Otherwise what is the point, every modern currency can be exchanged digitally already.
Not irrevocably though.

Going with Ripple would ignore one of the basic ideas behind bitcoin, that it is not being controlled by a central entity.  Otherwise what is the point, every modern currency can be exchanged digitally already.  The problem is when they all rely on dollar for integrity and are printing off money to pay their own bills and making every holder poorer.

GridCoin seems to be very promising, seeing as it rewards users for contributing computing power to scientific projects. DarkCoin (and ZeroCoin, once the standalone alt is released) is looking very good. They dont look profitable on the outset, but they provide real value to their users, giving them value, and the profits should follow.

Ripple capitalization is just heavily manipulated because they have Gliss on coinmarketcap fiddling with the numbers to make it look bigger than it really is.  Remember when Gliss used to accurately report the number of available Ripple Coins?  What made him changed his mind?  Did he receive a Ferrari as a birthday gift?  Possibly..

https://web.archive.org/web/20140611024200/http://coinmarketcap.com/
(8 billion Ripple coins back then compared to 30 billion Ripple coins now)

2 months before that:
http://web.archive.org/web/20140405192501/http://coinmarketcap.com/
~100 billion XRP (just like now, see http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/views/market-cap-by-total-supply/), compared to ~30 billion XRP not at RippleLabs.

Because of that ("OMG Ripple = evil, so many coins + premine!") Gliss implemented a check for distribution values which scrapes web sites. Ripple Labs first put on their page (https://www.ripplelabs.com/xrp-distribution/) that they owned 80 billion XRP and handed out ~8 billion of these (June: http://web.archive.org/web/20140625224750/https://www.ripplelabs.com/xrp-distribution/), this is what Gliss put on his page. Some time later RippleLabs put on their page that they owned 80 billion XRP of all 100 billion XRP, handed out ~9 billion and don't own ~29 billion of all the XRP (October: http://web.archive.org/web/20141007095332/https://www.ripplelabs.com/xrp-distribution/) - hence the spike in "market cap of coins in circulation".

I say VMC is one of the underdogs, just a small community, but they have a dedicated Team that takes care of the coin and those who have invested until now.

BTC, LTC and RIPPLE

Two first as the most.

LTC and Ripple have both played their hand and it wasn't very impressive.  What else do they have left to offer that's going to get peoples' attention?  What exciting developments do they have in the pipeline?  Not much.  Neither look like a potential candidate to be a game-changer.  Neither look like a sound investment.  If you're looking at alts, look for something innovative that actually has potential to move up.

Ripple has nothing left to offer and doesnt have potential to be a game changer lol?? They have a team of over 60 working hard every day on a protocol that banks and financial institutions will need to stay competitive in the future.

Maybe they don't offer you individually anything, but there are people building on top of ripple right now just like netscape was in 1994 ontop of http. Those are the people that are going to make the profits that you're looking for...

Ripple is too centralised and thats my concern.
NXT, NEM and even ethereum have more to offer.

Nem certainly fits that bill.. PoI has been gaining more recognition as of late as a challanger to the current rise of PoS coins. the tech behind PoI and nem in general is astounding. if anyone hasnt tested the beta i strongly suggest that they do. we are currently running a proof of importance competition that is yeilding some very interesting results.
