You should be more careful if you want to make a transaction using cryptocurrency. Don't be too easy to push a button via email, usually the e-mail includes phishing crimes and will target confidential data or even other sensitive data on your device, so you should be able to be more careful and don't be too careless.

this sounds more like the old Nigerian prince thing which purely relies on gullibility of the receiver to succeed in its scam. and it is obviously targeting kids who are scare of their parents finding out they were watching porn and don't know enough to know that there is no way they could have gotten a "video" of them playing with themselves Wink
and even if they did, they would have embedded a screenshot of it in the Email.

Wasn't this the premise of a Black Mirror episode?
Well, unlike in the TV show, this scammers are bluffing and they don't actually have anything on the victim, so you would have to be a special kind of gullible to believe someone without any kind of evidence (and send them money on top of that).
There are hundreds of malwares that ask for bitcoin as ransom, which are in my opinion more dangerous than this one, I don't think this deserves the attention it is recieving.

This is very serious. Hope these scammers are not some projects who did airdrop/bounty to collect people details? People shouldn't just be scared by sending out cash in a hurry. Some persons just don't discuss matters of life with good friends to seeing how to analyze the issues. Thanks for this.
I believe some of them are. there were some reported incidents. Thats why we have forums like this one to inform of possible scams and alert people to not send any information out.

agree most of them are related to bounties and airdrops . i did recieve alot of emails lately from an ico company but i already quit joining an ico long time ago .  maybe someone is collecting our personal infos like email address  and then they sell it online for quick bucks ?

in the case of bitcoin email scam , i dont experience to recieve them but its too obvious to tell if they are legit or not  .  if they are requesting donations and alike then theres a high chance that they are scam  .

Do not be fooled by the bitcoins that was transferred to that address. The scammer just transfers some of his own bitcoins to this address to fool people into thinking that other people are paying these coins. It just gives some legitimacy to the scam, if you think other people are paying this.  Roll Eyes

I received several of these emails and I challenged them to post these so-called videos and even offered to pay them something if they can give me proof, but it has been months now and I have not seen any proof.  Grin    Grin

well, lately I've also heard of cases targeting e-mails. I also recommend not clicking all the messages you get on your email. this happened when someone got a message from one of the big companies (fake message), and that made him lose his email. well, it can happen anywhere, we just need to be careful

That person who created a bitcoin email hack wants to make fast money, and I hope that none of us will be his target and he should realize that it's not good for his life. It's always happening now or in the future because there are always greedy people who want more and more money especially with an easy way. They still use the same way but with a different method and they always trick many people to steal their money without people knows.

Why there are people doing this? They want to hurt others in this kind of evil works. We need to be careful enough about this modus. We need to identify the malicious act of other people through an email and other like this.
Because some people are lazy and just wanted to earn quick money at the expense of others. They know that crypto is (psuedo) anonymous and they can hide their ass from the authorities. I haven't received those kind of emails though, but I already know what to do because I don't trust specially emails because I was a victim of hack before.

They could release the video of me - I wouldn’t really give a shit.

My impressive length & girth would probably land me a big job in porn so it’d be the best thing that happened to me.

^^ This made my day. Lol.

Anyways, thank you for giving us the fair warning OP, I do hope that no one will fall for this trap again and use their common sense if ever they got this email. Those spammers/hackers are really evolving as well so just be cautious.

No, they want to make money and hope that people overreact. Even if they sell it to a million people and only one person responds and pays it's a success for them because spamming email doesn't cost them anything and a bot will keep working while they are masturbating themselves and counting the money stupid people sent them.

Yes, this is not first time that I hear about this scam attempt but at the same time, people should already know about this unpleasant possibility of events. Not just in crypto world but In generally. Those people will try and most certain will find someone that will pay requested amount but I don't think that it is significant number of people that will fall on this trap.

There’s a lot of ways to scam people, and this email strategies are not new to me. If you see unfamiliar links better not open it and just ignore what ever the threat are. We should always protect our own details from those people who wants to make easy money, don’t be a victim and start to learn.

That was a little funny.
If you know to yourself that you aint doing it in front of a camera then I guess there is no worry about it.
The scary thing is if they say it is one of your relative because you wont know about it.

Thanks though for the information. I have emails thay is work related and I dont want them getting stained by this kind of propagandas.

I cannot believe some people are still falling to these cheap scams. Ignorance and greed are deadly combinations even in crypto.

These are the same statistics that move spammers as well. Say, if only "2%" of the victims pay, they are making a fortune...

Sad but true, the net is filled with scammers/phishers/spammers etc. Same thing goes to the malware that encrypts part of your data and demand a quick ransom for release, to make you panic and not give you time to confirm or research online about it. Most just bluff, but some do harm, especially to popular insecure OSes and some buggy email clients (or web browsers) that like to "display" attachments...

I have seen the like of those not just in emails, but also social media, etc. Best way is to ignore them, send them to the spam folder, etc.

Strange ... who are all these people who pay. Even a child can understand that this is an elementary scam. Perhaps they really have something to hide. Roll Eyes
