Hey guys,

New news from canaan.

A8 announced.

Email below:

We are now officially sold out of Avalon 741 for December, and will have some remaining 741  to ship in January 2018. We will contact people on the waiting list to see if they are still interested. Around the end of the month we should be able to announce the new 8 series of miners. At that time we will give out price and performance figures and a First Customer Ship date. The product will be on allocation, and looking at your forecasts it's clear that some will have to wait. We go over every account and will decide in December.  For those of you waiting to hear about the distribution program please watch for future mails. We will probably add a few new distributors in January and then more throughout the rest of the year.

FYI the URL's in the email are not from Cannan's website. Cannan's  url  is:       https://canaan.io/product/avalonminer-741/

May be a phishing attempt.

Hey Ray,

The email received is from [email protected]

and am sure that it is true and not a phishing attempt.

I second that you reflash your Pi and set the DHCP yourself

Is setting DHCP something that is done from terminal?  If so what command can i run - I'm not teh best Linux guy Embarrassed

You can set it from the GUI.

After you reflash, set your PC IP address temporarily to 192.168.0.101 (and gateway to 192.168.0.1), and you should be able to access the controller at 192.168.0.100

From there login as root/root, and set DHCP in the networking. Reset your PC back to DHCP and you should be good.

You can also do it from the command line - canaan has a guide here: https://canaan.io/question/how-can-i-change-my-avalonminer-controller-or-raspberry-pi-1-2-or-3-from-default-static-ip-address-to-automatic-dhcp-ip-address/

Thanks I will give all of this a shot tonight

leave me your btc or eth address for me to buy you a beer.  I appreciate all the help.

@rs1x, How is your miner's pi connected to the internet? Is it connected directly to your router or does it go to an access point?
The Routes page is missing a gateway, and cgminer's api is telling you it cannot connect to a network. That's the issue; the cause could be many things.

Parallel miner said it's configured for DHCP. I don't know that I beleive the rasp pi is.

Did Parallel miner sell you the pi? I'm wondering if you have the wrong version of OpenWrt is installed for your pi. You may just want to reflash the pi with the correct image from Canaan.

I did get the PI from Parallel Miner.  They said it was configured with DHCP (and maybe they belive it is) but I wasn't getting assigend an IP from my router.

My network setup is :

DDWRT Router - > 6 Port Linksys SWITCH -> Raspberry PI.

Thinking that the 6 port switch was throwing off the DHCP, I plugged directly into the DD-WRT Router.  Still not getting an IP assigned.

In order to get an IP and connect to Open WRT I had to do:

Code:
Ifconfig eth0 192.168.1.125 netmask 255.255.255.0
Route add default gw 192.168.1.1 eth0

I was reading on a "blog" and there were these instructions:

Code:
In order to make the Avalon Miner 741 work, you will need to connect it via wireless network. Here’s how you do it:

Click on Advanced Version button (left side menu), then
    Go to Network -> WiFi,
    click on Scan button,
    choose your wireless ID,
    click on Join Network button,
    enter WPA passphrase (password),
    select LAN as firewall-zone.

Click on Submit and you will be redirected to the Device Configuration
Click on Save & Apply.

Perhaps I need to try them.

OR as Elphamyto pointed out perhaps I should try to reload the PI software.

I appreciate everyone's input on trying to help me get this thing up and running!

Hey guys,

I need help.

I opened several support tickets in canaan.io but no reply so far (it has been more than 2 weeks now).

I need several PMUs, 4 minimumas my A721s are not hashing due to dead PMUs error 3840 on miners boards.

Do you know where I can find them? or do you know any direct email to communicate with canaan.io?

Thanks.

you might have to reload the software on the Rasp Pi, you can find it in one of the older post or Canaan site.
Wait until you hear back from Philip, he has more experience than I do.

@Steamtyme - I will try to make sure I try all the ports on RaspPi

@Phil - when I click CGMiner API Log or CGMiner Status, I get sent to a page that says Bad Gateway.  I can't get to the CGMINER API log age or CG Miner Status page.

I recall Phil mentioned to make sure the RaspPi has good power.  I have a brick coming from Amazon, Aukey brand I believe it is.

Its definitely the RaspPi causing the problem, both of mine did this and scared me.
To fix it I shut it down waited a few seconds and powered it back on.
On my second one I had to do it twice but not sure if I rebooted the router as well.

I have tried this for the last three nights!  so i've had a few restarts throughoutt the time.
