The more announce regarding the official wallet to claim your bitcoin gold will be announced by the developers in the future. Just like bitcoin cash, for the second answer, the best choice for you to buy the coin that will be generated the fork coin like the bitcoin.

I think it is best to claim it right after the release and
1. dump all of it day 1 and don't look back
or
2. wait some more time to see it pumped and dump all of it (again). This is the best strategy for sure.

for myself it's better to Buy Bitcoin for investment because Bitcoin price goes up day by day.

That would too yield you bitcoingold for free. You would be getting a new alt bitcoingold equal to your bitcoin balance on the date 25th October 2017, for free.

Personally I'm going to put my bitcoins on the online wallet or exchange which promises to provide bitcoingold than bothering to manually claim it.
There already are a few.

Hi guys!  Cheesy

I've been following this forum for a while now and this is my first post.

I have two questions:

1. Where should I put my bitcoins to receive btg?
2. What is a good altcoin strategy concerning the fork?

I started with bitcoins just before the bitcoin cash fork. I had/have my bitcoins in coinbase and my altcoins divided between poloniex, bittrex and binance. The last fork I missed out on BTC cash. What should I do with my bitcoins to receive them now? Is transfering them to poloniex/bittrex enough?

Regarding my second question: Am I correct to think that lots of altcoins will go down before the fork because people are trading them for btc? I do some daytrading, does it make sense to set sell orders but no buy orders until the fork? Is it likely that altcoins will go up fast after the fork? What is your guys strategy to get the most out of the fork?

Thanks for your help! Smiley

It will be really interesting to see if the large exchanges support GOLD. Bittrex did for BTH - that simple move made it what it is today. Thats the decision that will make or break GOLD I think.

I'm actually tired of those forks, and won't do anything prior to fork. I have some positions in bitcoin and in altcoins, and i will just leave them. Maybe I'll just buy some more altcoins in which future I believe prior to fork, when their price will dump.

same here! A lot of ppl think that this fork will be like the old with bcc but i don't.
btg won't be worth like bcc. They don't have a huge support like bcc.

Totally agree! Not well-known developers, poor community, band English in their whitepaper... I hope this will show that these kind of forks are nonsense and we won't have them in future anymore

Bitcoin Gold is worthless. If you have your private key then you can claim your coins but not sure how much btc will you get from this fail coin.

To be 100% sure to get them move them to a wallet where you have control over your private keys. Or you can leave them on exchange, but make sure it supports btg.

2. What is a good altcoin strategy concerning the fork?
Buying befor the fork should be best in my opinion. Everyone is trying to move alts into btc to get a maximum btg.

when should i have my btc in the wallet (with private key) for getting btg?

I would move them 4-5 days prior to the snapshot day (25th oct.). normally fees will get higher and higher as the snapshot day comes closer and everyone will wants to move alts to btc and take them from trading exchanges

i've done exactly this for BCC
