Myetherwallet and metamask are most safety I think. But if you have many crypto coins and don't want to losing money, you must buy ledger or trezor.
Metamask is safe though there are people who are worrying about these chrome browser extensions, I never had problems with it. And it also has its built in feature that detects suspicious websites which is helpful mostly to the newbies and people who aren't aware of what are the phishing sites are or those sites that contains some malicious software.

I disagree that MEW is the safest wallet. It's the most used but it is not the safest. Also its redundant to call MEW wallet. MEW means myetherwallet so if you are calling it MEW wallet.

The best wallet to use for storing erc20 based coin or token is myetherwallet or metamask because they have very good potentials, they has large space, they are reliable, safe and secure and they are also good coins. How can you find it that keeping your private key safe is a problem? same comparison for those people who are keeping their money on the bank is also a problem with that logic. Being responsible with your private key is what an holder shall do.You have the best wallet but you are not careful with your seeds so its useless. Have you tried the Trust wallet? I think it's the best wallet to keep ETH and the best ERC20 on the phone. Handle transactions very quickly, Horizontal with MEW. And the interface is very simple for the user
