Man did you guys know you can see all stats of a miner without logging in just add miner.php behind the ip adress and bam all the info is out there. You can even fucking restart cgminer through it.

The security on these things are horrible

Why would anyone put them open on the internet?

Don't ever forward a port to something like this. Setup a vpn if you need access to your home.

Pretty crazy Baikal is charging 7K  x 6 miners when return per day has gone down. According to what to mine $45 per day. Then is you factor in Market volatility you may be waiting for ROI for a year or more. Greed is a terrible thing. Maybe Baikal is just trying to cash in.

It's mining much more than that. That is why.

No it isn't. At least anymore.

Right at this moment getting $80 on nice hash with bitcoin at a lowly $10k.

Let's wait till the beginning of February, when majority of batch1 is delivered and let's see the roi then Wink

Same here. I am very disapointed from Baikal. ... But 7000$, that is 5 time higher then second batch and more then 6 times higher then first batch. This is just ridicoulous
....It would also not surprise me, if they would sell more and more batches until the device is useless like the Antminer D3.

c'mon guys, I really do not understand why are you all complaining about the price.. 7kUSD is still cheaper than the market price.  Why do you expect to get it from them 10 times cheaper than the market price. Do not forget - 1st and 2nd batch were pre-oders with the waiting time of several months(!) and it was completely new unknown product with only 3 algos - so it was also some kind of risk considered in that low price.

And again you are contradicting yourself - you want to get it cheap, but on the same time you do not want manufacturer to sell too much of them, like it was with D3. But how manufacturer shall keep his profit target in this case?
I find this price fair enough..at least for the existing X10 owners.
I got my X10 in the "first batch" from a reseller at $2500. I've been pretty happy with it, and I'm starting to see ROI.  That said, there is NO WAY I would buy another one at this stage of the game for as much money as they want now (unless I was going to immediately resell it to some sap), or even $2500 for that matter.  No way.  At what they are charging now, you are looking at a very tough time to see ROI once these new units come online.  As an example: DBG Skien and MG are already down well over 50% in terms of daily payout in a little over a month since I've had the unit (after the second batch came out).  While that is still plenty good for me (as my miner has all but paid for itself already), that's definitely not good for someone getting in to the game late (less than half the payout) at more than twice the initial cost.

If I had $50,000 to throw around, and thought that the price might stay inflated on ebay, I might consider buying a bunch to flip.  I would not intend to mine with them and expect to recoup that cost any time in the near future.

To be clear: I'm not complaining at all about the cost. It is what it is for a reason. It's just too high for it to make mathematical sense for me (or anyone, I would argue) to buy more for the purpose of mining.  I understand why the price is what it is, though.  If my units that I built were suddenly selling for $10,000 on the secondary market (ebay) at a good clip, I'd be pissing money away by not increasing my initial price.

Baikal miners use an FPGA, what makes you think they could run two algo's simultaneously?

Hello everybody.
What kind of the FPGA is used in Baikal's Giant products?
I have built some FPGA miners that became obsolete after release of the Giant X10.  But if Baikal Giant is not true ASIC, it becomes possible to develop  alternative FPGA miners for altcoins, as well as to write custom bitstreams.

Free market.
Baikal asks the price he likes.
If I think it's too high, simply I don't buy.
Before Giant X10, Baikal miners prices were not cheap.

Lets say the real Costs for one device is 500$. I dont think it is that much, But lets suggest it. This means they would earn 6500$ per device. Where i live, this would be called racketeering and it is a Crime...

Well well well, they finally did reply:
The $7000 batch of X10's does NOT contain the New algorithms...

Kind of disappointed now...

Has anyone actually managed to find out *if*, in fact, this batch that they are offering for $7000 each contains the 2 new algorithms?

I've asked, but they are dead silent about it... Just replied with the general copy-paste pricing email... :/

Same here. I am very disapointed from Baikal. They definitely made a lot of money with the prices they took for the first two batches. They could have sold one or two more batches with the new algorithms added, and so the miners as well as themself could have made some good profit. I wouldnt have complained if they would have rised the prices to maybe 2000$ or even 2500$. But 7000$, that is 5 time higher then second batch and more then 6 times higher then first batch. This is just ridicoulous.

Now, after the new price announcement, it seems, they are not better then bitmain. Just greedy people, that dont care a shit about the customers. I wouldnt be surprised now, if the new miners would have the new algos and they would not give a new firmware to the buyers from batch one and two, so only the new customers would have the advantage of those algos. It would also not surprise me, if they would sell more and more batches until the device is useless like the Antminer D3.

Like already said, i am very disapointed from Baikal. It is the next manufacturer, that is not trustworthy but just greedy... I really thought they were different then Bitmain. That was obviously a fault...

The customers (our) reaction should be, that noone orders only one from these devices. Unfortunately there are so much morons out there, dont knowing what they do, so i am sure they can sell their miners for that price...

The big mining farms will get bigger and bigger... Long live decentralization...

I agree with you 100 %. Long live decentralization!  Lips sealed

If anyone has an X10 and wouldn't mind granting me temporary access to it -- i'd appreciate it.

I'm building a coin hopping pool server and I'd like to make a custom image for X10 miners so that it automatically switches between the most profitable algo. I'm also curious if by deciphering the code if I could potentially unlock the ability to multi-mine. The X10 miner should be able to mine say qubit and groestlcoin (GRS) at the same time. If they had placed a couple additional SHA engines it would be possible to mine almost all of these algo simultaneously.
