Don't reveal any private keys while you are participating in airdrops and bounties because they no need that other than steal your funds.But we can't say MEW is most safest because it can be hacked by phishing links but I consider it have enough security for storing the airdrop and bounty tokens which may not have huge value.

Using hardware wallets for storing the ethereum long term is best choice but exposing your hardware wallet for cheap tokens you can make from airdrops is not suggestable,and it is better to use MEW for airdrop tokens and once you received the tokens then you can transfer it to the primary wallet if it supports that token. Normally I use MEW as my main wallet but now I use nano ledger because it's safer because all the controls are in our hands.
I think myetherwallet is a good wallet to use. It is stable and used by a large number of participants because of it's safety. Be careful not to share your private key with a third party and try not to misplace or forget the key. You can also check out the announcement section in the forum for some other wallet which are safe for this purpose.
