I'm very excited for the new Samsung S10!! Looks like Bitcoin is at the top. Anyone else waiting to get their hands on this?

"The app appears to support ether (ETH) and bitcoin (BTC) by default, as there are logos for the two displayed in the Blockchain Keystore introduction image. Further, there is a cryptocurrency/token “add” button, so users will presumably be able to use other cryptocurrencies and ethereum-based ERC-20 tokens via the wallet."

https://www.coindesk.com/hands-on-preview-of-samsungs-galaxy-s10-phone-reveals-new-crypto-details

This would be like buy a $1000 ledger nano s, lol.

Is nice to see the wallet inside in the OS, but let's remember that isn't a phone feature, is a software feature. I'm not sure about how secure would be to have our coins in our phone. But i don't like that idea at all. I say welcome to the technology but I see it as a vulnerability more.

Am I the only one who was thinking Samsung adding crypto support on their new smartphone it just for marketing strategies to make whales or crypto-community interest to buy this smartphone so it can increase their sales. I know Samsung Galaxy S10 is an awesome smartphone but I think S10 is just minor upgrade from Galaxy S9...
Nope, you are not alone with this assumption. I also have this impression, that this only a publicity stunt.
I would say that this is 3-4 years to late to make the proper impression however it is better late that never.
Let's hope that other will follow, not only with realising vanilla software but supporting the adoption by hardware solutions.
Cash registers, various shopping equipment, even trolleys and scanners are manufactured by Samsung, they will have to make all those cryptocurrency friendly, in order to persuade me in to believing that they also believe. One swallow doesn't make a summer.
As to upgrades level comparison, looks like we technologically stuck for quite a while now. They have to come up with at least some original software ideas.

So what difference does it make from the other smartphones with wallets installed. I have Mycelium wallet which is open source installed in my smartphone and it works like a charm without any hassles.
Samsung phone coming with pre-installed wallet is no better than this. Besides that there might be bugs in the wallet as we don't know how it works yet.

Perhaps it will help "remove the fear" from newcomers, same as computers with Linux pre-installed. Of course we don't know how good (or bad) Samsung wallet is, and i'd rather keep using my favorite wallet, same way we use our favorite distro on our PC, even when buying one with Linux pre-installed.

For Koreans i guess the appeal is that wallet can also handle fiat, which they have been using for electronic payments before adding crypto coins.

I truly think it's anything but an incredible plan to give yourself a chance to have one of this telephone by simply completing an exchange with digital currency, I rather have a more planned one with indistinguishable quality from this, I preferably sit tight for it over to purchase this telephone we don't generally know whether its truly increase the potential of your crypto wallet.

As time passes we have gradually seen the rapid adoption of bitcoin. And hopefully it will continue to the future, surely many will enjoy it especially with bitcoin lovers. Because they believed in bitcoin and they did not disappoint.

At least an information like this can explain the existence of cryptocurrency for people who buy Samsung S10, with the cryptocurrency feature will make them curious to understand it.
The people with big pockets can get hold of this phone and if you are planning to have a mass adaption you must consider having those in your budget phones and not on your high end version, i am sure it will not make much changes other than having some news headline about having a crypto wallet.

As for security related about private keys, I think they can revise the system to make them not know so there is no doubt for each user to save their cryptocurrency assets on the smartphone.
I really do not understand this part, how will they revise the system to make things better, have you reviewed their current wallet, since it is in pre order state i have not seen any review from any user regarding the wallet, after that i will make my conclusion, either way i will not save anything in my phone wallet even if they claim to have the most secure wallet.

this news many are talking about. this is a pretty good step as a pioneer in implementing their system with crypto blockchain. I hope they continue to develop their products so that they are not only crypto wallet storage. but there are many other benefits so crypto is more widely known by the general public.

Wow. Is that true? Then if it is, I will be glad to buy or purchase a samsung s10. Having Ethereum and bitcoin supported by a device directly is already convenient enough for me to use it as a transaction not only ethereum and bitcoin but also other cryptocurrencies. Samsung really has its way to wow people with their innovation from every phone or gadget they release.

I'm one of those who's very skeptics when the rumours came out, but since Samsung confirms it, then this is no longer a rumour.

However, I still have my doubts how secure the crypto wallets are going to be. There could be layer of security, but my concern is that our smart phone most of the time are connected, so vector attack is almost present every time, just saying.

I agree. Samsung is a big business in the market, therefore, I am not sure if it would really allow itself to be paid with something that could turn out to be less valuable than the product, in this case, phone units, since as a business, they've already invested capital in making and manufacturing those phones. Surely, they need a return of investment to keep the business running, and suddenly shifting to accepting cryptocurrency may not help that cause. However, on the other hand, since they are a big business, maybe they can handle the losses and cash out in the future.

"....According to the T&Cs, the private keys stored in the S10’s Keystore are backed up in a personal account provided by Samsung." So essentially Samsung has access to everyone's Private key in a centralized database.

We always say, if you share the Private key with anyone, then it is not just your Private key and that person or company can take all your coins.  Roll Eyes

To my opinion  Bitcoin and bitcoin cash are the safest way of currencies  for the internet the best way to pay with Bitcoin is first we have to create or get a wallet for our self .We can send or pay from the Bitcoin wallet easily with the Bitcoin wallet app from your smart phone .If we don't have a Bitcoin wallet or address we can send Bitcoins with the block chain wallet and it is simple to use by sending by sms , or e-mail just log in to your Block chain wallet and click to send option and then enter the recipients mail address and also the amount of Bitcoins you want to send to them .

-SNIP-  However I wouldn't bank largely at this to cause some hype for bitcoin and crypto, as the hype is still somewhat centered on the device itself. Also, most premium smartphone users won't even care with what's in their phone at all, as long as it's the latest and works.

I have seen the Samsing advert for the new S10 on T.V and they dont mention
this feature. While it might be a big thing for us and for buyers of the phone
who own crypto it wont mean much to the generalbpublic but hopefully the
feature will entice new people to enter crypto.

Happy to see a big company company like Samsung supporting cryptocurrency maybe this wouldn't help the market value go up a a bit. Apple's iPhone might be the next to have such wallets and maybe slowly many other brands would start doing the same.

I saw the annoucement and I'm very happy to hear that it is true. I am going to buy the S10+ in a few months, and I am looking forward to seeing the wallet. I'm very happy because Samsung is supporting the cryptocurrency community. I hope more phone manufacturers will follow Samsung and support Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.
