Now seriously, those who have a gambling addiction shouldn't work in certain jobs like tellers, cashiers and, in general, jobs where a lot of money through your hands. It's like the barman who has an alcoholic addiction: the combination is explosive.

It may sound a bit sexist depending on the culture of the country where you live, but it also surprised me a lot that the protagonist of the story was a woman. Definitely some kind of bias on my side, but to begin with I would trust a woman with my money more than a man.

I wonder who should prohibit people with gambling addiction from working in such places? And in general, I don’t know in your country there are people with an official medical certificate that they suffer from gambling addiction? It seems to me that this is not a type of addiction that is easy to identify and document, like alcohol or drug addiction. It seems to me that this is a model of behavior that a person chooses voluntarily.

How far do people go to feed a gambling addiction?

In this story we have a young bank teller, 28 years old lady, who stole 28,000$ from four different elders who were suffering from health and cognitive problems. Her goal was to fuel a gambling addiction, as presented by the defense at the court.

Families must be attentive to their elders when going to the bank and dealing with money in general. Scammers and thieves are everywhere and always ready to take advantage of the vulnerability of such individuals at an advanced age.
I know many people could do unspeakable things for gambling's sake, but this story, I do not believe it towards gambling since it is not the first time people/bank workers have stolen from people's accounts, especially old people, believing that they may not be able to account for the sum anymore due to their old age or some kind of sicknesses. This is a case of a pure thief in my opinion, and whether it is for gambling or not, I would rather treat it the same way as stealing, nothing further.

Who knows, it may not even be for gambling but trying to blame it on something psychological like it. In my experience with legal proceedings, anything that enters the court can't be trusted, her lawyer may just be looking for a way to lessen her punishment and blame it on gambling addiction, especially if she has a history of gambling regularly. This is why I will always blame her action and not what she stole the money for, they are only trying to further paint gambling bad in some cases.

How far do people go to feed a gambling addiction?

Unfortunately, an addicted person has no limits, he will use any means he can to feed his addiction, this includes selling his parents' house, selling his own parents, selling his children, selling himself to feed his addiction, and that's why Addiction is a dangerous disease that must be taken very seriously, it is a very difficult disease to cure, it takes a long time to cure an addicted person, it takes a long time to get used to the disasters and problems that an addicted relative causes. It is not something easy and most of the time the addict ends up badly, he dies because he received late treatment

reading this statement that Sam Hunt (lawyer for the bank employee who is being accused of theft) gave in court:

She said the offending would never have happened if not for Tumapang’s gambling addiction, and she was addressing that issue.

I didn't see in the article talking about whether her lawyer or even she had show any proof that she took the money and played in a casino, because if she can prove that she really was sick, because addiction is a disease, she would not be sentenced to prison, but she would be sentenced to helping in some institution under constant monitoring by the justice system. casinos and sports betting sites are not to blame for anything, people are to blame for gambling without moderation

If she stole the money her defense doesn't really matter IMO. Doesn't matter if she was feeding her hungry kids, paying her mortgage, or feeding an addiction. None of that is a real defense, just a lawyer hoping to gain some sympathy and get a lower sentence.

I think either society is generally stupid or lawyers are really good. Unsure of which way to go with my thinking as lawyers tell a good and compelling story and are doing their jobs when trying to get clients a lighter sentence, but the jury shouldn't be so gullible and should be relying on facts in a case. Sure, you can feel sorry for a person, but very few reasons should get enough sympathy for an acquittal or very light sentence.

I wouldn't be surprised if something like this happened, in fact there are many cases crazier than this, it's just that they haven't been published so there are only a few cases that have surfaced, that's why it's important to know that gambling shouldn't be taken too seriously, let alone think that gambling can make us rich so that when we lose we always hope that by continuing to play we will recover all the money we have lost, even though that is clearly not possible and only a small percentage succeed. Since there are so many cases, there are still many people who are addicted to gambling.

Cases like this should not continue to happen again because there have been many incidents where there have been thefts and even cases of murder just because of gambling addiction, everyone should be able to understand every case that occurs and study it properly that gambling should not be a place to make money and people should not expect too much. with gambling because gambling cannot make someone rich just because of gambling, every successful person works or does business, not gambling, learn from this case so that you can introspect yourself that you should never try to finance gambling from stealing.

The biggest concern here is not about her addiction but rather why a simple teller can withdraw from a customer account without ay verification from the manager. I mean how come a simple teller has access to the database of all customers that she can determine dormant account and withdraw without his superior noticing it.

If all bank teller has this power then it’s suicide to use bank especially for savings purposes. I wonder if this teller authority is same to all bank in the world.

Back in topic, a gambling addicted person working in a bank is surely living in temptation daily since he always seeing money on his work and tempted to steal in every possible way. It’s sucks to be addicted while working in the bank.  Cheesy

Those who have a gambling addiction should realizes about his problem so he can start to cure it before it's too late to do. But not many people who have a gambling addiction wants to cure their addiction or even knows that they are addicted to gambling. But if he stole other people money just to fills his gambling addiction, that means the addiction is too big and must gets helps from people around them. Besides of gets in jail, she must cured her addiction because that can gives her another problem in the future when she is free from her punishment.

We must be careful with that and always pay attention to our bank account, especially our parents bank account. Scammers and thieves can tricks old people who doesn't know much thing about secure their bank account.

That's how people will change because of the money and we know how they can deal with different things just to sustain their gambling addiction, let's accept the fact that the elders are the ones to easily get deceived beside of their personalities of being kind, imagine the damage given by this teller it affects the elders sustainability this kind of action must need to get a sanctions and feel sad to those elders if their money have the chance to get back in their custody or it will get let go and let the teller pay those to them.

Addiction can really change a person's personality, making their behavior very sadistic and not caring about who they are targeting as victims, and all of this is the result of those who treat gambling in the wrong way and from the wrong perspective. However, of course this is purely the fault of a gambler who from the start sees gambling only from the chance of winning, and maybe I would say they are like losers who want to get a lot of money with little effort in gambling.

Parents are people who are unfamiliar with things that are complicated to look at, especially technology, they really need people they can trust, but on the other hand, in this case, I don't think the police will remain silent either. They must be able to find a truly appropriate solution and for the problem of lost customer money, whether they like it or not, the defendant or the defendant's family will definitely have to compensate them according to the amount they have used and perhaps the amount of compensation could increase depending on the legal policy there.

          -   It's really sad that the tellers took advantage of the situation of the elders to scam their four customers. What's even more annoying here is that the teller was merciless in what he did, not even considering the victim's health problems.

That's the real problem when there is a gambling addiction. A gambling addict can think badly, so it's important that we don't allow ourselves to have a gambling addiction. It's a good thing that there is a CCTV, which is the reason why the teller was caught and imprisoned.

How far do people go to feed a gambling addiction?

In this story we have a young bank teller, 28 years old lady, who stole 28,000$ from four different elders who were suffering from health and cognitive problems. Her goal was to fuel a gambling addiction, as presented by the defense at the court.

I opened the link you shared, read it and tried to understand it much deeper. this is interesting, because this bank teller made an excuse as if he did it because he was addicted to gambling. I wonder why gambling addiction often becomes the basis for strengthening someone's mistakes or criminal acts. in this case, a bank teller is said to have committed an illegal act by taking action to take something that was not his right from his customers using almost the same method. in fact, this person is skilled enough to choose his target, acting in a planned manner. he chooses each customer who will be his target. I assume that this Teller has studied various data from each customer of the bank where he works. well, with the method he carries out his illegal actions on his customers, I doubt if he only does it to fulfill his gambling desires. Maybe he's just making an excuse as a diversion, or perhaps to lighten his sentence. BTW, I don't really know about legal jurisdiction issues in that country. so, I'm speaking based on what I know, correct me if I'm wrong.

Regardless of the truth of the facts regarding this news, we often see one point of view on something that is violating, but in reality we ourselves are responsible for what we do. I mean in this context, cases of gambling addiction are always in the mainstream due to illegal actions carried out by someone. Simply put, in this case a person often commits illegal acts based on a gambling addiction, but in reality it is the person who is unable to control himself. apart from that, it is the presence of opportunity that makes someone tempted to do something that violates the law. yes, apart from the gambling addiction carried out by this bank teller, most of the main motives for crimes occur due purely to the will and low level of a person's personality.

It is quite strange that such crimes are considered justifications for gambling addiction. This woman is a criminal, with an understanding of her impunity and indifference to the victims. Even murderers sometimes do not raise their hands against children and the elderly because they understand the latter's defenselessness. But as long as the laws of those countries where justifications of addiction justify such scumbags and give them light punishments, scammers will exist with even more sophisticated deception schemes.

I don't think that this crimes are considered justifications, it's that the gamblers in this case the teller thought that she can get away with it buy targeting the vulnerable elder people because she knows by experience that they are not going to report and they will not find it out. And it's really hard to compare them to murderers or even drug addicts, gambling addiction is very different.

But as per as our experience, we really don't need to go down to this kind of path, than is one of the worst thing to do, to steal to feed your gambling addiction. Yes, it's hard to regain footing from our addiction unless it's too late, just like this lady who will go to jail and most likely he will have to pay back the money that she has stolen by any means.

I have first-hand knowledge of a similar case of a teller stealing from elderly people to fuel his cocaine addiction. It was minor when he was caught because the main problem with gambling is the large amount of money you can lose in a very short time. If you take drugs like cocaine or heroin there is a limit to how much you can take without dying. You can't snort $1M of cocaine in one night, but you can lose $1M in one night at the casino.

Wow, that's nice to hear that you're able to overcome your addiction. It becomes a rare thing that someone is able to be successfully defeated their own gambling addiction.

While you're one of the few, with those several stories that I've read. It's hard to extract all of them into few on which who are those that managed to overcome just as you.

Imagine that those elderly worked hard all of their lives to save for their retirement fund and there's this abusive and addicted teller robbing their money.
You have no idea how hard it was for me the first few weeks when I completely gave up gambling. Indeed, the pull is very strong. All the time I was just thinking about starting to play again. This thought was constantly in my head. She did not leave either day or night. This is an addiction that you need to get rid of so as not to lose all your money.

Yes, I still play sometimes, but very carefully. I set a limit for this process and do not go beyond it. Many people need to do this, but alas, it doesn’t work that way.

How far do people go to feed a gambling addiction?
How do some people feel when they are gambling with illegal money, or with an amount that they are not supposed to gamble with? How do some people feel when they are about to do some crazy things just because they want to gamble? How will someone steal that amount of money just because they want to gamble? The funniest part of the story is that she is a lady. Things like this are just what make people in society think gambling is a bad activity. Seriously, the lady is supposed to be properly punished, and she has to refund the amount of money that she stole.

When someone is addicted to gambling, they hardly care about what they are doing, whether it is bad or not. All they are after is just to be having money to be gambling always. The crazy thing about gambling addiction is that if some of them are hungry or not even feeling well, they will prefer to gamble rather than feed or take care of themselves. I have met some of them before. So if someone is addicted to gambling, they can go to any length to find money to gamble. Gambling addiction has turned many people into thieves or made some people commit crimes just because they want to gamble. If someone is addicted to gambling, they hardly think wisely because they only have hope for making money through gambling.

Gambling addicts no knows boundaries, sex, race, religion, jobs. They will do everything to continue their activities regardless if they are going to steal money from elderly and take their position of authority, as long as they can secure money they will do it. So just imagine this teller that after she steals, she might probably be smiling like a devil inside for having that money in her hand and got to land based casino with thoughts that she has unlimited funds.

And base on the investigation, it grows bigger and bigger everything. So her decision is clouded and can't think wisely because all she care is gambling. And we don't know if she won or not, and this case is just example how gambling will corrupt everyone and for sure this lady is remorseful of what she had done to her victims.

People have done even worst things than this just to gamble, the question we should be asking is; are they mentally okay?No normal person will go to such extent just to gamble, those who go through all that are mentally ill and need urgent help else they will do even worst things. Addiction is a mental disorder that controls its victims to do unthinkable things. The young lady will not involve herself in such act if she was actually okay and that is why, her loved ones need to be there for her before she loses it all. I just hope those who are not yet addicted would read or hear about these stories and be cautious of their gambling habits.  Gambling has ruined lots of people who were careless.

On the moment that you would really be on such addiction state, then this would really be something in your mind.

1. You would really be only minding about on playing no matter what.
2. You dont care on where those funds come from as long it would be that available then you would definitely be playing.
3. You wont mind about on the possible consequences that you might be able to experience

This is why the most important thing that you should consider on the moment that you do gamble is dont let yourself that getting addicted.
Why? Once this one would be able to shackle you then it would really be that so damn hard for you to get out and this is something that you
should really be that careful if you dont really like yourself on having that kind potential problems in the future or putting up on such tough situation.
