As I said, he is just a bluffer. Never actually managed to do anything. Not even sure why everybody panics when he says he will kill something.

I guess some people where not born when Auroracoin was around..

Honestly I think you might be reading into that a little too much. I too have been following the discussion, you're making it sound like the devs are imploding and the project is on the ropes...I don't think that is the case at all.

Its a pretty big decision to make: either change the mining rewards or let the coin price fall naturally. Sounds like certain whales are getting a bit sick of propping it up.

its funny because it is true.

lol, are you sure that isn't supposed to be "is it true" Wink

Personally, I feel that the MEW group and dev response, which included several important folks that are typically outside of the XMR circle, was beyond impressive.  It was substantial and perfectly executed.  Anybody who doesn't think the coin is MORE valuable now than it was pre-threat honestly isn't paying much attention.

In other words, the market seems to be undervaluing XMR, by my guess, in the range of 15-20% right now.  It's on discount.  Your mileage may vary.

Really? Have you read the Monero ANN thread recently? Even some core supporters admit the inflation is pretty bad and to maintain a price of .0004 required an unrealistic amount of daily BTC influx.

There was a big fuss over there because the devs (new or old, I don't really know) want 1% of all mining to go into a development fund of sorts, much to cover money spent today and in the past few days. Then there was a pretty stiff "no" reaction from pretty much everybody.

Fact is, they are having internal problems right now that could be "coinkillers" of their own... Maybe the decay of XMR will come from within...

He killed off Aurora coin, used to be the #2 crypto.  BCX is merciless.

Was Auroracoin really ever ahead of Litecoin?

I thought you decided this attack was called off...

To the best of my knowledge, the last communication from BCX was Tuesday...about 53 hours ago.  He said that TW attacks can take 2-3 days to materialize.

By my reckoning, the market seems to be pricing in some residual threat.  Price dropped from .0037xxx to .0028xxx almost instantly, then settled in around .0031xxx for a while.  It has been in the .0036xxx range, but is once again .0033-.0034, so my guess is that there is still some TW fear.

To be fair, the airdrop killed off Aurora. The airdrop model itself.

He did rile things up and did the timewarp thing, which in the end made the coin stronger due to devs then fixing the flaw. But that's not what killed off the coin. It would have died off regardless.

Then you still don't know what a Timewarp attack is..

He was saying there was some exploit which if fixed would compromise anonymity. He then gave a deadline and vanished.
Unless your timewrap will take us 4 days back and let him retract his claim then its useless Grin

What coin with a significant hashrate has he actually killed? I keep reading here that he made threats to Litecoin but could never actually do anything.

Think it will be a major cop out.

He is an early Bitcoin investor. Probably has a few million USD to his name in BTC.

What does that have to do with killing coins?

lol u know how much dumping $100K on AWS gets u in hash for a cpu coin?

plus some people say he has tens of millions

That would be just a 51% attack. He is claiming an exploit which makes it vulnerable. Nothing in his history shows he is capable of figuring that out.

As I said, he is just a bluffer. Never actually managed to do anything. Not even sure why everybody panics when he says he will kill something.

I doubt that BCX will do anything to Monero. He hasn't successfully killed or even seriously attacked any coin of significance. Some random shitcoins, which had so little hash that any moron could attack them, given sufficient resources. Unless he's willing to waste tens of thousands of dollars for the sake of his ego, nothing will happen. I've heard that he has quite a tidy sum of BTC/LTC, but is it really worth wasting such resources, just to stick it to the troll that baited him?

Good question. I would do it if it were just a drop in the bucket to me. Its not "just to stick it to (a) troll," its to shut up the most obnoxious crypto community we've yet seen.

If his attack is purely hash rate based then it will be like a storm. It comes and goes and the longer he holds his "fork" of monero in place the more money it will cost him.

It would not surprise me one bit if he was to back out on this so called attack like he did when he claimed he was going to fork/kill Litecoin in 2012 and then didnt.

lol - ya except there is aura coin.  and I just found a ixo coin he forked.  etc etc.

if hes willing to dump 500btc in it like i heard he wanted to bet richbaldy then i betcha he holds his fork for a long time - even if he's paying premium for all AWS hash  Cheesy

hey since spotniek isn't here - go make me a smoothie  Roll Eyes

lol you sure are the type to jump at BCX's every move aren't ya?
