The hackers couldn’t steal your alt-coin or have an access to your wallet if they don’t have it.

For ether, I prefer MyEtherWallet. I've been using this wallet since I earned altcoin and until now, I am satisfied with the service it offers. I am comfortable also with its security features and access features which I found safety from hackers. It can also easily store different altcoins and erc-20 tokens.

On the other hand, I also used to store some of my ether into my local wallet which is coins.ph. Here in the Philippines, coins.ph is the most trusted wallet for both ether and bitcoin.

For Erc-20 token, I think the best wallet is myethwallet. It is security and easy to use. If you want to use a wallet to take all the altcoins no matter it is erc-20 or not, maybe a hard wallet is a good choice to you.

As others are saying, Myetherwallet for ethereum and erc 20 tokens but this has been attacked by many phishers so be careful when you are trying to search them through search engines. And coinomi too is a good wallet that is supporting bitcoin and many alt coins visit their website to know what are supported coins https://coinomi.com/ so by combining these two wallets you can have almost every coin that you want to store, trade and sell.

You can also opt for hardware wallet as this is the safest of them all

I will recommend metamask not just because of the security metamask offer but also most ICO are offering ERC20 wallet altcoins which can be deposit to the wallet easily unlike mew and other type of wallets available in the market as of now.

i know about ethereum wallet, just use metamask. It is the best web wallet for ethereum and erc20 tokens.
other than ethereum, i guess you can download a client wallet for your desktop.

I prefer myetherwallet for storing Ethereum and other ERC20 tokens. Being totally decentralized wallet it provides a private key and an independent access to your funds without any restriction. In my opinion,I love my ledger nano/ trezor. of course you have to use it in some cases not all with MEW to access some token based coins. It secure fast and provides protection against phishing. Which hackers have used a lot of late to steal millions of MEW coins using a fake www address. SO be very careful, make sure your going to the real site and don't clink any forum or troll box, email links when dealing with your coins.

According to me, There are many of the best wallets that secure your coins but there is no other best wallet made by developers. And I choose jaxx.io this is the best altcoin wallet, altcoin many supported there, Bitcoin, Litecoin, Ethereum, ETH classic and others, you can check jaxx.io website in my experience this is a safe wallet.

For me hardware wallet is the best but there are also good online wallets available out there. I have been using myetherwallet for quite a while now and I haven't come across with any issues at all. But alwaya remember, no matter what wallet you ise and how good it is in the end it all depends on the user on how careful he or she is.

No other wallet is safer than the wallet created by the coin dev/team

Not all wallet developed by the team is safe. Other wallets created by them has a lot of bugs and sometimes your transactions doesn't go through when you use their wallets. The good side on this is that, you can easily contact them about your issues and they can fix it immediately.

Considering the recent DNS attack on MEW, I've been reading some articles that mycrypto.com is a lot safer than MEW so I've been thinking about using it.
