Will Darwin ever stop spamming shot straight to the GK? If he works on his shooting abilities he would be one of the best striker of this generation.

To be honest, Darwin was an ice-cold finisher in his Benfica days. I'm not sure why he keeps getting offsite and hitting the post so often now.

Would be a great idea to bench him next GW though (unless your username happens to be "buwaytress").

He's now playing in a more competitive league, against actual defenders and not random part-time farmers from the Portuguese league. He'll do well; he's only 24 and has only one weakness (shooting). He has the most shots on goal this season (95), but only converts 11. The next Liverpool manager might be the spark for his breakthrough.

Too many captain options to choose from this week. Halaand is not going to get more than 60mins, he's one of my problem now.
True though, Darwin has been terrible in most of his games but, you could say his improved since Salah’s absence due to the AFCON, this he has carried on till now, though his strains of weak and poorly directed shots is still visible, he’s been finding the net in most games to actually consider him for a striker on my team. His got pretty decent points if you look at it but, his hardly my concern at the moment.

Cole Palmer just trashed my hopes of getting in the top 5 with his performance yesterday. I knew he was that good but, coming up with such performance against Manchester United, even I didn’t expect that for sure. Chelsea have been terrible when they played Manchester United and so, I took Palmer out to accommodate M. Salah and he gets 20points while Salah could only get 2 points. Worst decision in recent times.

Haaland gets a lot of BPS so there he goes. Same with Isak (when he is not injured). Darwin gets almost no BPS because he keeps missing the rest of his shots.

Anyway that should explain why everyone has been snapping up Isak for the past week or so; not saying Darwin is a bad choice or anything but his missed BPS potential plus his price per G+A makes him non-viable compared to some of the other FWD choices like Haaland, Isak, Wood, Muniz, etc.

Damn, I can't believe you would roast Darwin this way haha. But thank you for the stats. Darwin blanked a lot for majority of the season so I get the point you're trying to make 100%. I could remember one game he hit the woodwork up to 4 times IIRC but didn't score. Then he was handed the opportunity to take a PK which he missed as well. He needs to fine tuned his shots. Getting them on target is only halfway there.  Still, I made that post based on the fact that Darwin has outperformed some of those forwards in recent times.

It is also worth noting that Saka is quite low on both of these stats Smiley but maybe that's just a product of Arsenal's team play. (And Alvarez is completely absent from both stats which means you should sell him now if you haven't already.)

I think Alvarez's problem is due to Guardiola's rotation. He used to have a firm spot in the starting line up. Now, not so much.  Saka this season is nothing to write home about. Bruh fell off hard.

He's now playing in a more competitive league, against actual defenders and not random part-time farmers from the Portuguese league.

I can say the same for Nicolas Jackson  Tongue

That said, I still think he's one of the best or most complete conventional No. 9 player, he's got every skill set that's required of such role, from pace, to his dribble, and off the ball positioning too is exceptional, he's finishing touch is the only that's subpar, I'd rather have him over Haaland everyday as a coach, all he just needs in my candid opinion is to have a better finishing or conversion skill.
Darwin Nunez and Mudryk are in the same category, players with a lot of potentials, but need personal grooming for them to achieve their full potentials.

Darwin is likely to blank against Manchester United.

Liverpool was really disappointing yesterday, not sure what happened with that Salah substitution. I have a bet with icopress I will surely lose now, I needed 1-2 goals from him against the worst team in the league.
Man, 7 goals in 8 games doesn't seem out of reach to me.

In any case, I won’t win anything if you lose since I also owe a large sum to Cls63  Grin

I still think that there isn't a very big point difference between us. As I also lost the side bet I made with cryptofrka there could be an interesting situation occurring among the 3 of us at the end of the season.  Cheesy

Darwin Nunez did scored a lot of goals and created chances while he was at Benfica but let's be honest I think he's still the same guy he was at Benfica or at least he's level hasn't dropped significantly as the media or everyone else might be suggesting, Nunez was quite a very wasteful striker at Benfica too, the huge number of chances he gets just to convert one or two every fortnight is what made most overlook his conversion rate, and focused more on the number goals he scores. Premier League standard and the level of competition within the club might not have giving him the luxury of getting 6+ clear cut chances that should squandered every game.

^Nunez was leading for quite a while actually on goal involvements (goals + assists), and then Klopp started him more, and gave him more playing time, but without the usual suspects around him so it's been one hell of an experimental side. I have been keeping track of him, just not after end Feb anymore. Once Klopp retired, I mentally switched off.

I think he still ranks highly on that table, only Palmer and Salah back to active duty and scoring hattricks have now overcome his stats.

Also, I guess I was tracking him across all competitions. In the Premier League itself, he's definitely not been in top 3. But very impressive still, both product and xG+A.

It says that Liverpool and Man Utd players will return double points when both teams go head to head in the EPL on Sunday. If it's true, it might be a good time to get Liverpool players like Nunez, VVD and maybe Diaz?  If Jota or Salah were fit, those would've been my goto picks.

That is only for FPL Challenge obviously, not the main game.

Contrary to sentiments from NotATether about Nunez, I do think he is the best forwarded currently available now that the likes of Watkins, Haaland are unavailable and Alvarez blanks almost every GW.

The best forward currently available if we are going to be judging by goals scored is not Darwin, it's Isak. Just look at their goals per 90 minutes if you don't believe me:

Only Chris Wood and Erling Haaland are also higher than 0.8 goals per 90 minutes. Effectively, this means that they return in almost every game.

Also Haaland is not injured, he is just rested.

Also prominent on this list is Jota (before he got injured), Palmer, and Salah.

Nunez is 11th behind the likes of Muniz and Adebayo, but higher than Watkins (which is crazy if you ask me because Watkins was having the season of his life).

If we sort by G+A then that tells a different story though:

Here it's Salah and Palmer in one percentile, Haaland and Jota on another and then Nunez, Son, Isak, and Watkins all with similar numbers.

However in the context of Fantasy, FWD goals are almost the same as assist (4pts vs 3pts), which gives some bias to midfielders in terms of points. So Salah Palmer Jota and even Son would all be on the top based on that. The only way a FWD could also get on top is with BPS. Haaland gets a lot of BPS so there he goes. Same with Isak (when he is not injured). Darwin gets almost no BPS because he keeps missing the rest of his shots.

Man, 7 goals in 8 games doesn't seem out of reach to me.

I felt great mid-season, he was on course to do it. I didn't mind AFCON, it was a difficult schedule for LFC anyway. But that hamstring injury made him miss Burnley, Luton and Forest - 3 games in which, at least on paper, he scores 1 goal on average.

I agree that it's still doable, but the odds on you winning this now would be like 1.10. Still cannot find why he was subbed off yesterday - he wasn't that bad.

If it goes on like this I won't be able to win any prize.

You're still safe in 5th place, the last one bringing some prizes.
I'll take top 10 finish as a decent result in the 1st season, I actually expected we'd be rewarding more places considering it's almost 40 people playing.

Darwin and Wood go brrr

But really, they were just good punts. They probably don't keep up this scoring rate which is why I'm going to replenish the front lines again.

Why is nobody talking about the Darwin's goal? Is the FA not looking into this at all? The Sheffield United goalkeeper made some dodgy moves, saw Darwin approaching from afar, had the choice of playing to the left or right, but instead waited for Darwin to jump before bumping the ball straight to his legs. Sheffield United have already been relegated and will do anything for a little dollars at this point. I mean who wouldn't?

Told you Wood and Darwin gonna take you -8 if you're not already on 2FT.

Why did Palmer get the deflection credited as his goal while it was an own goal in the liverpool game? These things I never understand..
Because Palmer was shooting at the goal while the ball in Liverpool game was a pass that was never going into net without Bradley's help.

Sometimes it really is strange but yesterday I would have awarded them in same way.

I agree with Trofo on this one, Palmer's shot was a decent attempt at goal, maybe could have even beaten keeper who knows, I believe it's just how Palmer often take his shot with not so much power, just like Kai Havertz does, the power on their shot often would probably not be enough to kill a fly  Grin

I think I've finally gotten the full grasp of the new FPL challenge, to be honest, I believe I like it more, and might even give priority over the classic one come next season if we're to chose between the two, or better still we could have a 2 pots pool like we currently do with the Champions league pool. It's not as complicated as I think it was going to, lol. The next challenge is titled "Red Rivalry" with players from the Liverpool and Man United derby getting double points, If I knew it's just as easy or straight forward as this, I would have kept our small tournament going while leaving 'Frka out of it. It takes just around 5 minutes or less to get my team up for each round, while I still spend hours to arrive at just one transfer choice in the classic one.

Call me the Sherrif octopus - I predicted the CS, predicted Salah blank. Held on to Palmer from the start of the season and he has never blank for two consecutive rounds. Remarkable talent!!!!

Thank you Halaand (zero minute) , Gusto(useless yellow card) and Bradley( own goal Marchant) for spoiling my 80 points party.

Liverpool 3-1 Sheffield United ( Luiz X2, Elliott 1)  Grin

It was just yet another epic shit show, and if there is anything I'm positive about for the round, that would be the fact that I saved my transfer for the next round and didn't get all too carried away by Arsenal or Liverpool fixture to hunt for attacking points, because it would have been a waste of transfers for me.

Now, let's see what I make of 2 free transfers for the next game week  Roll Eyes
