Explorer down?

Any replacement coming?

Seems like it, I'll notify the person responsible for it later today. Sorry, as far as I know there is no replacement being set up at the moment.

The Github says there have not been any commits since early 2017? Is this correct?

There has been work done in the development branch.  We don't post development work in the master branch until we're ready for a new release, which should be sometime in the near future.

What happened to this project? It looks like dev has not been active for a long time. Look at the price today on coinmarketcap (https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/auroracoin/) its price is very cheap just only $1,3 right now.
I am not for sure, but remember that AUR coin has another offical thread on this forum. You can search by google engine to find it. I hope it helps you out.

Check the development branch in the github repo, that's an indication regarding the development activity.
Plan is to have a new release within some weeks.

Your post is right between 2 (out of 7) very active dev's sir. True, we haven't been very vocal in the media lately, but that doesn't mean good quality development hasn't taken place. Hodl on I would say ;-)

Last night I had dinner with my Icelandic friend who is in South Africa for three months.

He says he hasnt heard of auroracoin since the airdrop.

He bought bitcoin since he has been in South Africa but has no idea how to buy bitcoin in Iceland.

He has never heard of the Auroracoin foundation and is going to try and join when he gets back to iceland.
That is weird. What do you think about Auroracoin foundation?
Does everyone know if the project is still alive or has already died a natural death?

Adamastor is the house troll that tries to delegitimize the use of AUR in Iceland in favor of his own personal goals of using it in South Africa.  Take what he says with a grain of salt.

Well should I going to wait for the news whatever bad or good? I think this time is good time to buy coins.

Has anybody got any idea of why ISX is so often closed for maintenance these days? It’s getting rather unreliable there. There are never any explanations given and it goes down unannounced for a long time without any estimated down-time. It would be a lot easier to deal with if it one could at least know about it beforehand/how long it lasts.

It's now open again for over a week (wasn't announced), you can see the trades on the front page. This has been, I think, only the second time that it was closed, both times to push updates to the exchange. The have since recently a new developer that's maintaining it.

Also, are the Auroracoin foundation related to ISX, or are they separate?

ISX and the foundation are separate identities, but a few members of the foundation also run ISX. This is mainly because those members thought an Icelandic exchange with ISK pairing is needed for adoption in Iceland (which I agree with them).

Can somebody sell me 10k auroracoin? can´t use bittrex because of restrictions

please send pm if you can

Here are some other markets you can buy from: https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/auroracoin/#markets

I can sell them to you but you would need to send the money first due to your new account history
