Wallet on one machine that can sync with the network. You will need the bytecoind node updated and running on all machines so that you can detect and mine blocks. I have a 50+ i5 cpus that could work on this. Do I need to install wallet on each of the machines? Or there is a miner to point out to single server wallet/comp ?

I think they are just anticipating a wave of clones. Being the first implementation of cryptonote, they have the right to keep their app proprietary. Maybe if someone creates a better, open source miner they will release it because it would no longer be 'the first-and-best' and just 'the first'. Then people would have a choice between which miner app they want to rip off for their own Bytecoin clone.

That's exactly it. Not releasing source code is fishy. I don't have anything particularly important on my mining PC so I could always wipe it if it becomes infected. But for the sake of maintaining discipline, I won't use stuff like this. Poor practices eventually lead to messing up and screwing yourself some time in the future.

It's a little paranoid don't you think? Antiviruses are meant for something imo ^^

It could. Linux is faster then windows in general so. I think you should give it a try.

Because it could turn my computer into a paperweight or perhaps infect it with something to steal wallets. They refuse to release the source code so it's just an executable posted on a forum that one has to trust. I've been on the internet too long to do that.


I don't think OS should make a difference unless the linux daemon yields more hashes/s. Did anyone test that?

You can give linux a try. Simply setup virtual machine with ubuntu (VirtualBox) on your windows and follow the instructions from the how-to thread.

Why dont you try minergate bcn pool? I have been mining there for two days already with 4 h/s and I have mined 75k bcn

1 block per 35 hours.
2 days without finding block is normal. Just go on mining.

The second one I guessed was 'r' but I wasn't able to find it in any hash tables.

Took the risk on a well insulated PC a couple days ago. Mining working well, and received payout of about ~100k so far. Nothing strange happened yet. I'll report any changes.
