Are you mining with a CPU? No, that's nowhere near enough. You'll need something like 100 or 200 million hashes per second (ie dedicated ASIC miner equipment) in order to be winning a good number of blocks. Mining with a CPU will just be wasting electricity, unfortunately.

Current difficulty is around 250 so unless you have a 200MH/s+ miner you'll probably need to use a pool.
