For me now the best altcoin to invest in still remains ethereum although the recent movements in the prices of ethereum has not been encouraging since the price was falling when the price of bitcoin was going up. What I think though is that as long as the project has loyal investors and the creators are always working on it then it is a good coin to invest in.
