.
- From the beginning Auroracoin has been put "on the market" wrongly. See the initial article in the Steemit link that describes this.

Hey Than Ioan,

Forget about all his arguments. This coin is as dead as can be. Nothing is happening at all, you know yourself.
Just lick your wounds and be happy about the good projects you invested in.

I think its your wounds that need licking,  you never have seemed to recover from whatever hurt you so much with this coin.

There is actually a new Blockchain Foundation in Iceland with Auroracoin being one of the primary working groups, and for the first time in Icelandic history there is legislation in the works to help define the blockchain regulations here.

Also we have plenty of renewed interest these past 6 months with new merchants accepting auroracoins.

And we have not even started any kind of merchant mass sign-up as we have been focusing on building the new foundation.

Now, of course you will want to argue about this, but i dont think "as dead as dead can be" means what you think it means.

so please play nicely and try to avoid the unnecessary and ignorant trolling.

Hello, do AURORACOIN has ios wallet?

YES !  There is an iOS wallet for Auroracoin.    Coinomi supports Auroracoin on Android and iOS.

https://hive.auroracoin.is/ is 502 Bad Gateway. I thought keeping my coins in an online wallet would be okay, so I wouldn't have to have multiple alt coin wallets on my computer, but this online wallet seems to be down a lot.

Hmmm....  I have noticed the same.  I think that there are so few users out there that maintaining the site has become a lower priority.

Now I am only making a guess on why this is and have placed some queries out to the developers.

Do you still have the passphrase used to create the wallet ?   perhaps we can migrate you to another wallet.

I personally worked on the Chrome Extension wallet and can promise you support on the wallet.  OF COURSE, you should write down your private key as a backup.

Feel free to reach out to me.

thanks,
michael hannes

Yes, I still have my pin and passphrase. It was only 9.9 coins, so not much to lose. If I could get the coins out, I would probably just exchange them.

I believe in auroracoin especially since the people of Iceland only have auroracoin as their virtual currency alternative. It has a history already and I believe the next pump it has will be long lasting.

That is a true statement.  Furthermore now we have the Icelandic Blockchain Foundation working with and for us (the crypto community) in all areas of commercialization, education, and legal and political advocacy.

Please head over to auroracoin101.is and sign up for the newsletter.

þakka þér kærlega fyrir !

I'm interested to know your thoughts on the potential for a slightly differento system where a customer makes a cash purchase and then the system offers you your chaneeds in auroracoin...

To tell you the truth, it is like you are reading my mind Smiley

My name is Michael Hannes and I am quite active in the Auroracoin community and always working on increasing adoption.

I have just started developing some business models that will do just what you suggested by offering Auroracoins as customer loyalty rewards, slowly getting auroracoins back into the hands of Icelanders.

Furthermore I have been encouraging merchants to accept auroracoin  (auroracoin101.is/merchants) - and am building an online store so that artists, musicians, and designers can start earning some auroracoins by offering products and services online.

I have recently started to work fulltime on Auroracoin and am working with other stakeholders to increase social media awareness on the project(s).

Thanks for your input,
michael

Do it has the IOS wallet, devs

No we do not have an IOS wallet as the Apple Store had rejected our application.  I believe they prefer to have a corporation / company to back up cryptocurrency wallets as opposed to a non-profit foundation...   not sure.

There is a lite wallet available for Chrome if you are running that on a pc - and a web wallet, but that is currently experiencing issues.

I hope to build a wallet feature within auroracoin101.is this summer that can work for IOS users.

Besides scams like DCM and TAK, this is the worst coin I ever put my money in. After 4 years, actually nothing happened. I think best thing for crypto is the foundation and board members step down and advice bittrex and cryptopia to take down aurora from their listings. Projects like this don't really help the crypto world.

Though admittedly, due to our small size and various reasons Auroracoin has been off to a slow start, it is not true that nothing has happened.

With our small team we have developed a Wordpress payment plug-in, android wallet, and participated in some interesting projects involving automated payments with Auroracoin.

Furthermore there have been merchants signing up in the last year on auroracoin101 and the auroracoin foundation has recently been upgraded, as it were, to the Icelandic Blockchain Foundation, ready to face some larger issues facing crypto-assets and blockchain technology in the realm of regulation, politics, and business operational frameworks.

I feel your pain if you got into the coin when it was ATH (all time high), but as we have seen over and over again cryptocoins face large swings and a bit of profit taking is the accepted norm.

If you had followed some dollar-cost averaging strategies you would have lowered your cost of ownership and perhaps taken some of your own profit as the coin went from .15 usd to 2.20 this last year.

Of course hindsight is always atleast 20/20 if not 20/1.      I hope you will continue to share your thoughts here and keep an eye out on this space.

My name is Michael Hannes and I was the protagonist in the Vice / Motherboard documentary on Auroracoin in 2016 and have been active with Auroracoin for over a year now and also started Auroracoin101.is last year and am currently working on an online store that will offer hand-made icelandic goods for Auroracoin and other payment options, in addition to tourist packages and offerings.   We hope to have that store up in a couple of months.

For now there is more talk about Auroracoin going on in Iceland since the over-heated events of 2014 and there are reasons to be hopeful.

take care,
michael
