The best way to store your bitcoins is to store it in a place you can't spend it!

Buy and forget are my best words...

There are many ways to secure your Bitcoin. The advice given is not necessarily bad, but they exclude many other options. For example, they do not take into account your use case. Are you planning on using Bitcoin any time soon or do you just want to lock it and hold it for future use? Are you looking really safe or are you looking for a balance of complexity and security?

I use Ledger Nano wallet. I find it very safe and easy to use.

I think the best and secure way to store your bitcoin is to make an two duplicate wallet account. One is for your official transaction and one for your backup and storage. Of course, you need to have a unique bitcoin wallet address to make transactions. You can use Ledger nano wallet, because i think this is the most simple and secure type of btc wallet.

Hi guys
I know this might sound like a newbie question, but Ive not had enough bitcoin to think about putting any in cold storage since Cryptsy ripped me off when they went down Sad
But just lately ive built myself back up a bit, and just need to check my understanding of a creating a cold wallet is correct ? This is what I think was the best way but im not sure Huh

1. Download latest BTC client
2. move to a pc not connected to the internet.
3. Create an address on that PC without internet.
4. Send fund to address created on PC with no internet access.
5. Save keys in safe place Smiley

Also I was wondering if there are any 100% safe third party wallets that enable quick access if needed ?

Sorry if my question has been covered many times, but I just don't want to make a big mistake.

Thanks
Rick

But downloading a desktop wallet will require a big amount of data because you need to sync the blockchain.
the most safe way to store your wallet is store it in the cold wallet.

I think myetherwallet.com is more convenient and popular for keeping Bitcoin secure. To use this wallet a password is required. Without the password can not enter wallet. This wallet's password can not be used anywhere. So these Wallet users are protected by Bitcoin.

in my opinion, the safest way to save is to use a wallet address, and not to tell the key to anyone.

You don't have to download anything, just a script  that can generate a new address with its private key.
Generate a new wallet offline and print it on a peace of paper (paper wallet Smiley ), you have to keep it safe and never loose it.
Or you can use a hardware wallet, buy it from the manufacturer and not from an online shop to keep your Bitcoins safe and avoid scam attempts.

There is no safe or absolute safe storage method, only a relatively safe method, bitcoin is a decentralized cryptocurrency.

Now the private key can be generated using the mnemonic, so you can get a program to generate the mnemonic word and then write it down and write down the address.
There's a safe way to store bitcoin and that is through paper wallet or by purchasing a hardware wallet. You mentioned mnemonic? are you using blockchain.info only?

i guess the best way to store bitcoin safely is stored it on a hard wallet.
but you need money to buy hard wallet, it is not free.

I think, a hard wallet like Ledger Nano would be a very appropriate wallet for a safer place of your bitcoin since it is not connected in the cyberspace. But for me, even if you're using the most secured wallet be it an online wallet or hard wallet, there's always a chance that it can be hacked if you are too careless enough to secure it. Hardware wallet is still the best wallet that we can use in order to keep safe of our bitcoin. We are the only one who can access our bitcoin wallet if we have hardware wallet. There are many hackers around the cryptocurrency world and it is the reason why we should be careful..

The best way to store it is on cold wallet or paper wallet you just need to make sure to store it on a safe place that you only knows about it otherwise it will be stolen or destroyed. its also good to store on hardware wallet like ledger nano s, trezor because the security it offers.

1. Download latest BTC client

Yes it is the best way to secure your BTC on client wallet. The problem is, you need long time to download the database.
beside client wallet, you can use hard wallet of course, the most popular safest wallet for now.

I think there is no safe wallet for a professional hacker. But of course we need to do our best to make our wallet secured . For me, i preferred to use electrum and coins.ph bitcoin wallet then i make sure that i keep all the password and private key safe than nobody knows except by me. We are the responsible for the safety of our own wallet and wealth. Make some back up with your private keys and password for sure if ever you loss or forgot it ,you still have a copy.

In my own opinion, i prefer to use a cold wallet like ledger is a hardware that is very safe to store all your bitcoins because it is unhackable and cannot be open by other people. Just always put it in a safe place that no one could ever steal it from you and never misplace it because you cannot retrieve it once it was gone.

It can be safe but there will not have enough advantage for transection and use. Bitcoin is made for online purpose. If it will go for offline then new some issue also will be risen, it is sure.

As for me concerns, I prefer hardware "cold" wallet Ledger. I use Ledger Blue, because it allows to hold 10 coins at the same time. So, it is the most most reliable way of storage.
