You could check out www.tresorit.com . They claim to use end  to end encryption, so they should be pretty safe.

Seems cool, but at $10 for 100Gb a month, it's pretty pricey... If you're really into security, maybe you can put your files into a truecrypt container before putting them on dropbox?

You get 3Gb for free. Lifetime.
If that is not enough, yes, you have to pay.
I'd say that's better offer than dropbox have.

Depends on what you want to store. If nothing serious then use Dropbox.

For me if it's online, it could not be 100% secure. There are always leaks, always hacks, always problems.

I use Google Drive too and I managed to get additional 2GB on the Feb 9th by carrying out Google Account security check. That's part of the activities during Safer Internet Day.

I took the plunge to, installed owncloud on my deciated box, and rsync'ed the data to my VPS.
If it works, i'm even thinking about renting 3 small VPS's, installing openstack on them with 3 copies of the data, and installing owncloud on top of this... That way my data is completely secure Smiley

I use Syncthing and only sync between my own personal devices; nothing safer for the convenience

Syncthing replaces proprietary sync and cloud services with something open, trustworthy and decentralized. Your data is your data alone and you deserve to choose where it is stored, if it is shared with some third party and how it's transmitted over the Internet.

Private. None of your data is ever stored anywhere else other than on your computers. There is no central server that might be compromised, legally or illegally.

Encrypted. All communication is secured using TLS. The encryption used includes perfect forward secrecy to prevent any eavesdropper from ever gaining access to your data.

Authenticated. Every node is identified by a strong cryptographic certificate. Only nodes you have explicitly allowed can connect to your cluster.

Seems very smart.
I use ownCloud. I do not trust ANYONE with my data.

If your only use for the "cloud" is to sync between computers Syncthing seems very clever.
