Beware of any malware. The hacker is staring at your BTC wallet, but my BTC balance is stored on bittrex because of BTG, which is safe for the time being.

Yes, since the fork has begun and the distribution of BTG would be 24 hrs from now. Be more extra careful on your BTG or they might take it away from you, intentionally.

With the experience of Bitcoin Cash, most probably a lot of hackers try to steal Bitcoins and Bitcoin Gold. Any one should be very careful and don't trust to any wallet or instruction to get Bitcoin Gold.

How about this strategy.

Download/install/create login to web ....

NOTHING.

This, basically. I'm guessing these people that are rushing to get their Bitcoin Gold are doing so to be able to dump as soon as possible, anticipating a dip. I know I'd rush into it, too, since it could be worthless at any given moment, but come on. There won't be any scammers if there are no people to scam. I have no idea why people think it's a good idea to trust a service that's pretty much days old. The correct way to go about it is to wait until a reputable wallet pops up and supports it. Its value might already drop by then, but is risking all your Bitcoins really worth the few hundred dollars?

If you see ads about it anywhere, report it to the site in question as it's likely to be a scam. We should be taking an offensive against scammers.

so true. the more rampant people who use fraudulent sites to seek profit from carelessness. I think the most appropriate thing is to wait for members in this forum to share their knowledge about BTG wallet.

Yes! be careful or you might be a victim of it. You know popularity of bitcoin has a disadvantage of it because as more and more people knows about it, the news will be shared to bad people too and they will capitalize on bitcoin's popularity. I have encountered fake wallets before be careful! I think if you encountered a wallet that you want to join research on them first! Not only one search, read a lot of articles about this wallet! the creators of a fake wallet might create a fake article about it saying its legit so be careful also. I think the safest way of a wallet is reading its review on the apple store or google play store.

Thanks for the good advice - I guarantee the people that need to hear and actually comprehend your warning though won't see it in time and have already frantically signed up to the scams straight after the fork in the hopes of getting in on an early pump and dump. They'll only see this after they've lost BTC and whine about it then and want compensation/retribution. Shakes head.
Meanwhile - its a pity the honest crypto-community can't do something to band together and fight the cybercrooks. I'm still new so if there is already a crypto-hero group I don't know about it yet (Excluding the MARVtoken group - thats clearly just moneygrabbing off using the Marvel heros lol) - but considering it still feels like every individual has to learn how to fight the cybercrooks alone via your own research and protection layers it would be nice to have an unhackable/uninfectable - who am i kidding... nevermind - im just wishful thinking...

Don't rush into getting your BitcoinGold if you had money on a private wallet. It is better to be safe than sorry, just wait out the initial craze. Its not worth losing your entire stack for a coin worth so little right now.

Yes I've noticed all the fake ads/sites/wallets popping up for BTCGold. It would be easy to get fooled as newbie so well done for putting this warning out.
I've temporarily stored my Bitcoin in a burner wallet for this as I won't be giving out my main private key to anyone, legit or not..

It's best to be cautious with forked coins while there can be price advantages to being first losing your main asset aka your Bitcoins for a smaller stake such as Bitcoin gold is not worth the risk. I agree when a fork happens act with prudence and caution before executing any trade or launching a new wallet to extract coins with.

Really good advise here, and one more thing to add is be careful when you transfer your Bitcoin, Bitcoin gold, and Bitcoin cash ... I've been hanging around the exodus wallet slack channel, and everyday they get people who mixed up Bitcoin/Bitcoin Cash addresses.  Bitcoin Gold is just going to add one more address into the mix to confuse.  And be warned that many exchanges and services will not assist you in recovering the private key if you mix up addresses.

This same stuff happened with the BCH fork.  I wouldn't trust anyone with this until all the
dust has settled.  But this time I do have a small amount of bitcoin and should therefore
have some bitcoin gold....which is going to be worthless, mark my words.  But yeah, be
careful.

It amazes me that good allow this. They should know the wallet is not out yet and this is a scam. I knew that that were bound to be lots of fake wallets making their rounds, it doesn't surprise me it is an ease back for a scammer to make. Please be careful everyone and always transfer your bitcoin to a new wallet so that nothing can be stolen.

This is serious. Google Adwords must hire people with deep crypto knowledge before approving any ads related to crypto.

These scammers will do anything to hack your money. Fake domain names like replica of myetherwallet.com , fake ICO sites.. Must be banned by Google SEO team. Fake sites must also be banned from Google Adwords.

Some people are so innocent and they believe that will receive some BTG for free if they put their bitcoin adress and their private key in a malware site. I've seen at least 3 people losing bitcoin believing on those sites and even calling people to do the same thing. Maybe they are the owners of those sites and are trying to scam people. Just avoid them and make sure you have your coins in safety wallets or exchanges (some are exchanging bitcoin for btg at 1:1 ratio)

I just read a story just now on how a guy lose  0.11bitcoin due to fake wallet providers online. I will keep to what I know and that is using blockchain.info wallet and xapo if I most use online wallet. I lose money true ethereum wallet providers in April and I did not expect to make the same mistake again.

DONT WANT YOU TO LOOSE COINS

Surely they will come and going to take the advantage of bitcoin gold wallets since there are so many claimers that wants to get their free BTG. Just secure yourself, don't download something that you don't know and don't ever try to put your private keys into those wallets that are asking for it without further notice that wallet you'd downloaded is trusted and recommended by the community. Since up until now there's no update coming from bitcoin gold website itself on how to claim it.
