A wallet that does not charge a fee is not a good idea as it could result in your TX taking a week orso till it gets a confirmation.

Other than that all of these wallets [1] are recommended.

The safest is the Armory, but a good one is Multibit.. If I had to say just one, I would probably stick with Armory.. you can pretty do much anything with it. The bad part is its a memory hog, I believe you need 6gb of memory for it to run properly, but most computers these days have that..

Electrum is also a good choice..

Depends on how many bitcoins you'll have. If it's a small amount, you can use Electrum. It's easy to use. If you'll have allot of bitcoins, use Armory, it has the most security. The bitcoin qt is good too and fairly secure.
