Linux is better for using online wallets, however if you don't want a offline wallet, then I suggest either Blockchain or one that has become quite popular Inputs.io

Offline wallet: Put a lot of money there, it is your deposites -> it is like your bank account (albeit safer since no banksters can mess with your money.

Most malware target bitcoin now - there's stealth bitcoin GPU miners, wallet.dat stealers, keyloggers that target blockchain.info, etc.
What? I don't understand, if your PC isn't secure then you will lose your Bitcoins, online or offline.
It is hard to have clean computer connected to internet and used daily, fortunatelly malware does not targets bitcoin now much
I use paper and the big exchanges with 2FA with keepass auto gen password with file and copy paste for U/P (on flash usb) Never all eggs in one basket.

It's a bigger target. Who do you think attackers will use 0 days on: some random IP address, or a wallet provider that stores hundreds or thousands of coins?
You need to trust your network. There are numerous documented security flaws against SSL, I can MITM your connection, MITM third party resources, etc.

EDIT: I've lost 2 BTC on my coinbase wallet because I was phished (password reuse, I use ubuntu), this wouldn't have happened if I had an offline wallet. So it's even less secure in some ways.

I'd say most people lose their wallets to carelessness; with that said, if carelessness is a person's weakness, an online wallet would likely be safer than an offline wallet, but a properly maintained offline wallet is still preferable to those who want the extra security.
An online wallet is not going to protect you against carelessness. Invalid argument.

Keep your coins in your control. On an online wallet you no longer control them, and just have to hope they give them back when you ask.

Actually a server is probably more secure than your desktop computer, but still you need to trust the operator. Given the long history of Bitcoin, I would not trust any single operator - not even Satoshi.
