I signed up for PIA a year ago. Mostly satisfied. A few months into it I could not use the PIA itself for some reason and they advised me to use Open VPN, which solved the problem.
I can recommend NordVPN. Many servers, great speeds and while they don't have a native Linux app you can set it up easily anyway. Also, it helps that they are based in Panama so out of the 14 eyes jurisdiction. Quite possible i am just skeptical the free hours might not be providing the encryption. Where ever the element of free service jumps in i have my doubts.
