Hello everyone,

I am new to the whole Bitcoin thing. I'm learning that there are a bunch of different Bitcoin wallets out there and from the research i've done some are better than others. I'm looking for something that will keep my Bitcoin safe but also something that's not going to charge a fee every time i go to make a transaction. What's the most popular wallet that everyone is using? Any feedback helps!

Thanks,

Danolanater

That transaction fee is not claimed by your wallet client, but the miners.
Standard bitcoin tx fee is now at 0.0001 btc / KB, and you will need to pay it no matter which client you use.

You can take a look at http://bitcoinfees.com/

Online wallet is blockchain.info
Offline wallet is Electrum

Do you use Electrum on a computer that's connected to the internet or is that computer "really" offline, as in you sign your transactions on it and then broadcast those transactions to the Bitcoin network on another machine?

Armory is my choice, maybe it has too many advanced options but it's still easy to use.

I recommend to use BlockChain.info
The interface is simple & safe so i enjoy using this wallet

But it's a Web wallet. One of the more trustworthy ones, granted, but if you're looking for a 'true' wallet, you may want to use one that actually runs on your machine and manages the private keys to your Bitcoin addresses itself!

Electrum is a pretty decent wallet. It's rather easy to use and yet you can configure your transactions manually if you like to. You can also define which addresses you like to use to fund your transaction and have watch-only wallets. The seed-method they use to deterministically create your addresses is great, too!

Long storage or for daily use? I prefer MultiBit, as it is a lightweight-client and thus doesn't have to download the whole Blockchain! It just downloads parts of the blockchain from certain peers and is ready to use a lot faster! Electrum is also great and you can easily back-up your wallet by storing the seed.

For small change, I use blockchain.info wallet service and electrum. Electrum do not download the blockchain and is secure enough for most people

This exact same question has already been asked here: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/best-bitcoin-wallet-724219

If you're going for a desktop wallet go for one that doesn't download the blockchain, otherwise you'll probably be waiting a while to get your coins.

Depends on what your needs are. Wallets are only as safe as you are too. I'd maybe start with a blockchain.info wallet. You can choose not to send a fee, but you should include a small one just to help the miners out. You can also use blockcahin.info app on your iphone or android device to send payments easily.

BTC-e is nice too.

Thats not a wallet, its an exchange. You have no control over the private keys, thus if some BTC-e employee with access to the keys thinks the payment/work sucks, your coins are gone and there is nothing you can do about it.
