it would be nice if you would allow newbies to have smaller avatars, a little 2x2 photo would be nice. would look great. but also i understand that its a way to define longer members than newer ones..

full member seems a long way to go... a loooong way to go

No, you should be active here in the forum only for 120 days, it is not a lot of time  Roll Eyes.

4 months to go then LOL.. the activity thing is complicated, i got it but still complicated

Don't worry, the new forum should have avatars for everyone.

I think the reason why theymos disabled avatars for members and lower is that SMF is still SMF, and no matter how hard you try to fix it, there probably still is a vulnerability.
Members who have been here for a long time probably have no interest in hacking the forum.

It's so colorful now, with different avatars for everybody. It's great! Thanks theymos!

AFAIK this is fixed. If you don't like your avatar try changing it.

Oh great, it really works now.

Animated gifs would be nice.

Is animated avatar like Bruno accepted now ?

There are a small handful of people who had an animated avatar before this new system. I'm not going to remove those, but if they update their avatars then animation won't be possible.

It`s more funny now. I always wonder why Avatars were disabled for some time. I like this option. May be this will be opportunity for some smart people to offer avatars of choice Smiley for Bitcoins.

avatars was first disabled after the site was hacked by someone back in 2013. if I'm not mistaken, the attacker was able to upload a script in the avatars directory, so theymos disabled until he could find a way to fix it, which he did

Someone uploaded something malicious as avatar and hacked the forum.

Hi
April 02, 2015, 01:10:23 PM
woot, looks like it's working properly now. thanks for your hard work (and joke), theymos.  Smiley

All of the old members or people who have accounts with avatars as collateral might be a little bit angry about this.

I don't think there's many of them. besides, account with an avatar is usually owned by an old and trusted member... I think

But when people need loans and put there accounts up as collateral having an avatar used to increase the value of the account. I think the biggest thing is going to be getting used to seeing accounts with avatars all over the place it used to be a rare thing.

Probably not angry about this, but probably a bit ticked off. Now accounts with avatars are going to be devalued, but avatars don't REALLY add much to the price, I have experienced this and didn't get much more than the average price without an avatar.

I signed up on August 1. So if you think about it, I waited 7 months to have an avatar, others might have waited way longer than me. 4 months will pass very fast and see it this way, you have 4 months to choose an avatar Cheesy

Thanks Theymos for allowing us to have avatars. Smiley

So buy a full member account and after you will be able to put the avatar to that account, it is not against the forum rules buy & sell the various accounts (remember to ask a signed message for the ownership prove and use always the escrow).
