My guess is any coins that make themselves asic resistant, and that the new big players are yet to be released, though coins like vert are the way forward.

The best time to buy the next big thing is when it has just been listed on an exchange. Once it starts shooting up in price it is usually too late to buy at really low prices. I regret not buying doge when it was newly listed on coinedup and dirt cheap. It might well survive the current downturn and shoot up in price in the future.

You can always say yourself "I'm a long term investor" Tongue

Some of the new PoS coins seem popular and you can get the newly listed ones at really low prices. They might be really big later in 2014.

...all the newest newbies are it seems. If I were a suspicious sort I'd think nem had a sock puppet army on the march, but *that* can't be right.

tek or phs/hbn seems to be a good idea right now, they have the highest interests rates and are actively developed

precisely. Also stacking bcx, mint, ecc, and zeit while prices are low.

I just wanted to point out, that there is no "fair" in cryptos. There is only: "Not exploitable".

BTC uses proof of work (you can't "fake" work)
NXT uses proof of stake (you can't "fake" stake/ownership of coins, well you could borrow them)
While both favor specific range of people, they both do their job.

If someone finds a way to distribute coins and fees more fairly, then go ahead and make it unexploitable, but I don't think we will see that soo Wink

I prefer pow/pos hybrids as a distribution model. Sure there are problems with every distribution method, so we're down to subjective value judgments. 100% pre-mines with ipo style distribution is my least favorite.

ymmv.

It's clear however that someone late to the party wanting to create an income stream from next had better have deep pockets. The same is not true of the high yielding pow/pos coins however.

So which Pow/Pos hybrid coins do you recommend?

nem is certainly the coin with the biggest share of newbies pumping it. I'll give you that.

nem is a big player? What's the market cap on that?

I like the idea of next's features and I like pos, but the way next was distributed stinks to high heaven and ensures that only the first few that got involved get the transaction fees.

How much BTC do you get from fees, if you hold 100 BTC?

No only you get NONE, you also lose 11% with inflation!

Fair enough. I vote for HoboNickels then. ;p
