I think Binance and bitfinex are good. Invest in an external wallet if possible to store crypto

I use Bittrex but they have problems with lags, and Binance. Bittrex is popular but many people go to Binance.

Binance, Kucoin, Bitfinex - don't have lags, minimum for lot is about 10 USD, excelent for beginers, but Bitfinex don't have registration now Tongue Localbitcoins for buy/sell bitcoins, like for exchange rates.

LocalBitcoins is the way to go if there are sellers in your country. If not - there should be companies that exchange crypto in your country, at least there are such companies in mine. You could also join a Bitcoin Facebook Group and find somebody who sells BTC there and meet person to person.

Coinbase is the best exchange site for buy and sell
That's mere an overstatement, as fees are big comparing to other exchanges.
But that's only my personal opinion.

Avoid Cryptopia until they sort out all the problems.

Thanks, I'll take a look at those exchange sites.  I intend to use a Ledger Nano S to cold store about 50% of my coins.  For coins not supported by the Ledger I will have to look at other cold storage options.

There are many...Coinbase being one of them if trading in USD, Koinex, Zebpay if trading in INR. After buying always keep you coins that you are not trading in wallet instead of exchange.

Hello, what is best exchange site where I can buy Bitcoin for fiat via bank transfer? And how long it needs to show that this money is on my balance?

Some exchanges need 5 days and that's too much.
i would recommend coinexchange.io because some of the famous site like bittrex and poloniex has more users so it takes a lot of time when you transfer something. coinexchange.io is famous although but still can manage some of users.

Is there an Exchange site that offers the majority of altcoins or do you have to use multiple sites?

I am new but really like https://www.crypto-bridge.org/ because its decentralized. Was s learning curve but after you figure out how it works its great. I do not know how the fees and prices compare with others though. Checked a few things and it was acceptable so I made some rather big trades (for me anyway) there. I wanted to sell one coin an buy another. I needed to sell one coin to BTC and then buy the other coin with BTC.

At a push Binance, Bittrex, would avoid the rest.
Binance is only for alts, no fiats there...
I believe here are many newbies also, which are trying to find reliable entry-point.

I personally find Kraken reliable, solid, with good rates and good volume, accepting FIAT deposits.
