Hello BBR community,
I've been dabbling in a bit of coding over the last couple of months and finally can unveil the
test version of..... Popboolr.
http://popboolr.comPopboolr is a web app game based on real-time Twitter data that allows players to ‘claim’ tweets and earn Boolberry.
The idea is this:
- Popboolr shows a list of the most popular tweets on Twitter sent within the last hour (i.e. tweets [no older than 60 minutes] that have been retweeted the most).
- Users scroll through the list of tweets and click on the ‘unclaimed bools’ before anyone else does in order to claim the tweets
- Once claimed the unclaimed bools is reset to 0 and as the tweet is further retweeted more unclaimed bools become available (at a ratio of 1 bool per retweet)
E.g.
If Tweet 1 is retweeted 1000 times in 10 minutes and no-one has claimed the retweets, there will be 1000 unclaimed bools. The first user to click the unclaimed bools button for Tweet 1 is awarded 1000 bools. If Bob clicks the unclaimed bools button for Tweet 1 before Alice, Bob is awarded 1000 bools. Tweet 1’s unclaimed bools buttno resets to 0. If in the 11th minute Tweet 1 is retweeted another 15 times, the unclaimed bools for Tweet 1 will be 15 bools. Alice or Bob (or anyone else) can click on Tweet 1 to claim the 15 bools
- Once Tweet 1 is 60 minutes old, Tweet 1 drops off of Popboolr along will any unclaimed bools at that point
- Popboolr will thus consistently refresh with new tweets with aged tweets dropping off
- There will be a consistent stream of bool points up for grabs – the bool/BBR ratio will fluctuate depending on the popularity of the site and the BBR exchange rate
Popboolr will hopefully be the first of many 'boolr' applications that allow users to earn 'Bool'berry by being the first to claim 'r'eal-time data as it feeds through to the website. In the case of Popboolr the users can claim retweets for the most 'popular' tweets on Twitter. Future apps will allow users to earn Boolberry from live score football (soccer) data ('Footboolr') and lots more...!
I've kept this test release super simple in order to get a prototype out for the community to feed their thoughts into. There are lots of directions I can potentially go with this concept however I'm keen to get as much feedback as possible before venturing too far down any particular route.
Aspects of the app I do plan to work on are:- (a) a user account page and (b) devising an automated way for user to redeem Boolberry for 'bools' points earned (c) bonus bools and charts that acknowledge users who have earned the most bools in a given one hour period.
Please note - this is a test release and as such I will not be paying out Boolberry on bool points accrued during this period. Also be aware I may need to periodically wipe data or take the site down.
This is my first venture into coding/ web development so I would welcome any technical or design suggestions.
I'd also appreciate it if anyone can spare the time to test the app. All that's required is a Twitter account and to click on any unclaimed bool points you see. I've tried to optimise the site for mobile browsers, so I'd advise using a phone for the best user experience (I will be looking to create a mobile app at some stage).
Please see below for more blurb,
Introducing Popboolr.comRealtime retweet dataPopboolr is a web and mobile app that provides real time data on Twitter retweets.
Where twitter provides data on what hashtags are currently trending, Popboolr lets users know what tweets are trending, who tweeted them and who's retweeting them.
Web app gamePopboolr also contains a game that allows users to ‘claim’ retweets as they're tweeted. The aim of the game is to claim retweets before anyone else and rise up the Popboolr leaderboard.
Points (called 'bools') are awarded per retweet claimed. Bools can be converted to Boolberry.
The amount of bools per tweet awarded will fluctuate with the value of Boolberry.
How to play1. Login: Log in using your Twitter account details:
2. Claim Tweets: Scroll through the tweets and click on the 'unclaimed bools' (highlighted in green) before any else does to claim the retweets.
3. Collect Bools: Collect as many bools as you can and rise up the leaderboard.
4. (UNDER CONSTRUCTION) Redeem Boolberry: Convert your Bools into Boolberry before they expire (00:00 UTC the day after they are collected).
Trendy tweets/ Data retention policyPopboolr has been configured to only tracks tweets sent in the last 60 minutes. Tweets more than an hour old will not appear. The aim being for Popboolr to reflect the fast-paced nature of social media.
Feedback any comments or suggestions to
